Sobriety and Candlebox go hand and hand for me and my wife! Miss the Rocker days and so happy to be free and sober of alcohol for 7 1/2 years and GROWING!
Yeah it's wild how much control he got over his voice. During the Lucy days I was worried he was going to burn out pretty early, but by Happy Pills he'd turned it around and he's only gotten more strength and stamina as the years have gone on!!!
Candlebox rules!I remember in '93 or early '94 my buddy picked me up to go out and he said " dude, you gotta hear this cd I picked up today" and after I heard this tune and Far Behind I was hooked, loved them ever since.Very underrated voice and lyrics by my man Kevin.
Far Behind so describes how it feels to lose a close friend to suicide. It will be 6 years tomorrow that I list my closest friend. Although I have been clean since 97, he relapsed and just got tired of shame and guilt he felt. Definitely Far Behind right now.
Kevin, this is the song that got me clean and keeps me clean. It’s been over 23 yrs for me. I cannot even begin to express my total appreciation for what you did for me.
Congrats. I’m struggling to stay sober. I’ve been to rehab but it’s like part of me wants to be sober and part of me doesn’t. I don’t know what to do anymore
@@jonnorris6664 I live in that limbo for years. One day when I thought I couldn’t go on anymore I walked into a dangerous situation and that was my bottom, my moment of clarity. I have been living one day at a time for 21 years. It was long and it was hard but all worth it. Be strong and keep fighting. You are worth it!
Can we just talk about how much fun these guys STILL have playing this song? The body language and facial expression pretty much tells the story. :) I love this version.
Seen them in the front row during X-Fest in Ohio in the early 2000’s they were incredible then straight winds came in and blew the stages down and ended the show early. It was wild.
Props to them for playing this gig. And props to the people who own and operate this awesome program. I struggled myself years ago when I was in college and music helped me find an "out." A couple of years ago, it occurred to me that I hadn't written a song recently, and then I realized that most of my music was used as an escape from drugs, depression, anger, and all of those bad things. So the fact that I haven't written a song in a while is a good thing. God bless music and God bless all of you. \m/
Candlebox is one of my favorite bands to come out of the Seattle grunge era. I still love listening to this and also the Lucy album. Pretty cool to hear acoustic version.
Thank God for your sobriety because you have been an integral part of my life! Didn’t struggle with drugs or addiction because music was my anti drug. But your music got me through some dark days of an unstable home life ❤
Another great day at RECOVERY UNPLUGGLED love u guys keep up these great videos its inspireing for me who is 13 yrs clean and serene love u Ritchie keep up the fantastic work u do in florida happy holdays too u and yours (ONE DAY AT A TIME).
My favorite alternative band and I just got sober. Fuck yeah. That's a sign y'all ;-) ✌🏼 ❤️ & recovery , xoxo Liz!!! Ps - I ❤️you @candlebox - you've saved me many times!
This song has had different meanings for me throughout the years. In the 90s it was about getting away from toxic boyfriends and relationships and now it still resonates as my sister has been battling addiction for 10 years.
After beating heroin, this song means 10,000 times more to me than it ever did before. It's amazing how truly great songs can mean so many different things to just one person, or the same thing to millions of people. This song resonates with my life in an entirely new way and I truly appreciate it. Fucking amazing lyrics and song composition. Thanks Kevin & Co.
I tried to do online AA during the lockdown. They were having a music hangout. I played this when it was my turn, and everyone left me there by myself, but one disapproving onlooker. I din't drink over it. LOL
I wish to God I could of known of a place like that and the money was there I could go there 10 to 15 years ago.Pretty unique place apparently. And I'm a musician just not all that good but that just means tons of room to grow which is what u need as an addict. We played far behind at the memorial,I had a special little best friend he committed suicide at only 16.I haven't thought hard about it in years until today viewing these. They are lucky to be there & get that individual attention.God bless everyone battling those demons stay strong.

