      A lot of people overlook the Comstock Laws he passed which put many americans in jail for expressing their personal opinions in writing. Two doctors were arrested under this law because they wrote letters to each other about their opinions on abortion. If those laws were around today people would get thrown in prison for expressing opinions online.

      -Screened Birth of a Nation at the White House then called it “historically accurate”
      -Excluded African Americans out of Federal Government jobs

    Any Best Presidents list that doesn't have Washington at 1 or 2 isn't worth the air it takes to speak it. It belies a lack of understanding of the magnitude of the difficulty in creating a new nation. To achieve everything he did and then to decline the opportunity to essentially become a king took enormous integrity, restraint, and humility. With the possible exception of Lincoln, there's nobody who deserves to be higher on this list.

      Funny.
      Taft was dealt a bad hand from the start, never wanting the job to begin with. Yet, he had an impressive record, initiating a variety of antitrust actions against corporations (namely US Steel, something even Roosevelt had been reluctant to pursue), instituting import tariffs against foreign powers like the United Kingdom and attempting to peacefully expand US influence in Asia and Latin America. He supported liberalizing immigration standards, especially for immigrants from Japan and China, although congressional and state opposition limited his ability to achieve reforms in this area. He appointed an amazing six judges to the Supreme Court (only George Washington and Franklin D. Roosevelt could claim more, with seven each) while in office. Oh, and he upgraded the White House stables to a garage for automobiles. AND his poor wife suffered a stroke, and he spent half his term teaching her how to talk again.
      Yet, the one thing everyone remembers about him was that he weighed 400 pounds, and for the record, he lost 80 pounds after leaving office. Take it from someone who is himself overweight, that ain't easy.

    • @t3hpoopsmith
      @t3hpoopsmith 3 месяца назад +2

      He didn't want to abolish it. That's not what the Declaration of Independence was for. He wanted to blame the Great Britain for introducing the evil system of slavery to the American continent as justification for why America should declare independence. He of course was vetoed from including this clause. He was a brilliant but complicated man. A treatment to how human beings are so comfortable with contradictions, but he himself even acknowledged the predicament he was in where he knew slavery was evil but he was hopelessly dependent on it for his own financial preservation.

Sure, make The Little Mermaid black, no reasonable person will be distraught about it because it's a fictional character whose skin color is of no significance in the story. Jefferson, on the other hand, was a real person who lived through a tragic racial period in US history so to play with his race betrays the historical implications and just makes absolutely no sense.

    How is Obama better than Clinton? The economy was better under Clinton, and our foreign relations were better. Under Obama, our economy struggled and there were incidents like in Benghazi. The only reason I can see Obama better is that he was more likeable. Some people didn't like Clinton when he was president. If thats the case, then Kennedy should go in front of Johnson.

    This list is a joke. Besides Johnson, JFK, Obama shouldn’t be there, why is Jefferson and Washington not portrays of them but a white face show?
    And the list skipped every president in the 19th century besides Lincoln

      @@Peizxcv No only Obama shouldn't be on the list for his pro-establishment stance and policy but others you'd mention were worthy on the list, JFK for example managed to end economic crisis and initiated it's recovery, one of his best achievements was the withdrawal of soldiers in Vietnam which temporarily calm the tension in the country.
