Rockie was at the Jazz Cafe in London a few years ago, he said that basically he recorded this version earlier in 1983 but A&M records shelved the project and to this day it’s unreleased ☹️ But he is in the process of securing the rights to that album so watch this space...it even has George Duke on keyboards!! 🎹

Yes this is a nice version. However Marlena Shaw's original ( & phrasing) is the best. So cool, classy & utterly sublime. Gary taylor's is 2nd favourite.

A very nice cover but in my opinion not as good as the definitive version by Marlena Shaw from 1982 which is soul perfection.
That was the first version I heard on release (until Gary later cut it) - so I have a soft spot for it ;)
