After buying 3 different boxes of bad strawberries from W Mart, I have been buying frozen fruit. Looking at the beautiful fruits and vegetables in that market, I can imagine that the farmers don't saturate the soil with chemicals. That's life like it was supposed to be. Thank you for showing us a glimpse of heaven. The church just confirms my thoughts. ❤
Good fruit is difficult to find here in SW Oregon. I finally found a good watermelon after the fifth attempt. As you mentioned, frozen fruit is a good alternative to this dilemna.
@jamielivingston7765 Unfortunately, you are right. Here in Europe, our local sellers at Markets will have used them but perhaps not to the same degree as the commercial growers
You need to find your local farmers market or even the farm. Plus, buy in season. If it’s out of season it’s picked early and shipped from somewhere where it is in season ,probably the opposite hemisphere. Which is amazing and sad at the same time😃☹️
The city of dragons ❤. I’ve never seen fruit, veggies and flowers looking more luxurious than those. And the fun run on the day was an added bonus. Slovenia is one big happy surprise to me ❤❤❤
Absolutely love this video! I would love to go through a market like that. So interesting and so much variety. Makes our farmer’s markets look puny!! What a beautiful, friendly city!

I'm so jealous of the food markets there, they are stunning. Our stores and farmers markets are nothing compared to Europe's. Thank you for sharing the history, the friendly people and beauty of this country and espically the food. 💖
Oh wow guys, that city was beyond gorgeous, I could explore and revel in the atmosphere for days! That market, the great cathedral, the bridges and plazas, just so clean and vibrant and friendly! I love that you ran that race Curt, you’re the man! It is so good to see you having a blast and the weather looked perfect, G looked pretty excited when you got back home, so cute! 💕🇨🇦
Loved all of this video, just felt like a leisurely stroll through a charming city. Your breakfasts looked out of this world, loved how beautiful the fruit looked. The church - amazing. All of it, topped off by a roly-poly from G at the end. Thank you!
👍🤩💝Another fantastic video. That root at the market that *looks like ginger is turmeric* from what I can see. Lovely city and friendly people. Thank you for sharing your journey. 💝
This is an amazing Country and City! I have visited Dubrovnik in Croatia and was blown away by its beauty and it seems that your “van” tour has reignited my desire for more Slavic travel! Isn’t live through other lens magical!! So happy for you and your travel life!
Hari OM A friend of mine recently visited Slovenia also - and was equally impressed, as you clearly have been. I must admit, that fruit and veg market had me drooling! Such markets are just not found here. It's a climate thing... YAM xx
The memorial walk - Trail along the wire/Trail of remembrance and comradeship, goes pretty much AROUND the city where Italians put up a barbed wire after annexing Ljubljana. It's a bit less than 33km long. 9th may was when Ljubljana was liberated by Tito, so the memorial weekend is on the weekend closest to May 9th. On thursdays it's walked by kindergartens, on fridays by elementary and high schools and then Saturday is the main day for everyone to walk and there's runs of triples. Beside that you can walk, cycle, run the trail whenever you want, not only on those days. In winter if there's enough snow you can also cross country ski on it.
What a lovely video today. I am so jealous of that market! Such a variety of fresh food. Slovenia definitely has something very special going for it - must be the dragons! 🐉🐉🐉😂
What and absolutely beautiful place with beautiful people. Edited to say: I’ve always had a negative view/perception of this area of the world due to all of the wars you hear about when I was growing up. I have to say, traveling through these countries in Europe with you guys my eyes have been open to a whole new perception. Thank you
This is such a lively little city and you captured it beautifully. Also, please ignore the whiners. Your time is your own and you share it with us when you wish. Many thanks.
🌻 Ever so thankful the details you show in your videos. Ancient churches filled with such beautiful pieces of art. The sidewalk marketplaces y’all wander through and the eateries of such fine foods. This extended trip has been awe inspiring. Such a real treat to be viewing through your camera lens. 👏
Thank you for once again showing us how beautiful Europe is in spring time. As my wife was borned and raised in Northern Italy, weekly "mercato" was a way to get all you needed without having to travel out of town to do it. Love the stunning array of fruits and veggies, not to mention the dry goods, cheeses, fish and more. Enjoy your stay and safe travels.❤
Such a beautiful city! Gorgeous vegetables, fruits & flowers. I love seeing the markets all over the world. Show us what you bought & cooked with the fine produce. The churches are magnificent! Enjoy your videos very much. Would like to see more!
