This year was a hard one for me. There were many struggles ... only some of which I shared here. But when I look back on all the beautiful little moments that I filmed, it kind of blows my mind just how beautiful it all was despite the struggles!!!!

MY WASHING MACHINE ... people often ask what brand it is, and if I like it! The answer is ... yeeees! It's a Costway portable machine and I LOVE it! It's not nearly as fast and efficient to use as a regular washing machine. But if you can't have one for any reason, this little guy can be a real life saver. I can't understand anyone asking why you decorate and nest in your home if it's just a rental...rental or not, one month or one year, it's still "your home". I am 80 and watching your videos bring me so much joy and hope. I just sold my house and moved to an apartment because "everyone" told me I was too old to stay in that big house with the huge yard was too much for me. I moved to an apartment and I so regret it. I miss my house and yard so much. Where I live you can't really make it your home or haven because of all the rules. I guess I can live my outside life through your wonderful videos. So beautiful Kate. I'm battling Covid right now. Dr actually gave me RX, it's nasty. I'm so bummed out. I take pride in being healthy and for many years not having as much as a cold. This crud is trying to take me out. I've been on the pitty pot lately. I had a special one day conference that is on Saturday and theme was Eagerly Waiting. I've been looking forward to it for months and now I can't go. I really resonated with this video. Things don't always work out the way we planned, life happens but we still have much beauty and loveliness that surrounds us. We can find ways to be grateful. Loads of love dear cyber friend🤗❤💜💚🍁
I too, am a nester. I love being surrounded by my things, by beautiful things. Whether I rent or own, I always make my nest as comfy as possible.
When I was going thru a very dark time, I found it difficult to find beauty in anything but my daughter and grandchildren. They were what I used, in my mind, to keep going. I had a chihuahua too and she was a godsend.
On this solstice day, thank you for reminding me of all of the amazing wonder nature has to offer us.❤

Such an absolutely beautiful, beautiful video! You're such a one of a kind gorgeous girl! At 15:58 your face is just darling, you look exactly like one of those little girl face planters that is all the rage now. Then at 16:19 you show your outside light coming on, makes me need to tell you to always, always keep your beautiful light shining! And never quit creating these gorgeous, calming videos. What I loved about this year is that I have finally gotten the courage to begin the way I want to live...you have helped me with that Kate, I will be forever grateful!
I’m being reflective as well. Meet my therapist this morning , she wants me to seriously think of goals for next year.
One of the things I’m going to do is take a Master class on meditation and gardening.

When I see that a new video from you has arrived, I drop everything to watch it. Everything is so beautiful- the photography, your thoughts, the stories so moving and/or enjoyable. Thank you for sharing the highlights of your year, I hope in some small way this community helped you move through the hard times.
Oh one more thing! I went outside yesterday about an hour before sunset. Thousands, and I mean THOUSANDS, of geese - mostly snow geese flew over. Going east to west to look for fallow fields and the large local lake and one of the 'old rivers' - the Arkansas. I laughed out loud! Such joy!!!

Of course you need to decorate! I went so far that I took a large plastic tumbler with me on my first trip to Paris. It was to be a vase. I found a little flower shop with a lovely display out front. I chose red tulips - a red I'd not seen before. When I came down with the flu a few days later, I can't tell you how much they lifted my heart! That and the small Chinese restaurant next to the hotel - but that's another story.
You've been one of the most precious lights for me. This year was positively awful and yet held so many glimmers. Thank you and Charley!

I have kept photos of my favourite spots in all the seasons. I love looking at them. It gives me hope.
Ticks are nasty to deal with. A price for living where wildlife roam. Just make sure you are better prepared for next year's season and, it won't demoralize you, as much.

We moved every year or two in my childhood, so I didn't have any roots anywhere. Mamas dishes, just bits and pieces, and all the mismatched sheets and a few quilts she made were the few things that always went with us from place to place when most other things got left behind and we had to start over again. Because of those few familiar items though wherever we were was home. It got me through lots of tough times.
It was a beautiful year to look back on because of all the beautiful photo's you took and shared with us, but also all the words and feelings you shared that made us think and appreciate all the little moments and successes even more. I'm looking forward to all you will share with us in this new year.
I've lived where I am now for over 40 years and for the first time in my adult life I am hoping for a new beginning in a place as beautiful as your little cottage. Wish me luck in finding it ya'll.

I have saved an essential oil preventative and will send it to you when I find it. I understand exactly what you say about the paranoia. I love being in nature and with the trees more than anything and I'm upset that I can't indulge in that preciousness very often now. I found a gorgeous rock platform with a tree growing out of it and used to love lying there communing until I got up from there one day with 3 ticks! One a very dangerous one. The way you capture the moments that were this year , is just beautiful. My favourite was watching you play music as the silhouette in from of the window or how the seasons are so dramatically and wonderfully different as time passed. ❤ Thank you for sharing part of your year with us. Happy New Year! Hang a new calendar and start fresh!
I don’t make ‘resolutions.’ Instead I choose something new to study and a new skill to learn. And I love to set a goal for how many books to read in the year and post it on Goodreads. When I set goals like that, it works out much better for me.
(This year I’m going to learn about Russia….geography, history, civics and culture, art and music, food, etc. I’m trying to work my way around the world.
And I’m continuing my Latin studies.
I’ve added herbs and herbal remedies as a jumping off point to learn how the pharmaceutical industry developed.
And my new skill to master is fermenting foods!
My final 2024 goal is to make a quilt for each of my grandchildren. I’m going to start them in February! They are old enough now to appreciate it. I’m excited!)