Most of the crowd seems too young to really know this band lmao great band miss the earlier 90s as a kid hearing great alternative genres on most stations. Having to rewind a cassette tape and hope it dosent tear while rewinding
Jayme Sauer agreed! How are they not feelin this??? Many in the audience not even bobbing their head, tapping their foot.... nothing! I’d give a lot to have been in that audience. Once in a lifetime experience right there.
I wasn't a fan in the grunge days. I thought they were a weak example of the genre. However, after seeing their Loverboy cover and this, I am far more impressed with how great they sound all these years later! They do that Turn Me Loose better than the original!
At 18 and realized his problems were hurting others. Wow, that says a lot, right there. Most would've just kept going and wouldn't have been as strong.
Id have a hard time not seriously causing property damage jamming out to this song! As soon as the chorus hit id throw a chair and start headbanging. I know its not metal but some songs hit some people differently
We have a guest in the church from Vegas. She said is underground city in Vegas full of drugs addics10 miles long...if someone is in need please let me know the bed and whole recovery procces is Free!! Glory to God Almighty❤❤❤

Kevin is not sober. I watched a fan throw a joint on stage after a show and Kevin was giddy when he picked it up and put it in his guitar case with a fist pump. Bullshit
Chris Tipton no offense bro,but its only a joint, herbs from the earth.imagine being Kevin and doing all these gigs, alot of pressure, of course a man has to relax and weed ain't bad.
I've met, hung out with and performed with Kevin....you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, he is sober. Just cause you smoke a joint doesn't make you an addict.
Dude.. like wtf!? You can't be a talented musician that writes with a fraction of the passionate emotion as he does without the Jesus flower... There's no example of consistent soul touching artist without it I believe... Huge difference between lighting up a j and bangin H though... Plus you said he picked it up and put it away... Like c'mon man!? That's not what a fein does bro lol Imagine how rude it would be to offer a toke and a smile that you risked your freedom to obtain and give to a "hero" of yours and he puts it in the trash or hands back to you ..🤔 He coulda been saving it for a band member, to dispose of without offense or saving for a rainy day when he needs the creative juices flowing to assist with another timeless classic we all enjoy... Find yourself one of them joints to help you lighten up a bit and hopefully enjoy the rest of your life without being an assuming, judgemental hater. Much love 💯✌️

Years later, Kev still sings with intense raw emotion. Give this underrated band their flowers

Yeah, that's because none of them (aside from Kevin, the singer) were actually in the band when the song was made.
Seen them in the front row during X-Fest in Ohio in the early 2000’s they were incredible then straight winds came in and blew the stages down and ended the show early. It was wild.
Love Candlebox!! The guys are real down to earth!!!
That was a great performance!!

Struggle means that much closer. It never goes away. But testimonies as such is what gets us through it. You got this don’t give up
One of the BEST groups out there and what a performance!
hats off for being able to sing like that after all the years!
He is a seriously underrated singer

This is just so epic. I've never been addicted to drugs, but I've been addicted, and the way he sings this is exactly how it feels.

The voice is just as it was the first time I saw them in the 90s. This is such a great song it just lacks that "punch" Pete brought to it.
My favorite alternative band and I just got sober. Fuck yeah. That's a sign y'all ;-) ✌🏼 ❤️ & recovery , xoxo Liz!!! Ps - I ❤️you @candlebox - you've saved me many times!
Kevin, thanks for that voice and pieces of art that Candlebox's songs are. Keep Seattle's music spirit alive.
that was ..glorious. thank you.

Jess hang in there. My ex has been an addicted for 40 years. The pain in my heart it is real
My best for you and yours, hope she's doing better.

Well, music is definitely OUR medicine.
An amazing and beautiful expression, through music, of a topic many of us (including myself) experience. Respect given.
❤ I’m in love with this band.
I was given a memorex copy of Candlebox in the early 90's. I was told it was a demo. I've been a fan since first hearing them!