I learn so much from you guys are you go to new countries and places along the way and explain what things are on your travels. Thank you for taking us along with you. BJ in Holland, Michigan
I love the cobblestone streets throughout what was East Germany and Europe. I was told that they don't have to tear up entire roadways to do maintenance, but it does require some skill in putting them back in place. What a beautiful part of the world, it is close to everything and yet I have never heard of it. Shame when I was traveling, the Eurail allowed one to visit so many countries, but don't believe it went to Slovenia, then the war broke out, and so now it is restricted in the Schengen zone. Oh life! Good to see you are keeping pace up and not rushing through, but it must be exhausting. All the best!
I love Curt’s sports commentary😂Snow your health journey is such an inspiration. May your family continue to be blessed. Thank you for sharing your lives.
Market was outstanding, nothing g to compare to mine in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Love everything u show the kitties, they are so adorable, just wanna reach out and give them a kiss and hug. Great video S always.
I am absolutely humbled and awe struck at the beauty and artistry of this Basilica . I hope to be there for venerations. Thank-you . Peace and all Good .
So beautiful and friendly. The fresco ceilings had such depth and the perspective wow. Amazes me how the vending machines work so well there as in Canada they would be an opportunity for the crooks. We can’t keep a street library box without it being damaged. Nice to see the respect shown. Cheers
What a beautiful city in friendly people. The second church that you showed us was also to me, not just a wonderful church, but it looks like it could be a wonderful Museum also. What wonderful artwork was done in both of those churches. And as always, your tour of the city was so wonderful, and it made me feel like I was taking that tour with you. God bless.
I can't help it, maybe it's the NC in me, but all I can think about is putting all that fresh fruit into a fermentation tub with some sugar and yeast and some of that pure river water.
Haha, the guy you met at the central market (Dominik) is the director of the Slovenian Tourist Association. Funny how he told you not to spread the word about Slovenia.
Hi Snow and Curt, I have some info for you that has nothing to do with the video. Snow, take note of this for when you return to France. If you get a chance to watch youtubers "PRÊTS pour la route", Quebecers visiting France, especially their video named "La Solution du probleme de la VANLIFE au Quebec?", yes it will be in French but they will talk and really show the new way to "camp" that France has created and I’m sure this will interest you… Camping Car Camp! Yes reserved for vanlifers and really has all you need. I really found this marvelous and no car camping or tents or large Rvs but really for van lifers and ghe one they went to was if I remember well was 13 euros and you can plug into electricity. Anyways, I think you should get informed before you return to France…just saying. Take care both of you
Thanks for thinking of us!! We are actually already set up with Camping Car Camp... Used them a few times as we were driving thru France. They are great! Thanks again!!
If it wasn't mentioned in previous comments.... "the memorial walk" around the Ljubljana on May 9th is walked on circular path that runs in the place where the barb wire fence and armed bunker posts was in WWII, that Italian occupying forces raised to completely enclosed the city....
You should return to the Three bridges and head southish on a Sunday - there are even more markets on historical art, daily things etc, from Yugoslavia and older Slovenia. Beautiful. Only on Sundays.
It varies.... From 2-ish weeks to 2 months... Depends on what is going on! Right now we are pretty far ahead because we are planning on taking a few weeks "off" when we get to the UK... And we don't want there to be a break in our RUclips schedule 😊
I loved discovering this beautiful city with you two! Great video, super amazing editors you two are! Thank you for this happy-making experience!! (Snow and Curt, you perfectly fit the sign in the shop or restaurant window: WE MAKE PEOPLE HAPPY"!)
How did you stop with just cherries and potatoes? Everything looked so beautiful and yummy. I’m curious how much is locally grown. Back here in Florida we do bring in some things, like apples and carrots. You make me want to get up and go to our local farmers markets 👍🍊🍋🍓🥭🍅🥬🥒🥑🍉
Hi Snow and Curt! I just (within the last two weeks-ish) found your channel; have been binge watching ever since :) Question: With regard to internet access, are you using "the Starlink?" (I love how you place the word "the" before so many things, e.g., the Amazon, the Google, the etc.; puts a smile on my face very time!)
Could you tell us the name of the church ( not sure if it was a church ) at the end? I loved the angels coming down from the heavens. It appears as if it was in 'layers' for lack of a better word. Thank you.

