I am in Vermont. Had a band of rain go through a little while ago and all the snow came off my back roof. I am at 1750', with 1.5' of snow in the yard. Lower elevations are in trouble.

Instead of just making assumptions that everyome is out to scare you ,maybe try educating yourself on what a bomb cyclone is. It's called a bomb cyclone because it comes from the term "bombogenesis" which is a storm that intensifies rapidly and can create large impacts such as heavy snow, rain, high winds and coastal flooding. For a storm to be considered a bomb cyclone, it has to undergo a rapid pressure drop of at least 24 millibars in just 24 hours.

@annehedonia156 you'd have to be deeply into the technical aspects meteorology It's been around since 1980. It's not something that was just made up in the last few years. Which it looks like you're trying to assert. And that's just not the case. That's the hilarious thing about social media. People are hearing stuff that's been around for decades for the 1st time and thinking it's new when it isn't. The 1st time I heard "bombogenesis" and "Bomb cyclone " was 1990 in college.
It's origins are easily searched. It's not made up "to scare people"
METs terminology of weather phenomenon didn't spread very far in all those years becuse there was only books and word of mouth within atmospheric sciences. Now with the internet MET terminology you'd otherwise probably never hear is every where being disseminated by laypersons who think it's made up.
