Yes I did a few times and isnt for the faint hearted or the ill prepared. Like many the other hikes in the island all the careful is little . Feliz natal e ano .
@@picturetheworld Indeed to all the hikes in Madeira when visiting and Sintra where I live and what is great people are more concerned to visit the places and forget that beside of that their is the forest and the mountains and the trails that I can enjoy without any crowds . And it is excellent having the countryside for myself . Madeira when I go I try to avoid the crowds places .🤣
Oczywiście like 👍👍
Awesome video! Can't wait to be there in a couple months. Just curious, would you recommend staying out at Pico Ruivo for sunset, or making it back close to Pico Arieiro in time for sunset?
Thank you for posting the video. The hike looks gorgeous. I have a question. If we wish to go in only one direction: Pico de Arreiro to Pico Ruivo, can we find taxis at the other end (Pico Ruivo) to take us down to Funchal if we feel tired to go back to pico de Areiro? Any info would be great. Thank you.
Hi there! Thank you for kind words ☺️ Yes, you can find transport options at Achada do Teixeira, the trail exit near Pico Ruivo, but taxis won’t always be waiting there since it's pretty remote. It’s a good idea to book a taxi in advance, just to be safe. You also organize transport back to Funchal with tour companies, which can be super convenient 🚕 Another option is to grab a taxi to Santana, a nearby town, where you’ll have better luck finding rides back to Funchal. These days, there are also companies offering a shuttle service for this hike. They’ll drop you off at Pico do Arieiro and pick you up at Pico Ruivo, so you don’t have to hike back. Just do a quick search for “Madeira hiking shuttle service” or “Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo pick-up service” and you’ll find some options 🚌 Sites like Viator or GetYourGuide also have services like this 📌
Thank you for the stunning video! I have two questions if you don't mind. 1) The total trip took you 6 hours in total (as you estimated at the beginning)? 2) the trail starts at Pico Areiro? (in other words, the taxi can take us to Pico Areiro and from there we can start the hike) Thanks again!
Hi there! Thank you for kind words 😍☺️ the whole hike took us around 7 hours. This is with making photos and videos. So without shooting and filming it would take us around 6 hours. It’s better to start at Pico do Arieiro 😊 it’s rewarding then to get to Pico Ruivo (which is the highest point of Madeira 😉

We'll be in Madeira soon and we are really looking forward to this hike! Do you know how far the stairway to heaven from the starting point? Cool vlog! 🔥Thanks for sharing!
The trail isn’t dangerous, but places outside the trail are very exposed. If you’re 100% sure you can control your child, I guess it’ll be fine. You’ll figure it out right at the beginning from Pico do Arieiro.
We’ve made this trail few times and we always started around 11/12:00. This is a good time to start the hike as at this time it isn’t too busy. Plus you will make it back to Pico do Arieiro before sunset. Perfect timing! 😊
This looks absolutely stunning folks, presentation is done so professionally! Narrated part fits perfectly!

Totally agree! If you’re careful, sporty and well prepared you won’t have any trouble up there, but it’s the same with most routes on Madeira :)
