Thanks for posting the 4 Jaw Showdown. I watched Stan's live feed all day long, including the 4 Jaw, but seeing the replay from a different angle was great.
John Hi! Just a correction my name and RUclips Channel is "Bruce Whitham", not as shown on the Video. Rick wonderful job on the video, much appreciate the shout out and all the coverage it was an excellent event enjoyed by all and the combined effort was truly something missing in many ways outside of this gathering. Hundreds of years of experience being shared freely. Thanks Bruce.
So awesome that Keith won the 4 jaw comp, so sad for Adam, but hey if you loose to Keith it still isn't a bad day! lol Old devious Tom though, that rigged chuck key was hillarious. Wish I could have joined you guys!
Tom Z did an excellent job on the live stream. Under the gun and he pulled through to make sure the 4-jaw showdown got streamed. Great video and walk around, John. The talk with Bruce from Australia was good stuff. Cheers, thanks for the coverage. :)
Well done Kieth. You are kind of a loaded gun around there.Great bash and a bunch of really happy people with lots of stuff for everyone. It all looked like an all round easy/fun day.Did you make any skid marks on yer hands getting that belt together? It would be appropriate if so and if not,,,,,,dam yer good.Great stuff sir!,,,,,,The Canuk.
I call for a rematch, but this time in Adams shop in Florida....lol.....Just kidding..... Good Job Keith!! Looks like good times had by all. Thanks for sharing John!! Kevin
I know he was using a ring gage, but was the measurement adjusted for temperature? The ring gage marking is only valid at 68 degrees, and at 84 degrees it would be close to 4 tenths bigger, not to mention people handling the ring gage and/or micrometers in a way that alters the accuracy of the measurement.
Abom got lucky on the first 4 jaw Chuck run I think ;). Flame straightening is still in the realm of pixie magic for me. I tried it a few times, came out worse than when I started XD
over here in Austria they are pretty expensive classes and it always is fascinating to see experts flame straighten things like shafts truck frames I-beams and so on... I would say it takes a lot of experience of flame straightening to become as accurate as Keith is
Occams Sawzall or have someone like Keith straighten it... by the way flame straightening is even done on newly produced parts to remove stresses that show up during fabrication as well ;) but you never see that in the company videos online :P
Not all of us do, I flame straightened one of my big crane rails in a video and have to straighten items after heat treating all the time. That transmission shaft video where I lengthened a splined shaft by plug welding involved a lot of flame straightening to get it back true after welding.
bcbloc02 this is why it is a technique being told over here in welding classes for quite some expenses... just bad that I am no welder right now... but no one knows what the future might bring
+Richard Stuchlik That's actually tough to do since a programmer would need to know your exact parameters on your machine for a correct post. Even identical machines with identical controllers may have different parameters turned on or off. It can be done, but often more trouble than it's worth. Too much back and forth trying to tweak this or that to get it to run correctly both code wise and machine power and available cutters. Better to either program the part yourself for your machine, or just have a shop machine do the whole thing for you. I've programmed parts for outside people before, but that's only when I had a post I knew worked spot on for their machine specs and knew that they would buy or had the exact cutters I specified. Programming a part for someone else to run is actually very time consuming and requires a huge attention to detail with accurate setup sheets and tool lists detailing part origins, holder dimensions, tool dimensions, out of holder length etc etc
James Killroy's joke about "very near" instead of vernier was great!
Great seeing you again John and you got some great footage!
Better get to practicing for next year, that belt looked good on you. :-)
What a great looking time can't believe Adam was detrhowned from the 4 jaw. awesome coverage.
Thanks for posting the 4 Jaw Showdown. I watched Stan's live feed all day long, including the 4 Jaw, but seeing the replay from a different angle was great.
John, thank you for sharing the video clips and it was a pleasure meeting you at the Summer Bash 2016.

I just looked at the date. Damn, I thought it was the 2019 bash. I thought Adam lost more weight than that.
nice to see all the friendly faces!
I really enjoyed the bash and I got my Machinery's handbook signed by most creators but not all, maybe next year I'll bring it again for the others.

Chuck key broke? Like AvE drunkenly mumbles: Run what ya brung!
Adam was a Great sport with Tom's TomFoolery. Great Video John. Like the variety of coverage of the competition events. Thank you.
quick question really doesn't have anything to do with this video but do you sell or trade cnc programs or anything like that
You mean like someone programming a part and sending you the machine code?
yes exactly that
