Quick question why do you called Battlefield 1 a Shell shock/ PTSD Simulator? Its a fps shooter that resembles very little of what World War one was like.
My great uncle fought at Verdun. He was a private in a Zouave regiment, was made a corporal for successfully leading his company to assault the enemy trench after their officer was killed. This was at Fort Douaumont. Later in the war he was made a sergent and awarded the Military Medal for successfully making the liaison for his regiment during an attack on German trenches near Vaux (if you have been at Douaumont and Vaux, it is hard to imagine what it must have been to run from one fort to the other during the war). He was wounded on his arm during the operation but made it back to the front soon after. In November 1917 Sergent Julien Roy was killed leading his men for an assault on Hill 304 in Samogneux, not far from Verdun. He was 23 years old. As a civilian he was a clerk, he left his parents, 2 brothers (one would be killed during WW2) and 3 sisters. He rests in Samogneux, a couple of graveyards away from a young soldier whom, 10 years later, would have been his brother-in-law. His portrait is still in my room to this day ...

Its funny... I just came back from Fort Vaux and, well, I can see a huge difference. The Fort de Vaux map does not look the same than the actual Fort. Apparently, both Fort de Vaux and Douaumont was the most heavily bombarded areas in the war. The Fort now has hills laying on the sides of the fort, rusted barbed wire that are still visible to this day and a lot more of differences. You're videos speak of how high Battlefields audio is, seconded only by its fantastic visuals. And how the 2 work beautifully together to really make you feel like you there.
I really love how you made this video! Keep it up! I visited Verdun when I was like idk 10. I went inside Fort Douaumont and honestly with the damp walls, the cold atmosphere and the complete darkness I really don't know how the French could keep fighting in these conditions. Then I went to Samogneux, just imagine the loss of people's home, thousands of people lost everything, husband, brothers and their home. Right, the somme was the worst day for Britain in the army history. but I'm saying for ME Verdun was cruel. (the cold, the infernal bombardment, a whole year of battle...) you get the picture. but you're right, Passendaele and the Somme were cruel too.
My Grandfather was Giuseppe Caglieresi, an Italian worker who had to fight for the country. My father told me some of his stories and one is like "we were 250 or so before the assault, after failing it we came back to our lines in 26." Lately for what I've been able to find he was wounded in the Bainsizza Plain, Second Isonzo Battle in 1916. He was in the trench or in a hole in the no man's land, a shell hit the soldiers next to him where there were some of his friend, he found two of them wounded but alive, he carried them back to the main Italian line through the crossfire between Austrians and Italians. Was wounded and awarded with the Croce al Merito di Guerra (Cross for Valor in War). Lately some high rank officer put him in office instead of reassign him back to his regiment. Afer the war he opened a gun shop in my town, one of the best at the time. He loved life, women and hunting. Always in a good manner. I know that he talked a bit about war but wasn't able too much, for the tears and pain of what he have seen. We, as European have the responsibility to not making it happen again. "War does not determine who is right, just who is left" Soldato Giuseppe Caglieresi, PRESENTE!
in a war who you're fighting against is an enemy. But if you put away the uniform and the weapon he became your brother....-totally by me edit: you should've name the flame trooper Hans for the sake of the meme .-.
I've been in Vaux. It's far more claustrophobic than the game shows. When you walk the hallways and corridors you only can think" I want to get out!" And that's without anyone shooting at me... Places to visit in Verdun: the Verdun fortress in the city is a museum. The fort Vaux , the fort of Douaumont and the Douaumont Ossuary. The museum at Fleury. And much, much more. Nowadays you are allowed to walk the forests and find all the trenches were they were left back then.... But beware of unexploded ordnance, literally everywhere you look, you'll find unexploded stuff. In the sixties it was forbidden to go into the forests and signs " Danger de Mort" (lethal danger) hung everywhere. The signs are gone but the explosives not...
Thank you for these videos! I've been playing with no HUD for 2 days and it's the most fun i had, i think it even improves my attention to detail and takes me out of my comfort zone of shooting a little red dot and getting an undeserved kill
@@AuroraDorealusnot with my pc rn but i think its in gameplay, if not that its in video. Its probably called "user interface" or smth. Hope this helps
Wow that was fantastic. You really captured a war like feel with this. Might I offer two points of constructive criticism though? The age of these soldiers when you show their deaths. I'm seeing late 20's and mid 30's by the math I'm doing. Keep in mind the young were the ones that really fought all this, so people like 18-25 made up a massive amount of people. Of course older ones did too, but the real tragic feeling of playing that first camping mission is just seeing how young they really were when you died. The 2nd criticism would be how fast you advance the text. I feel at some parts (like updating when pushing into the fort and the ending bit) the text advanced too quick, and that it would be more powerful if you let it linger for a few seconds longer as the somber music sits in. Just my two cents. Aside from that, I heavily enjoyed it, and I hope you keep making more of these. You've got a subscriber.
At one point I only played BF1 with no hud. It's a little harder to navigate the map knowing which objectives are where but it makes you better and it helped me to the point where I could easily spot what country a soldier was for basically instantly(this mattered because I play hardcore servers) even from a distance. Plus it's very immersive that way.
