- ZigZag’s Splash Day, a home built Wharrham Tiki 30 that took 4 years to complete in St. John USVI. It’s that special day that we’ve all been waiting for. We tried to edit to it all in a short 8 minutes for our loved ones, friends, and sailing lovers. Alex almost single handedly built this boat and mast out of hard woods, plywood, epoxy and fiberglass. All the editing, videography and smoothie making is done by Alex’s partner, Katie.

So proud of everything that went into that day!!!! I almost did a voice over for this vid but I found that the harder you look at the video the more details unveil themself! ❤ thanks for taking the time to click!
🌊💙✨
Such nervous satisfaction in seeing Zig Zag finally floating. Well done to you both.
So nervous about launching!
Well done to the launch of an amazing project.
Thank you so much!!!
Hey there Guys,
First up, Congratulations!!
It’s an amazing step you’ve just made.
We know, with great intimacy, the nervous energy that flows when doing what you’ve done.
Last year we launched our Tangaroa 35, Curious, at Pirates Cove, Alabama, in a similar fashion. The relief was huge when she finally floated and it’s been big grins ever since.
Hopefully we’ll catch up in the islands some time!
🍻🍻🍻
@journeyislandstyle3786 Thank you so much! It was nail biting for sure. The comfort being apart of the wharram family means so much! Reach out when your down here(: Cheers ⛵️🌊✨
What a day!! Many truly frightening moves I am sure but awesome to see her float. Congrats
Wow 👌🏻
Cool boat cool name
Thanks friend🙏
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing S/V My Inspiration hope to see you around
Great job! Congratulations! You said it took 4 years to build it in your other video. Yeah. A lot of work and time. Gorgeous vessel.
I can't wait for the build videos. I hope you do them here on RUclips too.
Make them an hour long. I remember watching a couple from Croatia I believe. They built a Tiki 26. They have videos here on RUclips.
Away. When he was lashing his beams to the hull. He would take three or four wraps around a screwdriver and pull the line tight. Then pass the line around the beam & cleat.
Anyway. Great job! 🍻
Yep. Took us four years to build. We plan on making a technical tour video with some construction footage thrown in.
Great video!
I am nust about to start on a Tiki 30.
Please post lots more videos, including an obscenely detailed tour with close-ups of every square inch and any video you have of the build. :)
Thanks!
Thanks so much. We are working on getting everything organized before we do a full tour video. All of our build videos can be found on Instagram.
@@ZigZagSailing_113 Cool, this is the motivation I need to finally get on Instagram (I'm old). :)
Beautiful Wharram!
Thanks!
Would the lashing of the ties be stronger if wet rope had been used?
Nice job.
Do you plan to live on board or travel long term ? Or mainly daysailing or short cruising ?
Did yall film the build?
Yes. Most of that footage is on our instagram.
