When somebody just uses RUclips as it should be … to showcase their hobby and enthusiasm it really takes people away from everyday stress into a world made by a person simply through passion … and … it doesn’t matter what is correct or not … it is ALL correct … because it takes high skill and great imagination to put this beautiful scene together … so … we can all dream of visiting a place like ‘Lakeside’ one day
I looked at this layout and thought to myself, this is all from the imagination of one man. I had inquired about the dimensions of the room only to find my layout room is of similar space. I’m struggling now for the past couple years to come up with an interesting layout. And here we have our friend Graham, tears down an old layout and in a short period has totally redesigned a beautiful, well thought out new layout. He is so masterful with the skills he brings to the hobby. The layout seems very well balanced in terms of scale and structure diversity.
Wow!! Thank you so much for that incredible comment my friend, I’m extremely flattered by it, what a wonderful thing to say. Thank you sir! ❤️. Cheers. ………..Graham
Hi Graham what a wonderful statement and I agree with every word you have written we genuine modellers love to share our achievements to help others thank you Graham keep safe and well and happy Modeling Kind Regards Martin PS how can I contact you in the near future it would be great to chat
Hi Graham, so lovely to see you on the mend…. What a fantastic running session and as I’ve mentioned previously I’ve not even got a layout… The camera angles and views were in my humble opinion excellent and so life like. Good to see the lorries still hard at work and stopping at the crossings etc. ( They never cease to amaze me) and the cyclists were something else, just a lovely layout and a very relaxing watch…. Especially having just come in from work….👍
Blimey, thank you John but more importantly - I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it and sat down to comment, that’s very kind of you sir! 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Hi Graham, excellent to see you looking happy and with some enthusiasm back again. A brilliantly wonderful running session that, very nice to watch through. You really do have a great layout. All the very best Dave.
Graham, glad to see you in good form. The Heritage yard is looking great. Enjoyed the tour, all the little bits and pieces compliment each other so well. Such talent! Stay well and look forward to another relaxing episode.
Thank you so much my friend the lovely comment and so pleased that you enjoyed it and relaxing too. 👍🏻. I’m very pleased with the heritage yard now, still a little left to do yet but the main bulk is now done. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………. Graham
Hi mate and thanks for the comment. I can’t wait to see the canal (and lake) finished either, it’s been dragging on a bit I must admit but hopefully I will be resuming back on that shortly now that the yard is nearing completion. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
I so enjoyed this video, what a treat and so pleased to see you looking brighter Graham, looking forward to nest progress, enjoyed the train ride to get a different prospective and always love seeing you, hazel and the pooch riding the bikes.
Hello my friend and thank you so much for the kind comment, really pleased that you enjoyed the cab ride too, it does give the chance to show the whole layout off as it goes around where sometimes little details can be missed. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Great running session Graham, you had it all.Four trains running at once, trucks on the road going around, lift going up and down and even you and Hazel on your bicycles with the dog in the basket. You have got to be proud of all your work. Pleased to see your in great spirits and may your health get better and better. Best wishes from the Mennell family from County Durham.
What a lovely comment my friend, thank you so much. I wanted things on the layout which create movement and interest apart from the trains and hopefully I’m getting there with what I’ve added so far - there still maybe more to come yet! 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Hi Dave and many thanks for the comment and pleased that you enjoyed it and yes, I’m feeling so much better now already thank you. 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Thank you Arthur and those twins did look rather good on the layout, I love the livery on those, very unique in the black and silver and look rather smart I think. 👍🏻. Cheers. ……….. Graham
Good Evening Graham, thanks for the update and giving me some really good practical ideas for my layout and my track extension. It's really good to see you with a smile. Thanks for the inspirational videos and the ideas for our layouts. Kindest .
Many thanks for your kind comment my friend and pleased that it’s helped you in some way and I hope that you get as much fun from building your layout as much as do building mine - that’s what it’s all about - having fun! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. ………….Graham
Wonderful mate, very enjoyable to watch. Some great camera angles as usual especially like the onboard footage, that really does look life-like in my opinion 😊
Thank you my friend and I’m really pleased that you enjoyed it, it was nice seeing those old locos of mine running on the layout again. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Hi Greg and thank you for the kind comment, so pleased that you enjoyed the little running session, it was nice seeing these older locos of mine running on the layout again too! 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
That is working well and looks great Graham. I wonder what you will come up with next. I guess we'll have to see what inspirational idea comes along. Thanks for posting.
