I read the long comments below. I bought the PD25R and really like it. Sure, I have small Olights and I like them but I have several larger Fenix flashlights including some of the more recent products which are really incredible. The PD25R is the only "little" lights that has the feel in my hand of my larger Fenix lites especially the PD35 TAC. Your flashlight build quality and performance plus the great customer service of the Fenix-Store have my respect and business. Thanks, Bruce
Thanks Spike. I'm reasonably new to Fenix lights and they're really impressed me too. I'll make sure to pass on your kind words to the Fenix team. All my best fella
Just bought this one. I really like it. Very nice one. I have a bunch of olights and fenix lights. I prefer fenix for design and quality. Seems a bit better like tougher feels in my hand. I just love it.
I'm reasonably new to Fenix lights and it's blown me away just how good they are. There's quite a bit of hype around them and they definitely live up to that hype. Thanks for watching
If you prefer a candela there are plenty of pocket thrower or pocket cannon if you prefer to call it that from other brands that have a higher candela than the Fenix PD25R and some flashlights can also be used with short tubes like Sofirn SP35 with Wurkkos 20350 short tube. For pocket throwers, I prefer the Convoy S2+, S21A and S21B because of their affordable prices, wide choice of LEDs and using a simple tube design with a fairly slim size. Spare parts are also provided at an affordable price so they are easy to repair or modify, I still don't have the desire to modify my flashligt but I really like how easy it is to replace the glass lens or the switch if it breaks and I can even replace the reflector to get narrow or wider beam. I currently use the Convoy S21B with the Osram KW CULPM1.TG LED and 20350 Wurkkos tube which makes the flashlight as short as 8.8cm with a diameter of 2.75cm. According to 1Lumen my Convoy S21B is capable of producing a maximum candela of 57,500cd and capable of sustaining 29,136cd and over 700 lumens for more than 2 hours when using a 4000mAh battery. At 57K candela and 29K candela the Convoy S21B only draws 6.13 Amp and 2.19 Amp so the 20350/18350/16340 battery on the market will still be good enough, but the runtime will be shorter because the highest capacity of the 20350/18350 battery is only around 1400mAh.
Awesome comment. I'd never even thought about making a Frankenstein light like this. I've added these lights to mention to my list of things to get out Totally reminds me of that scene from the good, the bad and the ugly where the fella is putting together a pistol from parts in the gun shop 😆 John Wick paid homage to it in the last Wick film
@@MoorlanderEDC Well had it for a couple days now, and I have to say that this flashlight is very smart and well thought out. The charge indicator button is not to soft, the on/off button is a good size, not small enough nor to big where it can accidentally turn on. Fits perfect in my little change pocket in my jeans, holds in place very well. My bigger flashlights would fall out of my jeans because of the weight, but this one is lite enough that it don’t move around. I like the two way clip, it’s lite enough to put on my cap when I wanna be hands free and it’s not gonna slide off. I like how the charging port is under a screw type of cap, makes it more water resistant, there’s a rubber seal there and it comes with extras encase one rips, it also only takes a few turns to expose the charging port. Like I said this a very smart flashlight, I love it! The lens doesn’t sit flush, which is good encase you drop it, don’t want the lens to break on first drop. Only wish it came in different colors, which if it doesn’t it wouldn’t bother me at all, for those nights while fixing my car or night fishing, don’t wanna lose it in the dark, encase I drop it.
That's great to hear Tony. You might be on to something with the colours. I think Fenix are one of the few companies that have bucked the 'different colours' trend. I know a few people with the same worries have a short lanyard with a glow in the dark bead. Easy to find in the dark as well as in your pocket 😂
I had the original PD25 and it’s by far my favorite light. The size is perfect. Great power and runtime balance. Take the Fenix rechargeable battery or the standard CR123. Love but my son lost my clip and now the actual light too. So I think I’ll be picking this one up.

