The lovely Venetta still gives voice lessons just a few hours from me. I miss her voice as I miss Lyndsey and Lisa. Everyone on that stage is family. If John didn’t tour for a few years he would let them know they were welcome. Everyone quit there jobs and came. He is a sweet kind man and so down to earth. John is a great showman on stage but off he is shy and he would rather stay home with his family. He always felt like a big brother I always had. His family are Australia’s family and he is loved. I read today that 12 of the top 20 albums in Australia this week are John’s. He must be feeling the love. Thank you.
Such a beautiful, stripped back performance. And so very nice to have Vanetta highlighted. Her voice is incredible. No boilerplate backup vocalists with John. It really is hard not to be moved by this, even after many repeat listens.
Vanetta Fields has had an amazing career singing with Tina Turner, Diana Ross and Joe Cocker just to name a few, but found family with John and Lindsay after touring Australia with Boz Scaggs in 1980, and after deciding to relocate to Australia she sang with John from 1986 to 1995. She has done quite a lot of musical theatre as well as being a vocal coach and is now retired living on the Gold Coast.
John Farnham your right is such a great man. He gives everyone the recognition they deserve, his backup singers, the band, the orchestra, the audience etc. you would love his song - burn for you and also -angels the live one in 2000
He and Venetta are so close because John's connection to gospel reflects Venetta's origins in gospel. They clearly have deep mutual respect. Vanetta has sung with the best - Ike and Tina Turner, Neil Diamond, Barbra Streisand, etc, but it is notable that the singer she has worked with the most is John Farnham. As I said, they have a very real, and very close connection.

Vanetta is retired now (still does coaching). from 1986 until 2019, I never saw John perform without Lindsay. I can't actually remember if they performed this at any of the shows I saw, but I've seen them all live. NEVER left disappointed.

Venetta Field with the amazing voice has also been a backing singer for Tina Turner. John is truly loved by us here in Australia. The base singer is Lindsay Fields (no relation to Venetta,) he has a beautifully deep rich voice, like warm chocolate. I could listen to them for hours.

After emigrating to Australia in 1982, she took up citizenship. She recorded and toured as one of the three backing singers for John Farnham for about 10 years(86 to 95) She also toured or recorded with many other Aussie artists when she wasn't working with John, like Richard Clapton, Australian Crawl, Marc Hunter, Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes. She's also a vocal coach and has had her own group at different times She's also performed Solo on John's stage a few times when he's had to take a break. John and Venetta have a great freindship