Hi Malcolm and many thanks for the comment. Well I guess once the yard is finished then I will start back on the canal again and try to get that and the lake fully finished. I got a bit side tracked on the canal when I built the yard but I wanted to get the yard done first. 👍🏻. Glad you found it inspirational too. Cheers. …………Graham
The twins look great double-heading...the 9F's doing what it does...the Pullman running through the middle, and the Deltic looks superb. And not forgetting the 2 lorries on the High st. and your goodselves on your bikes. Amazing Graham, Lakeside is something else. All the best.
Thank you very much for the comment my friend, I think you spotted them all apart from the lift going up and down! 😂. Well done! 👍🏻 So pleased that you enjoyed it. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
That was a good idea Graham to replace the three way point - looks much better and for me as a novice seems to work better. Lovely running session as well! Regards Steve
Hi Steve and thank you for the comment sir, it’s greatly appreciated too. The three way point had to go even though it created some extra work re-laying the track and re ballasting it, but it was worth it in the end and keeps things nice and simple and I like ‘simple’ ! 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Great video, Graham. You have inserted and reballasted the points seamlessly. Impressed! And as many others have said, it's really good to see you so cheerful and enjoying the hobby. I love the moving lift, and the timetable board. Also impressed with the viaduct.
Many thanks for the comment John, I really appreciate that! The new track layout has worked out really well, better than I thought it would to be honest so I’m really pleased about that. Yes, I’m much more upbeat these days thank you and it’s a good feeling to be like this I can tell you. It just shows what a different attitude and a little medication can do plus of course the constant, tireless backing of my wife too - it all really has helped. 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Hi Graham, firstly its nice to see that smile back my friend, brilliant video and thank you for cheering us all up. Really love the track camera, shows off all your hard work perfectly. The yard is brilliant and you should be so proud of your whole layout. Cheers my friend take care, Martin

Thank you for another superb video, Graham. Your layout is amazing and so inspirational! The running session was great. It brought back many happy memeories for me - when I was a lad, I used to watch the diesel "Twins" and the Midland Pullman running through my home town.
Morning Harry and thanks for the comment mate, yes that standard 2MT is such a pretty looking loco, I didn’t get the chance to run that on this occasion but I will keep it on the layout so I can run it on another update. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Hi Graham - great blend of a running session and an update session - I really enjoyed watching the video, inspirational! Great to see you have the courage to post again. Well done that man!
Thank you for the kind comment David, it’s greatly appreciated and so pleased that you enjoyed the video and found it inspirational too. 👍🏻. Cheers ……………Graham
Nice one Graham, looking great. Moving locos around and a bit of shunting is one of my favourite things to do on the railway. Thanks Graham enjoyed that, Eddy xx
Hi Eddy and many thanks for the comment, as my layout is pretty much just a roundy roundy layout then I wanted something like this yard to give me a bit of fun shunting and moving a few locos around, plus of course it adds a little more realism to the layout too. It’s not a huge yard so it’s something I can manage easily without having to think too hard too - in other words, just a little bit of fun. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Hi Ronny and thanks for the comment, I think I did mention in the video that I will be adding some small tufts of grass, weeds etc within the yard and track but I obviously wanted to get everything working as it should first, now I have done that then I can now finish it off which will include extra greenery in certain areas - watch this space! 👍🏻😂. Cheers. …………Graham
Hi ya Graham, Hazel and Ruby. Great to see the smile back on your face again. Great shunting in your turntable ans yard looks brilliant. Love the pullmans blue and brown. Deltic what a beautiful looking colour and loco. Nice cab ride hope the bloke in the jag is ok. Thanks Graham. Brilliant vlog. ....Pete....
Hi Pete and good to hear from you mate and yes, I’m feeling more like my normal self once again thank goodness. So pleased that you enjoyed the video, obviously I’m really happy with the way the yard is turning out especially now that 3 way point is gone, it makes life so much simpler and enjoyable to operate now. The Blue Pullman from Bachmann is amazing, it’s never let me down once since owning it and apart from an occasional clean then it runs perfectly every time - such a great, reliable model. The Jag driver is fine, it’s just his ego which is a bit upset but he will get over that hopefully! 😂. Cheers for now mate. ………….Graham
Thanks Barry and although I wasn’t looking forward to doing all the extra work, I’m glad I did it now as it makes my life so much easier to operate the yard. As it turned out, it wasn’t too much hard work like I thought it would be which is a result. 👍🏻. Thank you by the way, I’m feeling much better in myself now so thank you for asking after me - much appreciated sir. Cheers. …………Graham
Thank you my friend and so pleased that you enjoyed the shunting in the yard, it makes for a nice, relaxing few minutes just shuffling the locos around, I’m pleased with it now. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Hi Graham, loving the heritage yard looks awesome and simple to work great update and a nice running session to end the video. Thanks for sharing, and i will be looking forward to the next one. Take care, my friend, and stay safe.
