This design feature has been around as long as shortboards have and is well proven. It is surprising more people don't use it, probably because of the work involved in making it. The Al Merrick tri-plane hull and Bill Stewart hydrohull are both tamer, more production friendly derivatives of George Greenough's design theory.
Very true, Greenough's take on it has an origin design that may not totally apply to every average surfer or boards. There is evidence to the argument for speed in application to bigger surf. Design is definitely far from completion 👍
