BNSF Intermodal blitzing past La Plata, MO Amtrak Station on June 14, 2022.

- The Santa Fe Historical and Modeling Society convention in Kansas City during the week of June 13th sponsored an Amtrak tour to La Plata and Marceline, MO where we got to tour historic sites including the famous @VirtualRailfan camera site. It was an amazing trip, with great rail fanning and great local hosts. Even at a safe distance from the track, the power of the train at 70 MPH is completely overwhelming. Stay safe around trains!
The train was filmed with a DJI Mimo Action cam in HDR 4K @30 FPS.

As someone from Laplata MO, I can confirm that trains tend to fly thru here quite often.
I watch @virtualrailfan pretty much all the time at La Plata. You all have a great cam, great people, and a great community! I really enjoyed my visit and look forward to my next visit in ‘23!
I will be visiting the train station for the first time in early October and I cannot wait for that visit. I hope to see trains as fast as this one. I hope the weather is nice during my fall visit with no snow and only fall colors. Any places to get a meal in La Plata? I will be staying in Kirksville and I hope the highway between the two cities is a good one. Any travel tips in the area are greatly appreciated and thank you!

I was behind a fence and well beyond the “safety” strips. It felt way too close! It was nuts!

Near where I live outside of Harrisburg Pennsylvania I have a favorite spot underneath a bridge which goes over 2 Norfolk Southern busy tracks and I'll sit under the bridge and record trains going by. The top speed allowed at that area is 45mph for the trains though!! Where I sit the nearest track is about 25 feet away!!