Hello Graham! Really like the changes you have made everything works so well. I love the Deltic what a stunning model. Hopefully the Jaguar is not right off lol. All the best my friend
Hi Deano and many thanks for the comment mate, I really appreciate that. The Deltic SP1 is a gorgeous loco, I think that blue makes it so attractive especially with the silver highlights - beautiful! 👍🏻. I think there was more harm done to the owners ego than the damage to the Jag! 😂👍🏻. Cheers. ………. Graham
Many thanks Ian and it’s nice to be able to start feeling myself again - that was not a nice experience! Onwards and upwards now. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Many thanks Martin for that kind comment and so pleased that you enjoyed the video and yes, I’m feeling so much better now thank you. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Hi Adam and thank you for the comment and yes, the Blue Pullman is a beautiful set, I ss[ent quite a few hours individually polishing up the coaches to a deep gloss which is how they were in real life, they always seemed to be kept very clean and shiny so I thought is would do the same with mine. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………….Graham
Good evening Graham it's great to see you enjoying your self again. Like what you have done with the heitage yard 3 way points can be a pain in the butt. As for the running session and the engine's use you will definitely get no complaints from me. All the best my friend ps nice to see the Mallard moored up. Stephen
Great to see you so well and sounding positive! Great building work in the yard but sometimes you just have to run some trains… Must be a bit worrying having to replace a motor in a quite young loco? I run a lot of old Hornby, Triang, Lima and even older Hornby Dublo and no motor replacements yet. Simpler machines I suppose?
Good Evening Graham, i do love your running sessions. as they are very pleasing to the eye. i see the two cyclists never get tired of riding around the layout. take care my friend. Tony.
Hi Graham, firstly it's lovely to see you back after your recent health issues and just make sure you carry on looking after yourself. We love the channel and seeing how the layout is progressing you have a wonderful imagination which helps "Lakeside" come to life to the viewer. I wondered if you could help at all. We are using Metcalfe bridge and retaining walls to create a split level scene where we are going to have a high street overlooking the railway. How best is it to support the retaining walls as I noticed they don't come with any backs unlike the bridges and did you just use foam on the top of these to create Kingsway high street? Many thanks Jon and Hollie.
Graham, great seeing your model trains, great modelling skills, and an air of realism, but what has happened to the Gentry, I would love to hear more about this, Peter.
Hi Peter and thank you for the kind comment. I just haven’t been in the right frame of mind to be honest as regards the Gentry plus the weather has been atrocious which hasn’t helped either but don’t worry, I will be starting back on that again very soon and will of course do an update for it too. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
@@GrahamFoulston Graham, please don't feel pressured, I just thought I might have missed something, that's OK, In your own time, it is all better than TV these days, all the best.
Got it and see your point Graham (sorry had to get that one in). Many thanks for the running session the driver of the E Type must of been watching some of the drivers where I live (double park if they can get away with it). Good to hear you are in a positive frame of mine please keep it up and always a delight to hear and watch your videos take care, kind regards Barry. 👏👍
Thoroughly enjoyed this video Graham, see so much better with the 3 way point removed, more scope for shunting. Also glad to hear you’re feeling better. Carry on doing what you enjoy.
Hi Graham, I somehow missed this video when it first came out. Just watched and the running session is superb. I love your iconic trains. It’s like a celebration of the best of railways. And your layout is a great showcase. Thanks for sharing.
That was a brilliant running session. I also love the different scenery around the layout. I dare say the cyclists were taking advantage of the nice weather. I also hope the man with the Jag was okay, and no doubt it will be in the local paper.
Many thanks Alan for that kind comment, that’s really kind of you. Yes the man in the Jag is fine, just his ego is a little upset at the moment though! 😂😂. Cheers. …………Graham
Great to see a running session on Lakeside again Graham, some fantastic trains made there, I pretty much have all those locomotives in my own collection apart from the Crosti 9f, those LMS twins are fantastic though, from the looks of them they look like the dapol ones that were made for Hattons, if they are I have both of those and picked them up last year, the blue Pullman is a fantastic model from bachmann, I was recently able to convert mine back to dcc as I now have a DCC controller and the bachmann DP1 is again another fantastic model, I have a weathered one myself and it is one of my favourite models that I have, some overall great work on the heritage yard, overall good video here Graham keep up the great work.
