I like your philosophy on the goal of life! It matches mine even though I am 3x your age. I enjoy your videos soooo much! I am happiest when I am still learning and growing. I am a retired RN and enjoying my life to the fullest.
Thank you Sarah for your humble spirit. I have watched your growth as an heirloom sewist and mama over the years. You have been and inspiration to me and I'm sure many others. Congratulations! Your were blessed with a wonderful talent. Enjoy the journey!
Sarah, thank you so much for this! I'm a young mama and law graduate and I relate SO MUCH to your sewing journey. I've only discovered the world of heirloom sewing since having my daughter and I'm wishing I never wasted all those years in law school and had gone down this path earlier! I'm inspired by you to enter our Easter Show next year
yess!! go for it! ...and I guess, at least we figured it out now, right? we can change our sails, but also, we can pass down these lessons to our little ones. I heard a mother at a recent pta meeting talk about foreign language learning for their elementary school kid. she doesn't want "them to get behind." and I just cringed. there are many, many wonderful reasons to learn a foreign language, but to get into college isn't it. anywho, yesss, enter into your easter show! ❤️
Aww…my Belle doll was in your video! I feel so special! 🥰 I’ve followed along with your videos for a while in smocking! Great job on your dress, it was beautiful!!!
So I thought about entering the fair after going to our local county fair this year. My grandmother entered things for as long as I can remember, and always came away with beautiful ribbons for first, second, and sometimes honorable mention. But then I remembered that we live in the same state. 😊 So I will probably just enjoy and appreciate your work. Someday I may get to the point where you will see me there but for now I will just watch and learn. Thank you for putting your lovely work on the Internet so we can all appreciate it.
@@sarahclassicsewing No it is not about the ribbons but I am sure anything I make would be very simple next to yours. You have a unique gift of ability to sew beautifully and the creativity to venture beyond a standard pattern. Maybe someday I will have the sewing technique down but your creativity is rare. You can’t learn that --- it s a gift!
I entered so many things in our county fair for many years and to , came away with lots of blue ribbons for children's clothing, quilling, ,craft painted projects, and embroidered projects.
I've missed your sewing while you worked with your hubby, even though it reminded me of the pleasure I got by watching my father do his carpentry in his shop. It's good to see you cherishing the moments. Happy holidays to you and yours.
Sarah, congrats on your achievement of Best of Show. We are neighbors (so to speak). I have watched you for several years. I recently saw you on Farmhouse Fabrics with your displays of finished projects. Living in Morganton is a heartbeat away. I would love to catch up with you and visit and see for myself your studio and hear about your dreams and aspirations. Presently, I am in Florida, but upon our return to NC, I hope to someday catch up with you and visit a famous person, YOU !!! Congrats on your first State Fair winnings!!!
We are, and we are on our way to spend 2 months in the Philippines where we lived for 6 years! Visiting friends made and having a memory recovery !! Hope to keep in touch!!@@sarahclassicsewing
😂that last part, you are so funny😂 Yeah, you don't get notes. I've done the Dixie Classic/Carolina Classic, but only second place ribbons for sewing (quilting)...got a blue ribbon once in jelly making though🎉 It really is a lot of fun! The whole growing, finding your rhythm, wanting to know more and more and expand....yeah, I definitely get it ❤
Sarah I was worried about you. You usually do the girls Christmas dresses. I love to see the beautiful fabrics and lace you would pick out. I never dreamed of the state fair. Best I’d Show means the BEST of the best. Which your heirloom work is OUTSTANDING. I think you didn’t get notes because you don’t need any. I think the judges see you work as excellent no need to improve. Girl so young so talented such a good wife, momma and SEWIST. You should be proud
You can contact the Fair organization committee and ask why there were no notes with your blue ribbon (well done, by the way!!) and tell them you were hoping for notes on improvement/constructive criticism. If there is none, well, bask in the wonder and glory and keep on keepin' on.
You are very talented with your sewing abilities-and it seems you’re driven in that direction. You’ve described your work/sleep schedule. It sounds like you don’t have much time with your children. Sarah, you’ll never get this time back-your children are growing up. For their sake as well as yours, make them your priority.
Oh I still see them plenty... every afternoon after school and on the weekends. Everyone is in school now, so the baby chapter is behind us. I appreciate the concern though ❤️

Is there anything better than a state fair!! Quilts are always my first stop!
it was such a delight! very inspiring and grounding ❤️

ooh nooo go ahead and enter away! we can inspire the best out of each other. I'd say, it's not about the ribbons, but the process, right? ❤️

Notes are sometimes written on the back of your entry form. Beautiful work. Fairs are so much fun.
Sarah, to me, I look up to you in so many ways. I love how bold you are! Miss you and wished we could sew and have children run wildly while doing so.
hope you're doing well mama! miss you too! ❤

I missed my sewing, too! ha! we recently got a slabber attachment for that mill, and now I'm off the hook 🙌

I love watching your videos while I’m working on my own projects. They are great motivation and calming at the same time.
glad to hear that, thank you!

Love this. I need to do a project like this! I tend to do utility items but I love the complicated beautiful work with ribbons, lace, and beads!
thanks! I turned it into a little pattern, so if you want to give it a try, you can 😘

So one thing though, not every fair judge is an actual expert on heirloom sewing. And I have seen quilts that were inferior judged as winners.
