If people are in public spaces you can photograph them as you please. Private property is another story. That’s why prank youtubers ask permission when filming pranks on private college campuses but not on the streets and sidewalks. Also google “easements” to know where public ends and private begins. Happy shooting.
This is already my October winner for video of the month, loved it! Seeing the "Contact sheet" process of trying for shots, which ones hit and which missed is probably the most useful thing a Photographer or Videographer can offer for the rest of it.
Takes me back to all the family vacations when I was a kid...you would snap it, stay in the moment, and then relive it when you got back...your explanation of parallax explains so many composition issues I had as a kid😂😂😂😂 such and awesome vid man! Fun adventure!👍✌️👊🔥
This video was so much fun! Mainly, because I vividly remember taking pictures like this all through high school (And your right that rewinding sound is so satisfying). I actually have a book of pictures from 12th grade that my daughter loves where I just went around taking pics with a disposable camera and a polaroid. Great stuff Cody!
The one thing that sticks out for me in all your videos Cody is the fact that you push yourself. Not just in any which way, but you push yourself to continuously learn something, or experience something new. Such a powerful subliminal message but makes a huge impact. Love it
Now we finally know who took which photos! Ohhhh, those good old days when I had a disposable camera. I captured my first concert with a disposable camera. Hilary Duff was only a dot on the photos, but dang I was proud!
I love this! I was just saying to my husband last night how times have changed and I am casting video of our kids from the day on the TV to show him what he missed at work. Like that was normal. Our teenage selves would have been impressed! I want to try this with someone, I love how creative the shots got and how you can't see them until they are developed.
The video was great, but that intro was Netflix series level quality. We all know you have those skills, but it's still cool to see them in action; definitely makes me realize I've got a long way to go when it comes to making videos.
OK, last comment. The way you carry yourself, and the way you keep up your enthusiasm at all times is simply amazing. You are an amazing human. I know you probably don't hear that exact phrase often, but it needs to be said when people like you have the talent and tenacity that you have. Keep up the good work, and thanks as always for the inspiration!
Not only was the video interesting and fun to watch, but the learning was great to see happen. Film is such a fun medium I had forgotten all the fun as a kid I had using those cameras. 24shots was such a big deal as a kid. I really liked your titles in this, especially at the start, how you used the text to assist with the storytelling. Nicely done.
Love this challenge! As a kid I loved picking up disposable cameras and capturing our family trips or time with friends. Will definitely have to pick some up for an upcoming trip! Also, super impressed by how creative you guys were with your framing!
Loved this video man! Just getting out and getting creative. I could be wrong, but I think you're allowed to shoot photos of people in PUBLIC places without asking permission. Asking is obviously the best way to go about it, but I don't think you can be arrested. Correct me if I'm wrong - I NEVER shoot street.
This was really fun to watch! It’s always cool to watch people who can typically give me lots of crap about what I don’t know, try to go back to old-school and the stuff that I grew up doing! LOL Thanks for sharing Cody! 😊
Wow. I must have processed and printed hundreds of these a week when I worked for Fuji. These were my source of AA batteries forever - you can pop them out the bottom, they used to power the flash. They were a staple at weddings - they used to buy a bulk lot of them and put one on each table at the wedding, then have a box that everyone put them in at the end so the bride and groom could get them processed. Now we have PicNut etc...
I bought one of those cameras at an event last year where we weren't allowed to bring a digital camera. Made me fall in love with film and I went and bought a point and shoot film camera right after. The results those cameras produce are just unreal! Loved seeing your taken on the topics :)
Nice challenge Cody liked how stepped out out comfort zone and shot film. Inspiring vid man also like the part of the edit where showing the scores from the votes. Having the photos on that surface and the way the text animations was done felt so NY man nice touch to that portion. Would love to photo battle next time your here😀
Great shots! I love your channel! It's awesome to see more and more people having fun with films. Put there is SOOOO much you can do with a negative to still make a good photo. I worked 10+ years in photo labs... Try shouting slides ;p Also, a quick note about the parallax on disposable... Since the minimal point of focus is 3-4 feet the effect is very minimal. On anything closer, that would probably show.
Bought two disposable cameras, one for my friend and one for myself. My friend got the camera with an album and other trinkets as a graduation present. She's one of those people who takes countless pictures/selfies and sometimes even doesn't post one of them. I told her to make those count. I carry mine with me wherever I go since it's so small and light and you never know what you end up catching on film. I love the into to this video, feels like a movie a bit.
i really love how you use music. The parts with the music are like really hyped up and really exiting, meanwhile the parts without the music are so peacefull and you get so drawn into what youre saying. Great Job Man👌❤
Happy to say that I voted both times there was voting - the first time when they were small, and then again when they were full screen in the Instagram story.
This is epic bro. Wow a film challenge is awesome. Those shots are great. It’s funny you have created an amazing challenge but it’s truly about meeting and creating something new. Now that is a game changer. Being able to exchange ideas and see how other view the world through the lens. Stay EPIC my friend. Keep crushing it bro and mad respect.
Man that was FUN! I didn’t see the IG post so I missed out on the voting, I wish I hadn’t because there are a couple that I would have voted differently on. Either/or...this was totally cool!
I cut my teeth on film and life in the darkroom. There are days when I really miss it. Film forces you to slow down and think about composition and light. In essence it forces you to be more thoughtful.
I love this video, but I can't for the life of me understand how you had the patience to wait 5 weeks to get your film developed lol. That's incredible, I'd want to see them in AN HOUR! We've got a place that still does an hour here and I always pay more for it sooner rather than later lol. Such a fun video, love shootouts, especially with 35mm. Funny Cody I never actually took the time to look into the stats on these disposable cameras. F9 at 1/100th at ISO 400 so cool!
I found one of these cameras in the glove box of an old car I just bought. When I tried to give it back to the owner she said no, use this when you get in an accident. So old school!
Haha! “I don’t understand this!” This was so funny! So bad I can’t be part of the notification squad as I’m always asleep when you upload (Germany...). Hope my likes and comments still count 😂
Nice challenge, and impressive results for such a limited photo amount, awesome. Somehow I always miss creators in NYC :D Been here for over 3 months, haven't seen even one person Vlogging. Still hope to get some collab here.
Love these challenges!! It makes me want to go pick up an SLR and start shooting with it. The only time owning a Pentax as an advantage is my compatible lenses with SLR cameras that I already own haha
I did the same thing. First thought was "what's the apeture, shutter, and iso?". So much fun to use since you're not worrying about setting or a heavy camera. Super discreet as well. :P
5:01 - I'm confused.... You can get arrested? If you're in a public place, you have no privacy, and can take photos of people without their permission? Correct? At least that was always my understanding....
Thoroughly enjoyed the video...I’d be afraid to go low angle on the walking street shots. You get someone thinking you’re taking an “upskirt” shot and it ain’t gonna be pretty!
So funny how in 2019, technology that’s been here for over a hundred years, has to be learned hahahhahahaha! Good stuff. PS: 35mm film that is scanned well, is basically a 25mp image.. Large format film creates the equivalent of 100mp+. Crazy eh?!
So much knowledge is being lost. It's important to recognize this and preserve the needed knowledge. Especially how to live if the power goes out some day, and the grocery stores don't get stocked.
@@RCodyWanner I truly appreciate your response. I'm jazzed to get a disposable camera , I remember being able to take only one shot of a subject because it was so expensive.
The finger over the lens shots instantly took me back, hahaha!
We actually found a couple of these undeveloped in a drawer from years ago, i think its time to findout whats in them. Great challenge idea, love it.