Hello Graham. Great to see you in fine form and sharing your enjoyment of your layout with the wider modelling community. Your experience with the 3-way point is interesting. Charlie at Chadwick has installed a couple in his freight yard. Whilst they undoubtedly add something to the asthetics and "play value" of the area, by his own admission, it remains to be seen whether they can deliver consistently reliable performance. Your revised pointwork is a perfectly acceptable alternative. Really enjoyed your running session. The Blue Pullman, the observation car at the rear of the Deltic's train and the amazing cyclists were particularly eye-catching. I feel for the driver of the 9F at the controls of his slow, through freight train, knowing that he'll be constantly "looped" by various signallmen as they make way for the expresses...
Totally agree with you regarding spares from Bachmann so easy and efficient as to Hornby been trying to get a new motor for hst for 5 months now just to be told email back in a few months and this is for a 2022 model
Absolutely Davie I’ve got 3 way points and double slips in my track drawer and they won’t be finding their way onto my layout anytime soon - horrible things to fathom out in my opinion. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………..Graham
Hi Graham, nice to see you back and looking so happy. The Heritage yard looks good. Great running session. Hawthorn Valley works are starting to "ramp up" over the last few weeks. Not much has happened over the last 18 months or so, but now I am determined to get things moving again. I have done one particular thing which I was determined I was NOT going to do and that is to add some Metcalfe buildings. I have "bitten the bullet" and bought 3 kits - 2 low relief apartment blocks and the Metcalfe tower. The Metcalfe Tower is a bit tall where I am placing it, and I am 2 minds whether to reduce it by 1 storey or leave as is. I noticed you have the same tower on Lakeside and was wondering, did you do video of the assembly of it? I have emailed Metcalfes twice on where to cut one storey out but as of this past weekend I have not received a reply. Any suggestions? Also I am lowering the height of the layout onto a mobile framework - 3 modules. Two down one to go! That's enough of my ramblings for now. ... Ian
Hi Graham, the heritage yard is looking great, and that was an enjoyable running session. Did you catch the Dukes of Hazzard stop-motion animation video my grandson did ...cheers James 🙂👍
Hi James and thank you for the comment and yes I did watch that video your Grandson did. Although I thought it was a very clever video showing his skill in stop-motion animation, I just thought it was a bit too ‘whacky’ for my taste. I’m not taking anything away from his production technique but I just thought the content could have been put to better use on what really was a model railway video - or so I thought. But as I have said, I’m not taking away the time and trouble it took him to create it, really well done and should be congratulated on that! 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
@GrahamFoulston I know what you mean there, Graham. But I figured if it keeps him interested in modelling, that's fine with me. To be honest, I was surprised he used the Dukes of Hazzard. It's not as though he knows much about the TV series. That being said, it's definitely done well for him as regards views. I think his next one will be more trains. In fact, he's about to start building his 009 layout, so there will be some videos showing his progress once he gets going....cheers James 🙂👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY The thing is James is that it’s all good experience for him and he will certainly gain from that alone. An excellent job never the less and should be congratulated on doing it so well. I will look forward to him creating the 009 layout! 👍🏻👍🏻
@GrahamFoulston if he can create what he's drawn up on his plans, it's looking as though it could be quite good. Keep an eye out on his community page he's going to post some photos of his plans and the Petite Properties kits he's building. He's going to be doing the building of the layout and the kits. I'm only advising when needed 🙂👍
Hope all is well Good to see you back on form I aspire to reach your level of ( not right! 😀) railway modelling. Im off now to unload thomas, who has delivered some nuclear fuel into a kato suburban station! 😁🤔💪) Regards Mark

Thank you Martin, that’s very kind of you to say sir - thank you! 👍🏻. Cheers. …………. Graham
………….Graham
Great running session better without the 3-way point your looking well
Thanks Barry and although I wasn’t looking forward to doing all the extra work, I’m glad I did it now as it makes my life so much easier to operate the yard. As it turned out, it wasn’t too much hard work like I thought it would be which is a result. 👍🏻. Thank you by the way, I’m feeling much better in myself now so thank you for asking after me - much appreciated sir. Cheers. …………Graham
The yard looking good Graham great video mate
Thank you Graham very enjoyable and it’s great to see a smile back!! 😀
That’s very kind of you to say Brian - thank you very much and much appreciated too! 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Lovely session Graham. I really enjoyed the slow moving loco's around the depot very realistic. Well done that man.
Thank you my friend and so pleased that you enjoyed the shunting in the yard, it makes for a nice, relaxing few minutes just shuffling the locos around, I’m pleased with it now. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
That’s brilliant thank you Graham
Thanks Carl for the comment and pleased that you enjoyed it too. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
😂👍🏻. Cheers. ………. Graham
Another excellent video, really pleased you are back.