Qwark007 yup since coincidentally my teacher likes video games mostly 90's games so for no reason he accepted this as my report (I live in a different country with different teacher's)
Damn I love the education valor that you put into your films. That show us that you really care about your videos. I love those kind of gameplays so keep it up mate.
I remember one time I was playing this map and while I was walking down a hallway, 6-7 German soldiers came rounding the corner and shot me to hell. The way some of them kneel-slided around the corner made this so memorable.
Honestly you should be thanking all of your grandfathers, imagine the hell they’ve been in especially in the revolutionary war where soldiers bravely ran through waves of cannons flying past them. It always makes me wonder if we’ll ever get to meet them after death
This is exactly what I desire in RUclips: a good compelling video made by a creator who engages in conversation with his viewers. I hate to be cliché, but you deserve more subs. And props to you for citing your clip sources,
In the first world war machine guns were usually stationary and the majority of the soldiers used bolt action so the sight of all these machine guns in a ww1 game is historically inaccurate
That music in the background and no hud shows how war is brutal, and even sometimes worthless. RIP all people who fought for their country, for freedom, for they way home and people who had to fought in other armies like polish men im russian, prussian and austrio hungarian armies.
I have a lot of beef against BF1 compared to Verdun (unrealistic mechanics and sounds, supersoldiers, weird weapons, historical inaccuracy), but I have to give them one thing. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. All the craters, trenches, mud, procedural terrain destruction... that is really good.
The Fahter of my grandfahter was in the German army he was in Verdun the Last words he say to may Gradfahter was „Krieg ist die Höhle ich liebe dich“ ( war is hell i love you ) he never Come back😔
You can definitely give it a try. Be warned that you’ll die more often than usual though. But the immersion is amazing! I’m glad that this video had influenced your gameplay experience. Thank you for watching! 😃
Flamethrower section is a pure panic. Just you, with weapon. Your breath rhythm your life as same as enemy scream to the dead, queued to met his maker. Or better yet. That your breath might be the last. Haunting beautifulz
This game does a fantastic job of showing the brutality of war, especially that of WWI. No cheezy dialogue, no melodramatic music, no glorification of the horrors of battle.
My Great great granddad was killed in France half an hour before the treaty came into effect, and my great grandad died in Auschwitz as a PoW, while my great grandma was accused of being a Resistance spy and shot in Occupied France, my great granduncle was the only one who survived but shot himself in 1958, and most of the family on my dad's side got bombed during the war.
I always thought this game would be better / more realistic if you attacked in waves, like you can’t respawn for a certain amount of time and everyone does all at once (unless they’re still alive from the last wave). That would really give it the Great War feel

Et oui, merde... C'était vraiment violent. Ils ont envoye 1 million soldats a leurs morts.
Darius Ventouras très vrai et thanks for watching :)
Darius Ventouras the Somme and passendaele were pretty cruel too
Right, the somme was the worst day for Britain in the army history. but I'm saying for ME Verdun was cruel. (the cold, the infernal bombardment, a whole year of battle...) you get the picture. but you're right, Passendaele and the Somme were cruel too.
My Grandfather was Giuseppe Caglieresi, an Italian worker who had to fight for the country.
My father told me some of his stories and one is like "we were 250 or so before the assault, after failing it we came back to our lines in 26."
Lately for what I've been able to find he was wounded in the Bainsizza Plain, Second Isonzo Battle in 1916.
"War does not determine who is right, just who is left"
Soldato Giuseppe Caglieresi, PRESENTE!
Muchos respetos a tu familiar, espero que apresar de la guerra haya tenido una buena vida
in a war who you're fighting against is an enemy. But if you put away the uniform and the weapon he became your brother....-totally by me
edit: you should've name the flame trooper Hans for the sake of the meme .-.
Rizkiradi Alam
Your brother from another mother
Rizkiradi Alam HaNs
Holy shot that is he lamest fucking thing I've ever heard.
Hans! Get the flammenwerfer!
Put the away the uniform and the weapon, you got the same dude just without a uniform and trying to kill you with his hands
How do you play without HUD? I've got the PS4 version of this game, and I want to try this soo baddd..
@@AuroraDorealusnot with my pc rn but i think its in gameplay, if not that its in video. Its probably called "user interface" or smth. Hope this helps
1:42 this man later on was reincarnated in a swamp and became a legendary meme.
Stefan vetter got a brutal death
Isaac Bolo stefan is my middle name
Stefan Vetter is just lucky his flame thrower doesn't magically hurt fellow German soldiers, or else he would have fried more friendlies and enemies.
Don't worry, there are a couple of improvements thats been required making these types of video. And thanks for your feedback!
7:53 wassup?
5:19 They actually use the trench shovel as a weapon instead of an unwieldy bayonet on a rifle just like the actual war.
1:42 "Somebody once told me the world will gonna roll me..."