I appreciate your elaborate explanation about lumens vs candela however I don't see much practical use for a bright yet narrow beam other than maybe annoying your neighbors
For me it's using the light better. Plus you're less like to annoy your neighbours 😂 that narrow beem of light isn't firing everywhere. It's directed at what need to be seen rather than lighting up the room. A 900lm light with over 50k candela can be used to see around the house plus 200m away as well. Hope that helps

Hi there. Thanks for the feedback. I take all feedback as a positive thing and I know I definitely have an issue with this. Not sure why I do it, however it's something I'm working on. Thank you for commenting and I hope you're well 👍
I'm gonna give the fenix a shot. I have an olight i5r in titanium and a pokelit. I love them both. I do like how the i5r and pokelit take AA and come with a rechargeable one.
I have the I5r and ace beam AA and the fenix PD25r. The fenix is a sniper rifle of a flashlight. It had gnarly candela. You can beam shit at major distances. The i5r and ace beam is good for lots of light in shorter distance, it's a trade off
@@MoorlanderEDC Not to worry, I contacted their customer service and most disappointingly when using CR 123 batteries, you will not get past medium mode however, up to medium mode output will be the same.
With all the innovation FENIX does to their lights....you'd think they would also make sure to put a visible LED "power level/mode" indicator on the light NOT hidden under a ring. Like OLIGHT has dooe with their Seeker 3/PRO and Warrior 3 lights. Do their version of the "warrior 3"---have both a tail mounted button and one on the side. Gotta have a LED power level indicator visible at all times.
They did. The side button that changes modes lights up for 3 seconds when you turn the light on: solid green, blinking green, solid red, blinking red corresponding to battery level
This light is poorly designed. I have owned this light for a few months now and about half of the time I use it, I accidentally hit the side switch when activating the tail switch. The light is just too small to have a side switch that can be activated simultaneously with the tail switch. Every time you grip the light your fingers or palm will be touching the side switch whether you like it or not. Without a side switch this light would have been an absolute home run. I cannot believe any of these reviewers are mentioning this.
For me, I was a fan of the larger version. I don't really find that I change the light mode a lot so setting and forgetting is fine with me. I wouldn't say I've struggled with it. They have a range of lights similar to this that have just tails switchs

Review your videos and give attention to how many times you repeat yourself. A great video is thorough but concise.😉
Hi there. Thanks for the feedback. I take all feedback as a positive thing and I know I definitely have an issue with this. Not sure why I do it, however it's something I'm working on. Thank you for commenting and I hope you're well 👍
@@MoorlanderEDC it was sincerely intended as positive…so glad you received it as intended.
😊 My wife thinks I'm a 'glass half empty' kinda guy, but I have the mindset that things can generally always be improves upon. Thanks again 👍
@@MoorlanderEDC I’m more of a it’s refillable🤪
is it me or is there a masked man at 12.49?😅
I'll have to watch this back again to check 🤣🤔
Saw it too 12:44
was it a prank or is it something you really aren't aware of ? =X
Yes, there was definitely someone there 🤣
i'll take the olight.
That's cool. The i5T is a great light
I'm gonna give the fenix a shot. I have an olight i5r in titanium and a pokelit. I love them both. I do like how the i5r and pokelit take AA and come with a rechargeable one.
I'd like to hear your thoughts if you do pick one up 👍
I have the I5r and ace beam AA and the fenix PD25r. The fenix is a sniper rifle of a flashlight. It had gnarly candela. You can beam shit at major distances. The i5r and ace beam is good for lots of light in shorter distance, it's a trade off
Not me. Had an Olight Warrior Mini 3 = too large, too heavy, tail switch no-where-near as Precise !!! "Facts"

How’s the output using CR123A’s?
Great question. In honesty I haven't tried. I think if you pause it when I show the back of the box it may show the difference in outputs
@@MoorlanderEDC Not to worry, I contacted their customer service and most disappointingly when using CR 123 batteries, you will not get past medium mode however, up to medium mode output will be the same.
I’m reading reports of “green tint” on the lower lumens. Anybody find this to be accurate?
With all the innovation FENIX does to their lights....you'd think they would also make sure to put a visible LED "power level/mode" indicator on the light NOT hidden under a ring. Like OLIGHT has dooe with their Seeker 3/PRO and Warrior 3 lights. Do their version of the "warrior 3"---have both a tail mounted button and one on the side. Gotta have a LED power level indicator visible at all times.
Agreed. Or even similar to some of the Nitecore lights where they have a small display. I think that would be epic
They did. The side button that changes modes lights up for 3 seconds when you turn the light on: solid green, blinking green, solid red, blinking red corresponding to battery level
This is a tactical light....I prefer no additional lights when turned off. Stealth
Sounds like the PD40R tac is right up you ally
@iWubmusic is always some disrespectful c sucker that needs to justify his purchase talking trash.
how to make a video over 30 minutes long when it should be under 2 minutes long.
Hey, hope you're well and having a great weekend so far. I unfortunately do have a tendency to waffle and it's something I try to work on. Other than the length, I hope the content was helpful. All my best