Many thanks Ian and it’s nice to be able to start feeling myself again - that was not a nice experience! Onwards and upwards now. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
Thank you for another great video.
No problems Michael and pleased that you enjoyed it too. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………. Graham
Hi Graham another very interesting video and informative video good to see you are ok as well Kind Regards Martin
Many thanks Martin for that kind comment and so pleased that you enjoyed the video and yes, I’m feeling so much better now thank you. 👍🏻. Cheers. …………Graham
The blue Pullman looked amazing going across the bridge. Such a beautiful model.
Stephen
Great video Graham thanks 🙏
Another great video of you having fun with your beautiful layout. Thank you!
Great video!
Many thanks Freddie and I’m pleased that you enjoyed it! 👍🏻. Cheers. ………. Graham
Good to see you coming out the other side you're looking amazing thankyou for the tips and brilliant video
Awesome update Graham!!! Great running session too. Thanks for sharing mate! Cheers Onno.
No problem Onno and thank you very much for commenting! 👍🏻. Cheers. ……….. Graham
Awesome Graham fantastic layout thanks ❤
Thank you my friend, that’s very kind of you to say - thank you! 👍🏻. Cheers. ………….Graham
Tony.
Great solution to the problem! Well done Graham!👏👏👏
Thank you my friend and I’m pleased that you like the revised track plan for the yard - much better now. 👍🏻. Cheers. ……….. Graham
Not pressured at all mate, but thank you for telling me though, much appreciated! 👍🏻👍🏻
Great running session graham
Thank you very much my friend, that’s very kind of you to say! 👍🏻. Cheers. ……….. Graham
Fantastic running session. Some fabulous detail on your layout. Good to see you back in better health too.
Hi Graham, everything coming together really nicely. Well done it looks so impressive
Thank you for another brilliant video Graham
Excellent stuff as usual - can't beat a visit to Lakeside.
Excellent as always!!!
Very nice running session, & yard shunt. Not normally a lover of sound, your Silver Fox is winning me over
All the small detail cyclists etc really add something special to the layout
Thank you Robert, I do try to add in little details to add a bit more interest to a layout than just trains running around. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Totally agree with you regarding spares from Bachmann so easy and efficient as to Hornby been trying to get a new motor for hst for 5 months now just to be told email back in a few months and this is for a 2022 model
It's turned out (pun intended) great. I'm all for keeping it simple. Three way points and double slips have no place on my stone age layout! Cheers
That's enough of my ramblings for now. ... Ian
Great video Graham keep it up
Back on song! Good man!!
The Crosti sound reminds me of the music from the film African Queen lol.
I meant African Queen of course which I've corrected... I was way up the Orinoco!!!
Hi Andy - now you’ve done it! If I ever see the African Queen film again I will instantly think my Crosti is powering the boat! 😂😂. Cheers. ……….Graham
I enjoyed the video, thanks for your efforts. Please share with us the story behind all those dead bodies floating in the lake. Tony.
Hi Graham just checking that everything is OK. Hope you and Hazel are well
Hi Graham, the heritage yard is looking great, and that was an enjoyable running session.
Graham, just as a matter of interest what year did you start building this layout. Cheers Greg
Hi Greg, the original layout was created in 2013 but I started this layout at the beginning of 2020. Hope that helps. 👍🏻. Cheers. ………..Graham
Hi Graham , do you know what radius tracksetta I would need to form a 2nd radius curve matching Hornby set track
Nice realism
Hi Graham do you know how many amps you're pulling when all these are running?
Somehow my YT feed didn't show me this upload, so I'm very late to the party (by weeks). Ooops.
Hope all is well
Good to see you back on form
I aspire to reach your level of ( not right! 😀) railway modelling.
Im off now to unload thomas, who has delivered some nuclear fuel into a kato suburban station! 😁🤔💪)

Hi Graham this is more of a welfare check are you and Hazel all ok (hope you don’t mind) missing your fantastic videos. Kind regards Barry.
@@barryturner2916 Hi Barry and thank you for your caring comment mate, it’s really appreciated. We are both fine and I will be doing a catch up video shortly explaining why I haven’t be active on YT or any other social media platforms to be honest so look out for that in the next couple of days or so. Thanks once again mate. Cheers. …………Graham
@@GrahamFoulston That's great news, I know from your last video there were a few issues and I was somewhat concerned, good to hear from you Graham and looking forward to your next video, take care regards Barry.
Watching US from Europa is just unfathomable. Yes, there is right-wing progress here, unfortunately. But they are not lunatics in a cult like that.
love those cyclists, great
