I as a singaporean will school you on this topic. Not only is our defenses designed to hold our own it is to bring the fight to our 2 imaginary and most potential enemy Malaysia and Indonesia. Our military posture is designed to bring the fight and hold it there at the enemy territory. In 48 hours enemy military will be decapitated with no foreign fighter jet in the air. These 2 countries know it and they cannot do anything to prevent it only to preemptively strike our airports which is why singapore bases our fighters in Australia, thailand and Usa. We possess KC135 stratotankers to refuel which is obviously not for defensive posturing. We possess G550 aew to detect and manage air traffic of enemy countries. WE possess himars, Aster30 pegasus arti etc. Not to mention our soldiers are the most well trained physically and intelligence wise there is no comparison. You say that singapore cannot hold its own but for your information it is designed to lead ASEAN in the event China or any actor decides to swallow south east asia. Singapore alone possess 40 F15 SG, 60 F16, 6 submarine, 6 frigates, a few LMV. Our navy possess firepower that can strike deep into enemy territory it is a long range defense or offense posturing which can area deny. 6 frigates with firepower exceeding 150Km we are looking at coverage to even Thailand by simply posturing the frigates at the malaka straits. Do you know when the F35 from Japan sink into the ocean America have to rent our 1000metres deep rescue to search for the F35? When indo sub was missing it was our capability to detect it and notify the indos. When malaysian Mh370 was missing it was our capabilities that first detected the wreckage. Singapore is small but our military posturing and quality of troops and hardware can easily decapitate any neighbouring nation after all it was designed to destroy our 2 imaginary enemies within 48hours of conflict and that was the efficiency 20 years ago.
