Jurassic Park: The Ride was a water-based amusement ride that is based on Steven Spielberg's hit film Jurassic Park and Michael Crichton's novel located at Universal Studios Hollywood. The ride was actually researched and built while the Jurassic Park film was still in its production phase. It opened on June 21, 1996. Duplicates of the ride have since been built at Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Japan. A river rapids ride version of the attraction, Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, opened in Universal Studios Singapore in 2010, and was planned to open in Universal Studios Dubailand before that park was cancelled.
The ride is designed to have the feel of Isla Nublar. Guests begin the queue by walking under the Jurassic Park Sign before waiting under an open-wall building. A tour guide appears on television monitors in the building, reviewing boarding and ride safety. She says, "Hi, I'm Gwen, one of your excursion hostesses here at Jurassic Park, and I want to welcome you to the river adventure. You will be placed in rows of five people each. Then the gates will open and one of our assistants will help you into the boat. As you enter the boat, use the rail for balance and the seat as a step. Help smaller children on board and, to be safe, place them in the middle of the row. And remember no smoking, no eating or drinking, and absolutely no flash photography. If you do intend to take photos during the ride, remember there is a good chance that you, and your camera, will get wet. Thank you for joining us and paying attention for all our safety requirements. Now, get ready to embark on the experience of a lifetime on The Jurassic Park River Adventure!" Other videos will play, withs some about the "safety of the ride" spoken by InGen employees, John Hammond talking about the dinosaurs, and music from the first film in the background. Guests are then split into two lines to board their tour boats for the ride.
On May 10, 2018, it was announced that the Hollywood location would be receiving a Jurassic World remodel. The attraction was becoming outdated due to the film's huge success in 2015. Jurassic Park: The Ride would have its last operating day on September 3, 2018; the ride then closed September 4. After being closed for 10 months, it reopened on July 12, 2019 as Jurassic World: The Ride. The ride includes all new animatronics and special effects.

This ride was AWESOME. I rode it at Orlando, and I love how just when they manage to convince you it's a tame ride, they're like "OH HAHA LET'S DROP THEM. WHEEE!"

Really enjoyed this ride! The only thing was that the barrier rather dug into my chest when we went up the waterslide. The trip down was fun, but thank god there were no more downs!

Wow! That looks like so much fun! I was at Universal Studios Hollywood back in 1994 and I went on just about every ride except for Jurassic Park The Ride! Of course my mom was kind enough to take me! We had an awesome time!

Waited forever, got soaking wet and spent half the day freezing, but this ride was soooooo completely, totally worth it!!!! The T-Rex - are you kidding me? That was insanely insane!!!! The floating Mickey Mouse ears -lol!!!!! This ride, man, this ride is the fine wine of theme park rides.

Hunter Davenport It was put in place for Disneylands 50th anniversary. Originally it had the name Michael on it in honor of Michael Eisner, it was then changed to Kerr who was the manager of the ride. It's also a reference to the movie where Jeff Goldblum's character says that Jurassic park is like It's a small world...except if jurassic park were to ever break down the guests would be eaten. Both Disneyland and Universal Studios both have a pretty good relationship. Employees at both parks receive discounts at each others parks.

That Fall Almost Made Me Have An Heart Attack. AND IT'S EVEN SCARIER WHEN YOU RIDE THE THING!!!!
I go on this ride every three months I visit the theme park. I remember one time I went on the ride on a really cold day and there was no wait, and once we would finish, the chill employee just started the ride again and again. On one of the rides, I was sitting on the front row all the way to the right which is where you get wet the most. When we dropped, I got so wet because the cannons were on and we went so fast that the water made a wave and hit the wall at the end of the ride and came back at my cart ride. I got so wet and was freezing the rest of the day

I went on this ride in Florida and honestly I was so happy about it I didn't even notice there was a huge drop before I got on it but it was still REALLY fun !!

I went on this ride around February and when we got close to the last drop, our boat stopped. of course, we thought it was part of the show and started to laugh. turned out it was a technical difficulty and we had to get out of the boat. they gave us a free drink / ride pass, but it was the end of the day and had to go. I was so disappointed going back to the hotel :/

In 2007 my family, my brothers soccer team, and I went to this park the day before Thanksgiving and it was one of the coldest days in Orlando I can remember. The park wasn't crowded at all in the first place, and everyone was avoiding the water rides so we rode this with no wait, the only ones in the boat. I was 9 and I was so scared but it was so much fun.
Heh, I went on this and didn't even notice the first Tyrannosaurus or how long the drop was. It felt like 'bloop' and then it was over xD
When you go up the slope at 6:35 you know you're in for some shit. Btw the drop in the video looks boring but irl it feels like you're falling 20 stories it was terrifying but in a totally fun way

Anyone who says Orlando has the better version of this ride is wrong. We have more dinosaurs and even though the drop is smaller by one foot it's still a lot steeper. Also most people don't suspect the trex to come out. But when he does he gets way closer to you thean the one in Orlando and in the Orlando one he just roaring at you while in hollywood he literally tries to EAT you.

This video was uploaded in 2010, they were way less strict with it back then. Now they announce over the loudspeaker during the ride if you have a camera out! crazy!
Now they say if you're gonna record be aware that you and your camera will get wet

I have been on both the Orlando and Hollywood version of Jurassic Park: River Adventure almost a record number of times (BOTH VERSIONS ARE AWESOME!).
I live in Florida, but as glad as I am that the ride is in Orlando, I have to say that the Hollywood version is definitely superior and more well done!

I think they need to redo/refurbish this. Until the drop at the end it's just boring and buggy...they send the rafts so close together that you see everything happening to the raft ahead of you - the animatronics are really slow and crappy looking and the audio is often out of sync. I love JP and it just doesn't do it justice...something more along the lines of a gory version of Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom would be incredible.
You're in for a treat then :) Jurassic Park is down for a two week refurb right now!!! They only send boats one right after the other if they've reached peak season. Most other times they send them out every other minute.
It was through this video that I got to know Jurassic park The Ride, currently it's called jurassic world The Ride, now I'm just waiting for the release of jurassic world Domínion 😅

I wish there was a drink or a tablet or something that I could take that would revert my consciousness back to that of a nine-year-old so that I could get the most out of rides like this. Alas, I am now thirty-six, and rides like this just seem kid of... less magical. Less terror-inspiring. I miss being frightened like I used to be.

Despite that I've never been on the Universal Studios Hollywood version of the Jurassic Park ride, I sure do miss it.
