    Stumbled upon this by accident, having worked in law firms, noting that judges are nothing but lawyers who have been elevated to the bench; it is no secret that some judges once lawyers, themselves don't always know the laws that they are supposed to be enforcing.

    Also judge chief justice Jorge la varga is a judge I'm pretty sure in early 90s south Florida he was filling in for a horrible judge everyone called her the hang em judge cause if you went infront of her you were done even if you were innocent .judge Jorge was there that day treated my like a human being looking at me in my eyes said I know your not a bad guy just made a few mistakes he said I'm wiping your slate clean everything dismissed .I can tell you I thought I was going to jail that day for 2 years I sold everything gave away my dog that I loved dearly and I only ever had driving shit like speeding racing driving on suspended license I have never had anything bad like a felony .so if you were the fill in judge that day thank you sir I want to shake your hand and let you know you never did see me in your court again cause that was the one stipulation was be good and slow down

    Wow that is very serious according to what was said. But as usual its a tiny slab on the hand and your free to go. What a corrupt world .

      You could not be more wrong. There is a necessary process in any legal act, and by publicly exposing this judge’s misconduct, she has been put on notice that she’s on the way out the door. Judges don’t get to keep making “mistakes,” whether they are elected or appointed, and if this judge is elected, her opponents have the right to use this reprimand to let voters know she’s behaved in a corrupt manner. At any rate, the judges are not given a lot of rope where misconduct is concerned, so unless she cleans it up fast, she’s looking at being removed from the bench and, potentially disbarment.

      @@voraciousreader3341 - sounds like a sycophant in the same profession ! Actions speak louder than words and she may not be elected so in reality her actions as a new Judge (3 counts) have a public admonishment and it is assumed everyone watches the video!

    So in other words Judges can get away with anything with a public slap on the wrist.

      "get away with anything"? As transgressions go, these were fairly minor.

    • @justcause3254
      @justcause3254 3 года назад +2

      Also, I’ve seen these where the judge gets suspended, etc. I think this is an excellent way to “scare straight” and publicly denounce an errant judge for minor transgressions, up to and including disbarment. Also, once a judge is reprimanded, if they do something stupid again, they’re done. Judges are elected. Good luck running for judge with this on your record (video shaming). Your opponent will have a field day.
      It’s one thing to violate policy, code of ethics, etc, it’s another to violate the law. And, even then laws carry very different weight. For instance, armed robbery is very different than petty theft.

      Some things to consider; many of these judges are elected by the people. Public reprimand is in their records (w/state bar) and it becomes a stumbling block when it comes to re-elections and their contenders often use that effectively against them. Second JQ/State Bar actions penalty are much more severe that include suspension w/out pay 30-90+ days, limited bar suspension w/restrictions, removal and permanent disbarment. Disbarment as a judge is a career ending action and reinstatement can be an uphill battle, unless they move to another state with less restrictions or they already are enrolled in other state's bar. Public shaming does have an effect on judges, especially from defendants that come before their bench and the community they reside in. I would like to see more states to have judicial/attorney transparencies like Florida, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Iowa, Georgia and few others.

    How many rogue judges do you guys have down there in FL?

    • @jjam8930
      @jjam8930 2 года назад

      Florida is definitely crazy town but you gotta give it to him for their sunshine laws. The only reason you hear about all these crazy people or you see these judges being reprimanded is that the state of Florida has very robust open sunshine law covering activities of the government and law enforcement. I’d say Florida has about the same amount of rogue judges as any other state especially in the south lol but at least they reprimand the craziest ones in public

    “Honorable” before her name is such a contradiction in terms. Public reprimand does not go far enough. Judges need to kept to a higher standard than “Joe public”….

    Meh, this is a ritual they have probably practiced since law school. It's not "sad" and "serious" if the presiding officer must intone it over and over. Everything you see and hear has been agreed to by both parties in advance. Politics proceeds apace behind the scenes.
