Congratulations! That’s awesome! And good on the people changing the law! I single handedly changed a law where I used to live by writing a letter to the police commissioner and then stating my case to the police chief. He agreed with me and changed the law!
JIm you guys are my go to channel for so much info. This info is golden. So many folks cant afford 1000s of $ for a septic. Excellent info and its a fantastic bit of info for those on a budget! Also love that its all perfectly legal! (That is after you had to go through all of those hoops!) Cheers - Don
You are lucky. In allot of places things like composting toilets and off grid living are being made illegal to insure that the wrong type of people do not move into the boonies. In the county I live in, the simplest living situation requires a minimum $100,000 septic system to be installed. The system is required to be installed before any building can begin. You got it. Only multimillion dollar projects need to apply.
Lots of luck guys, and that's 100% why its not widely known, inspectors and politicians get their pockets lined by big companies to make these requirements!
So happy for you. Your almost ready for the house preps. Have a weekend homestead party once every month. That way you get some help and lots of collaborations. Rock on with your awesomeness

completely safe in the garden yes... but and rugs you are taking can end up in there... just something to be aware of. When I was working for an engineer we tried to get zoning approval on a reed bed syste,... way cleaner than a standard septic on output.. they fought us forever.. the client spent $40,000 for nothing and still had to install conventional. Thanks for being our pioneers! Jim and Jess.. sluggin' through the poop so you don't have to! Congrats on your checkmark guys! Yep.. trench aka "leech field" starts where the perforated pipe starts.
@@ourselfreliantlife I'd be cautious... that's a pretty blanket statement. Certainly antibiotics would remain in some form.. one of the most damaging substances for microbes. A lot of drugs may well break down, but if you look into recycled municipal water supplys.. they are all contaminated with drugs. I know some could be coming from flushing, but is has been proposed it is also coming through human wastes. My point was really for those who hadn't thought of it to be aware of it. Great idea.. However, everyone MUST check out the ordinances for their area. Up here in eastern Washington, depending on exactly where you are, you may or may not be able to use composting toilets. And in some areas it's very much legal, but an inspector can come up with ways to make it extremely difficult for a sign off. YOU REALLY NEED TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST

composting toilets have a new incentive for their use called water shortages . the toilet uses the most water in the home.
The rules: #1 - no flush, #2 - flush