Great meeting you at VidSummit in LA this week Cody, keep up the good work!
Ahhh, the good old wind-up! Reminds me of sleep-away camp. Also, that scene in Shawn of the Dead. But mostly camp...
YES! Such a great concept. Take away the fancy rigs, and the true skills come out!
❤️❤️❤️
Dean is great, been following him since he visited Dan Mace in NYC. Loved the photo challenge, cool video Cody! Deans finger in how many photos?
Now we finally know who took which photos! Ohhhh, those good old days when I had a disposable camera. I captured my first concert with a disposable camera. Hilary Duff was only a dot on the photos, but dang I was proud!
😂😂 yes!!
This video was so rad!
Every time I see a nyc Cody video, makes me think of ridiculous facts with Cody! 😁🤣😂
Haha yess!!! One of my favs. We bred to do round two

I used to love walking NYC with a disposable camera. So many moments to capture and get creative with!
This is a great video! I love this challenge... Plus we always focus on having such a shallow depth, it is so refreshing to have everything in focus
Those shots were amazing!! Just an intangible quality of authenticity to them
Possibly one of my favorite vids from you Cody. Makes me want to pick up a few disposable cameras to go out and shoot!
The video was great, but that intro was Netflix series level quality. We all know you have those skills, but it's still cool to see them in action; definitely makes me realize I've got a long way to go when it comes to making videos.

Thanks!
Absolutely loved this one. The shot of the bike from above?!? Insane. Sometimes the shots you think you miss are the ones that impact people the most.
I KNOW DUDE! ended up my second favorite shot. I thought I completely missed it

You trying to understand a disposable film camera 1:13 reminds me of my 19 y.o coworker not knowing what a Walkman or dial up internet was.

I am totally going to do this with my daughter for my channel. SWEET!!!
Quite good shots, impressive Cody and Dean

What was even more torture was I got the film developed in 4 days, but wanted to wait to be with dean to review them!!
Ya that makes sense. Part of it is documenting that exchange, I can chew on that. Paid off well, such a fun video.