I’ve been doing the same but, today, I lucked out. Safeway has 2lbs of strawberries on sale for $2.99 and the berries are actually ripe!
Almost every farmer uses pesticide and herbicide.
@jamielivingston7765 Unfortunately, you are right. Here in Europe, our local sellers at Markets will have used them but perhaps not to the same degree as the commercial growers

The architecture of the churches and beauty makes me tear up. It's breathtaking. Ive never ever thought I would want to travel there.....now I do!
The city of dragons ❤. I’ve never seen fruit, veggies and flowers looking more luxurious than those. And the fun run on the day was an added bonus. Slovenia is one big happy surprise to me ❤❤❤
Yes! Keep it a secret! I was just there in May 2024. Absolutely beautiful!
My favourite country in the world. Envying your trip but enjoying reminiscing through your videos xx

We visited Slovenia (Bled and Ljubljana) in 2016. What an amazing country! The vegetable at 5:49 is a Jerusalem Artichoke.
Also called topinambour.
Beautiful ! ❤
😄go Curt , breakfasts look delicious . Really love the history you give us. Thank you
Great tour! Thank you!

@sunshinensprinkles9322 I couldn't have said that better, I 100 percent agree 😀
Same here, I’m glad the people are not angry or resentful, and have thrived over the years!
It's like 30 years since the war and Slovenia had it like 2 weeks...Croatia and Bosnia on the other hand werent so lucky..

Thanks for the video. What a wonderful city. Love the markets and the inside of the churches.
A seriously impressive place ,love the art work in the churches ❤
Always enjoy watching your adventures, Kurt & Snow! Random ostrich walking around apparently by itself!! That was unexpected!
Haha, for me too, and Im local from Ljubljana, never saw that ostrich in the city before 😅

Can't believe you didn't comment on the emu walking through the square at 21:50 :-).
I love all the dragons. G was so cute at the end of the video! He looked so happy! 🐱 ❤ 🐾 😺

Wowzers, that place is so cool!
Tell your friend in the market that the dragon is out of the cave-I’m going to go to Slovenia. It’s charming!!
The produce looks so good 🙏🏻✨🩷
I am glad that you enjoyed Ljubljana, and I really appreciate the detailed description of the brief history of independent Slovenia. well done.
This is awesome. I feel like I am right there with you, Thank you🤩🤩🤩

One of our fav cities!
The first pink church is the franciscan one, the second is the cathedral.
Thank you!!
Beautiful market, but OMG the prices compared to my newly adopted country of Ecuador!!!! Produce is nearly free here!
I just said they are lot higher than Spain as well
Love that striped top on you, Snow!

That is the cleanest market I have ever seen. When we travel to the lower Antilles and South America the markets are not clean.

Ljubljana cathedral (Cathedral of Saint Nicholas) aka Stolnica svetega Nikolaja seat of Archbishop of Ljubljana.
GREAT VIDEO
Our daughter had a school project in like 6th grade to plan a trip anywhere in the world (there was some cost cap). She added Ljubljana on the way back from Asia to that fantasy. But she pronounced it "La-JU-ba-jana". Fast forward like 5 years and we're travelling to Italy for my mom's retirement and Ljubljana was just an obvious choice for a detour. Best (and biggest surprise) city of the entire 3 weeks, IMHO. But it's still hard for us to pronounce correctly in our heads bc our daughter's way was so much cuter.
It really is a great little city!! Hard to pronounce for sure! 😄
I’ll take Snow’s!!!
Fantastic vlog!
Thank you!!
That was beautiful
In Martinique I danced with a street man, possibly homeless, but my husband said he was very clean, anyway the music was blaring and he was dancing so I joined in. The people looked at me like , well you know, communicated with a local.
Those soft fruit prices were very high compared to here in Spain, however they look superb
Yeah, fruits like that were always quite expensive in Slovenia, but a lot of people have a garden or a relative that gives this stuff away for free, because it all ripes at the same time and you just can't consume everything.