Finn Vetter at 13:54 came to the wrong neighborhood XD
u just got a subscriber, since my teacher accepting this video for my report I hope to see you making historical and action bf1 vids ;)
Did your teacher really accepted this!? Also thanks! :D
Qwark007 yup since coincidentally my teacher likes video games mostly 90's games so for no reason he accepted this as my report (I live in a different country with different teacher's)
Aaaahhhh got it.
Bruh, that’s not how school works
That opening speech is so awesome.
I do put alot of effort for these and I had to actually do alot of research too which makes me care for videos like this. And thanks :)
One of my ancestor fought close to Verdun, took part at the recapture of Deaumont at the end of 1916. He did survive.
What his name?
Damn I love the education valor that you put into your films. That show us that you really care about your videos.
I love those kind of gameplays so keep it up mate.
I remember one time I was playing this map and while I was walking down a hallway, 6-7 German soldiers came rounding the corner and shot me to hell. The way some of them kneel-slided around the corner made this so memorable.
Ah yes, It wasn’t the artillery that killed the most people. It was lag and rubberbanding
I can't believe you kill me with a pistol, but I am not angry, you're just doing your duty.
CraZy XD how do you even know that was you in the video? 😂
I was Killed with a pistol that was like yours.
Any translations for what the German officer says at the beginning?
"The bombardement is over...we will not wait any longer. Lets destroy this fort an raise your flag on their roof. Forward!"
Thanks Maximus
@@MaximusDezimus omg I always thought it said: pissen wir auf ihrem Dach, which means lets piss on their roofs
@@noekahn2073 lmfao
Karl Rohrmann: killed two people with a shovel, and charged into fortifications with a Luger....
Shrek left the swap to join the axis forces and fight and die for the kaiser. He will be missed
What follows next is in-game latency, you are not expected to move properly
Well done man this is your best video yet!
4:45 teleports Infront of you...
"ITS FREE REAL ESTATE"
Call of Duty: we got robots and robo limbs for people!!
Battlefield: player's can travel through 20th century forts and trenches
Honestly you should be thanking all of your grandfathers, imagine the hell they’ve been in especially in the revolutionary war where soldiers bravely ran through waves of cannons flying past them. It always makes me wonder if we’ll ever get to meet them after death
Finn vetter should've been awarded the highest honors for fighting with just a mace, a pistol, and a few grenades. A true madlad
1:37-1:38 Dammit, gets me everytime.
Your videos always are worth time watching.
In war is NOT determined who is Win AND right, But war is determined WHO IS LEFT
This is exactly what I desire in RUclips: a good compelling video made by a creator who engages in conversation with his viewers. I hate to be cliché, but you deserve more subs. And props to you for citing your clip sources,
Ahhh cheers for that!
In the first world war machine guns were usually stationary and the majority of the soldiers used bolt action so the sight of all these machine guns in a ww1 game is historically inaccurate
I totally agree, I suppose that I was rying to use the bipod equipted with any machine guns so that I can re-enact them as stationary weapons
Hats off to mr Holger Schreck, young man fought bravely, may god rest his soul.
5:46 this is the real way they got soldiers to the Western front
*teleportation*
So this is WW1, and you play as a German soldier. Imagine the twist if you actually play as young Adolf
You're a runner then
What follows is Frontline Lag war.
You are not expected to connect.
"Ills ne passeront pas" or "They shall not pass" reminds me a lot of the Lord of The Rings which is probably very fitting.
Jrr Tolkien fought in ww1 and got the inspiration for the book
YOUUUU SHALL NOOOOTTTT PAAAAASSSSS!!!
14:15 hey, that me!
There is nobody there
Hol'up
This style of videos are amazing and very very addictive
Looks like a movie
Great Job man
That music in the background and no hud shows how war is brutal, and even sometimes worthless.
12:01... those last moments... damn...
The Fahter of my grandfahter was in the German army he was in Verdun the Last words he say to may Gradfahter was „Krieg ist die Höhle ich liebe dich“ ( war is hell i love you ) he never Come back😔
I've been playing BF1 since release and never tried it with no HUD. I might try that out today.
4:37 *insert Wilhelm scream*

You really start to feel that sense of "How am i still alive?"
07:33
Then it happens.
1:42 Schreck is love, Schreck is life
One of your best videos next to the Peronne clip. Keep up the good work, very cool/interesting
I hope Finn and Stefan.... will have a *Vetter* life in heaven
I see what you did there...
I think I'm addicted to these videos of yours. Please make more.
I would LOVE to see a remake of Verdun on this game engine
13:23 when the doom music kicks in
Dude I love that map me and my friend played that and the whole server was charging into he bunker it wad crazy and alot of bodies every where.
I feel like I’m in Verdun, fighting. For my life.
God damnit. I’m gonna cry
That easter egg freaks me out.
Maślany Łowca what easter egg?
That one at the very end. With isolation room.
where is this an easter egg?
This game does a fantastic job of showing the brutality of war, especially that of WWI. No cheezy dialogue, no melodramatic music, no glorification of the horrors of battle.
15:39 WTF is that.
Bf 1 is so realistic
To see that some of these characters were 20 when died just puts things into perspective of how it was in real life.
