  • The Bible, God's Word, is the most important book that mankind possesses. No other book even comes close in importance, because the Bible contains revelation from God upon which the eternal destiny of every human depends. Yet the Bible is not always easy to understand. Written by approximately 40 authors over a span of nearly 1500 years, the 66 books of the Bible were written in varying cultures, languages, locations, and situations. Nonetheless, the Bible shows an amazing internal consistency that can only be explained as the result of God's own supervision of the writing process so that what ended up on the pages of Scripture is God's own word, expressed through human authors. In this six part course, we will examine the nature of Scripture, consider principles for correctly interpreting Scripture, and then work through the process of interpretation in three workshop sessions, examining numerous passages from the Bible. The three workshop sessions are also accompanied by a Q&A session recorded when the course was first presented to the Grace Christian Church in Manila, Philippines. If you want to understand Scripture, but you're not sure where to start, this course is for you. Enjoy, and my God bless your study of His priceless Word.

Thank you for your reply. Please don’t leave it up if you disagree. My real question is your said and I was raised to believe when we die if we have repented and accepted Christ we went to Heaven. My beautiful wife just passed and just prior to that a church member pointed out to me after I had stood up for our Pastor and preached on the Rapture that it does not exist and that there is just one resurrection. I thought he was nuts. So I took his versus and study them in detail and even sought help from Billy Graham Ministries to prove differently. I found proof that we don’t go to Heaven until after Satan has been again release for a short while, which is a thousand years after Christ returns. This hurt me since, now I am wondering if my wife death is just her waiting? When I saw your lesson, I took it as a chance for someone to tell me that I am reading those versus wrong. So far, no one has said that.

Thanks for your reply, and for the explanation of your concerns. I understand better now. I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your wife. The most important thing is that if she died as a believer, her future is secure in the hands of our Savior (Romans 8:38-39 and John 10:28-29). Regarding the rapture and what I consider to be the false doctrine of soul sleep, I can't give you a full reply to your concerns here, but I can direct you to several series on my channel which deal in part with the topic of the destiny of the believer after death. One is called "The Other Side of Death" (2 parts). Another is called "The Endtimes: Closer Every Day." (5 or 6 parts--I can't remember). The last is called "Essential Eschatology" (5 parts). You can find them on my channel by searching for the titles. For your own study on the topic of the rapture, I suggest that you study 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 first. In that passage, the term "caught up" is the verb harpazo, which in Latin is rapturo. That is where the English term "rapture" originated. Study also 1 Corinthians 15:50-58, and John 14:1-3. Let me also remind you (as you'll see if you watch my series) that the popular idea (among people who believe in the rapture) that Matthew 24:36 -41 is not about the rapture; it is about the Second Coming of Christ. Also, let me remind you that theologians who deny the rapture are often those who hold to the amillennial or postmillennial views of eschatology, which I personally reject as unbiblical. I believe that the Bible teaches premillennialism, and predicts a rapture that precedes the 7 year "Tribulation" (more accurately identified as the "70 sevens" of Daniel 9). In any case, I pray (1) that the Lord will comfort and sustain you in the absence of your beloved wife, and (2) guide you into a clear understanding of His prophetic plan, both for our world and our race as a whole, and for individuals who die in the Lord. May the Lord bless you as you study His Word!

I am studying the book of Job, and am curious as to what proof there is that it is the oldest book of the Bible, predating Moses’ writings. What is your understanding of that claim?

Since the Messiah was unknown to the early Jews according to your lesson they when judged will all go to hell? I do not believe God will be sending all his chosen people that he dwelt directly with, will be sent to the Lake of Fire.
Second error, you state is you stated when people die they go to Heaven. According to the KJV Rev 20: 3-5, 7 - 18, Dan 12, John 11:11, 1 Thess 4: 13 - 18 and Ezekiel when we die we sleep. Jesus used that term with the maiden and Lazarus meaning dead. The scriptures I listed say we will sleep in the bosom of Abraham (whatever that is for a thousand years after Jesus return). For me this was devastating to learn that my entire life Pastors had mislead us. There are only two possible exceptions to this. First in the Rev listed, those martyred during Jesus return will be resurrected. The other Jesus told the thief, that he would be with him (Jesus) in Paradise (whatever that is) this day. Neither of these two locations mentioned seemed to be Heaven. As one Brother told me why should Gid have billions of resurrection instead of just the one mentioned in the Bible or really the two. A rapture is not mentioned because it does not exist. I have taught it dies ubtil I real read Daniel, Ezekiel and Revelation many many times. I have had such organizations as Billy Graham Ministrues tell me and send me scriptures to contradict what I just presented you. The problem is the versus have nothing to do with the topics I stated.

Hi Johnny. Just a quick reply. Regarding your first point, you must have misunderstood me. I never suggested that God would send all of His chosen people Israel to Hell. Regarding your following points, you are mistakenly attributing a phenomenological description of death as sleep to be a description of the actual state of believers who have died and not yet been resurrected. What you call exceptions (the accounts of Revelation 6, and the thief on the cross) are actually direct descriptions of the actual conditions of the intermediate state. You seem to have neglected to consider Philippians 1:23 and the story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16. Regarding the rapture, I cannot agree with you that it does not exist. In any case, I will leave your comment and your reply on the channel briefly, and then remove them, as I don't want my channel to become a pulpit for individuals who are proclaiming what I believe to be incorrect views. I wish you well, and pray for the Lord's blessing on your study of His inspired Word.
