Just looking at the stats on Wikipedia of the Hornet vs. Super Hornet vs. (believed stats) of the Su-57 the differences in thrust/top speed are astounding. The Super Hornet would have a better chance, but the Su-57 still completely out classes it on paper.
Just gotta hope it's a conscript in the pilots seat

@@combatmuffin3192 I some what agree bvr can be fun when st low alt and with plenty of cover to dive into but at 80,000ft is just dull

Little thing: the Thrustmaster One is a pretty old joystick that was already made back in the 2000's. And I can confirm it's a VERY good starter joystick for all of you new guys discovering the wonderful world of flight sim. ;)
Sur it doesn't have as much button something a a warthog or a X52. But it's enought to have the main stuff in, and the rest can be done via keyboard.

It’s a shame they spend all this money developing 5th gen and training the pilots, only for the pilots to be boarder-line unconscious at all times when using the damn things.

@@iFlyAircraft I think he was talking about the cheapo hotas, the TM Warthog doesn't wear out fast in any way, it's a community staple for a reason.
Also the SU-57 mod, like pretty much any FC3 mod, is incredibly broken. You can accelerate during mid-g turns and pull much more AoA then actually possible
I'm not super knowledgeable about the generations, but is the SU-57 the counterpart for the F-22?
ngl, kinda wanna see a tomcat in place of the hornet. Kitty can turn pretty tight and has some beefy engines.

I appreciate how affordable it is and that I got it at a discount. But after a few months with the HOTAS One I absolutely CANNOT recommend it. The hand rest on the stick moves when you put force on it. If you separate the throttle and stick the stick base will tip when you move the stick. The throttle is VERY loose and pretty much just falls forward or backwards when not right in the middle. There is a severe lack of buttons. You need to set a decent deadzone for the stick in both axis, and that weird axis on the front of the throttle is pretty much useless for anything.The stick has a sensitivity dial that does literally nothing and the stick is so wonky that it's INCREDIBLY difficult to make any fine precise movements.

Except for the main halo product air superiority fighter, F-22, of course, which is arguably the one where it's needed the most. Can you imagine how much more expensive the F-35 project would have been had they put in TV on that... Jeez. EDIT: Oh and the AV-8B of course, and the F-35B too... Not the kind of thrust vectoring you're talking about, but still definitely counts as TV.
It is an interesting question, should it become more prevalent in future planes... I guess the main question, aside from price, is "do you actually need it"? Does it help in anything except BFM? Does it even really help in BFM outside of gun battles? How useful is it when the priority is heavily in the BVR arena, and WVR you have access to high off-bore missiles, which don't require you to point the nose anymore? Are these worth the extra weight and complexity on platforms that are already getting super complex to produce and maintain?
Looking forward to the future to see what kinds of jets they come up with.

And THIS is why the F/A-18 is a piece of shit. Navy should have NEVER decided to ditch the F-14 Upgrades (which yes, would have been expensive at the time) but compared to the range, the armaments, the maneuverability, the speed, and the capabilities of the F-14+, the Navy would have saved BILLIONS in the long run. But because the Navy wanted to be CHEAP and get more (quantity) for less they went with the F/A-18.
Had the Navy accepted the Air Force tie-in with the F-14+ Upgrades, they would still be the workhorse of the Navy, and they would have even have added upgrades to make it compareable to Fifth Gen fighters with thrust vectoring, improved Avionics and armaments.
