yeah, good point. I guess I got this because I've been watching, Best horror 2024 stuff... but there's tons on this list that no-one else is mentioning.
Glad i got the recommendation for this. Mr HotTake deserves more subs! His personality is there, which is fine, and it doesn't override what he's saying. And he seems earnest about he's saying, like he's thought about what he wants to say, and how to say it clearly. Attention totally focused on the movie. And he did all this really clearly with no spoilers.
Yay!!!!!! Heretic was my favorite movie of the year, I've already seen it four times. It's personally very meaningful to me because I'm an Ex-Mormon turned Atheist.
@LockeDemosthenes2 It was my grandfather when I was young. One of my uncles took over now but yeah its more of a I show up around the holidays type thing now.
I loved Heretic. Loved that first hour. I got to watch in the screening theatre of a local cinema so it had like 12 seats. Felt absolutely eerie and wonderful. 😂
@ oh for sure. Lol. It’s absolutely crap. And I would only ever watch it again to laugh at it. The film is NEARLY on the cusp for even me to not find it funny
@@MisterHotTake If by bias, you mean not agreeing with exploiting people with a mental illness, just the same as you wouldn't exploit someone who was abused. Then sure. I have a biased opinion.
@@SyntaxNexus No my meaning was that things like acting ability, production value, plot development... these are other factors that matter when grading a movie. Not just your personal opinion on what the movie is about. The fact that you called out that specific movie for being bad told me it was personal bias. There is no world in which mickeys mouse trap or blood and honey 2 deserve to be ranked but not I saw the TV glow. Based on ALL criteria for grading.

My favorite horror of the year was the Substance. It was so good. Mind blowingly good. I was grinning the entire movie.

That is absolutely insane that those two actors couldn’t elevate a film in any way whatsoever. That’s when you know a movie sucks.
