    Thanks for your encouragements and cheering me/us up! I'm not yet at the stage when I can clean along with you, but at least once I've watched one of your videos, I feel like getting up and doing something! Ok, heading out to my control board!

    Thank you. I'm feeling poorly this morning too. Seeing you just proceeding with your schedule anyway is really encouraging. Also, I,don't let myself watch you til my morning routine is done, so that really helps motivate me.

      LOL! Trust me, I have *many* days when I don't want to clean or declutter! But I set my timer and do 5 or 10 minutes and often that's all it takes to get me motivated again.

      Haha...I should explain that these clothes were already piled up on a shelf of MY closet, so I am thoroughly pleased to have them out of the way. AND I was putting off the bagging up because I thought it would take forever, since I also had some miscellaneous household items in the pile. Well, it didn't take forever, and now I have a free shelf! :D

      @regisztralniakinemakar8678 7 лет назад +1

      I gave myself a free shelf yesterday, too, by putting the bread maker back into its original box and then putting it on the top shelf in the pantry (because I don't often use it these days). :)

    Hello Diane. Thank you for your video. What a great tip to work clockwise! I always seem to zig zag all over the place then have to go back an hour later to do bits I have missed. Just finished your baby steps and didnt quite know how to continue. Got a bit overwhelmed with the Fly lady website. Fantastic info though. Already I am loving the shiny sink, made bed and swishy swipey thingy. Your video here has me on track. ..i think. :) Once again, Thank you.

    Have spent almost two hours this morning PUPA from overnight stay of 5 grandchildren, ages 8-2! I'm looking at ways to adapt the house and help train them to return toys and clothes to the proper places. They are here quite often as their Dad and Mommy are separated. The house always looks like a tornado went through after they've stayed with me. Several keys are keeping them off the electronics, having their school clothes out the night before, getting the cooperation of the other adults, being very patient and, prayer🖖🏻🙏🏻✌🏻

    • @DianeinDenmark
      @DianeinDenmark  7 лет назад

      Wow, Emy - you have your hands full! Do they enjoy using the timer (doing a PUPA at the top of the hour for 5 minutes)?

    • @differentperspective4124
      @differentperspective4124 7 лет назад

      They do like the timer, they get quite competitive and try to outdo one another! Great suggestion, thanks Dianne!

    • @DianeinDenmark
      @DianeinDenmark  7 лет назад +1

      Hi! Yes, we have a window cleaner 3/4 times a year for this house (it's three storeys high and too dangerous for me). In our weekend cabin I do them 2 or 3 times a year - and use the same method, a cloth and some spray. Not perfect but it gets the job done.

  • @sankey1988
    @sankey1988 7 лет назад

    Diane, do you mind me asking how/when your window blinds? We have slatted blinds similar to yours. Only the slats are a little further apart. They get so dusty and take about 20 minutes to clean. How would you recommend I work this into my zones?

    • @teresah7748
      @teresah7748 7 лет назад +2

      Hi Rebecca, I have horizontal slated blinds also. What works for me is when I am in that zone, I clean the windows, then pull the blinds closed so that the slats are facing me, spray a cloth (I use cut up old towels) and just wipe them over really quickly. This works in most rooms, but I find the bathroom and kitchen need to be done a bit more often. I have also used the baby wipes on them. Hope this helps!

    • @marijkekohler574
      @marijkekohler574 7 лет назад +1

      Thanks Teresa, I will try this on mine.

    • @DianeinDenmark
      @DianeinDenmark  7 лет назад

      Hi Rebecca! I do the same thing as Teresa. I close them "shut" one way and use a feather duster to get the main dust off, then wipe over with a damp cloth. Then "shut" them the other way and do the same. You could do the blinds when you are in that zone. For example, clean the blinds in the kitchen when we are in week/zone 2, clean the blinds in the bathroom in week/zone 3, the living room when we are in week/zone 5, etc. Just set your timer for 5 minutes each time and see how much you can do!

    Really, can you clean your windows that fast? I always rub and rub and rub until I can't see any glass cleaner anymore - until it's totally dry. Is that unnecessary?

    • @DianeinDenmark
      @DianeinDenmark  5 лет назад +1

      Sounds like you're possibly using too much cleaning liquid? I find microfibre cloths are the best for windows.

  • @susanevans4387

    Why do you use baby wipes so much they are not very environmentally friendly? I can understand for the toilet but not for base boards etc. I love what you do but curious

    • @missmayflower
      @missmayflower 7 лет назад +4

      The main thing that has helped me, watching every video since January, is learning to let go of perfectionism. We will never be perfect in all things. Diane has intricately sorted recycling, uses environmentally friendly cleaning products, does not use a clothes dryer, rides her bike instead of driving, does not go shopping for clothes. How can you get picky about baby wipes? If that makes her life easier, then that's just fine. How good is it for the environment to be washing your rag all the time? Not much difference. How can you be negative when she gives so generously of her time for us and is obviously having a bad day. Give your head a shake and look at the bigger picture.

      Hey. It was a simple question. You don't need to be so mean or lecturing or rush to defend. Your right she does make good choices and i wondered if there was any reason.A cloth in the wash with other stuff is less impact. I was just curious and it's supposed to be an open friendly community to share and ask. Good luck with your journey and next time write with a nicer tone to others who are also learning!

    • @DianeinDenmark
      @DianeinDenmark  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Susan, like MissMayFlower says, I try to be as 'green' as possible while keeping some balance. I like the babywipes for skirting boards because (especially in the bathroom/kitchen where it's humid), I don't need to wash out the rag every 2 seconds in order to remove all the little bits of fluff. Works for me, but use whatever method you like! :-)
