  • Stirling's Tea Tree didn't appeal you me, at first, but it turned out to be nice and fresh. Your den will smell manly! It's another fantastic soap from Rod and Amanda over at Stirling. My shave this week is with my 1966 Slim. I had the best shave ever! It was fantastic. Be well, my friends.

    Hello Mark, I know what tea tree smells like, not that pleasant but feels nice on the skin. I have a 1964 Slim that I like to use. I really like the old Gillette razors they are my favorites. Have a great week ahead and stay safe and be well. I always enjoy your videos.

    • @FriendshipShaving

      That's what I thought upon smelling it in the pot, but during the shave the strength lessened and became quite nice and fresh. It went well with the aftershave. Perhaps that's the secret. A solely Tea Tree aftershave would be intense! Thanks for watching and joining in. All the best for the week ahead. Cheers

    Excellent shave Mark I love that brush very nice. Soap sounds great especially for people with skin issues. Hope you’re feeling back to normal. I have to say in my opinion you have one of the nicest lathers on RUclips when I first learnt to lather I picked up many tips from you. The straight sound great a nice little restoration to keep you going there it will be great to see how you progress with it. Take care all the best

      Hi Jay. That is quite the compliment about my lather, thank you. Every now and again I get a soap that isn't great, but I always get a great lather from Stirling. I'm looking forward to restoring it, or having a go. I found out I can use my old battery charger to remove rust! I'm definitely going to do a few small videos. Anyway - take care mate.

    Love my Gillette Slim that I've used since 1972 when my Tech gave out. Used it every day until I began straight razor shaving, however I still use it every other day for my head shave. Used it today on my head 3 pass, and my Crown and Sword straight razor; 3 pas on my face. I used Alphy and Becs sandalwood soap.

    • @FriendshipShaving

      Roy, I love that you have used your Slim since 1972! That is amazing and just shows what a fantastic razor it is. It's a fantastic shave. Those Gillette guys, back in the day, certainly knew a thing or two, or three! Crown and Sword! Nice. I saw a vintage German straight razor on eBay with 'RUSTY' etched on the blade. It amused me. Take care.

    Great shave Mark. I really should use my Slim Adjustable more often. As for the Tea Tree, you're right about matching it with citrus. I have the excellent SuezBana's Lemon & Tea Tree cream, and that works very well. I've also put a couple of drops of some tea tree essential oil in my hand sanitiser, which improves it's scent no end. All the best! David

    Great shave Mark. Would love some Tea Tree oil soap but it appears not been made anymore as it is not listed on Stirling's Website and no other soaps are listed as containing Tea Tree, which is a pity. Could be related to Covid and not be able to source quality Tea Tree essential. Keep safe Mark.

    • @FriendshipShaving
      @FriendshipShaving  3 года назад

      There were two left at that famous pharmacy! Yes, it certainly could be related to Covid and possibly the high price of tea tree oil, assuming the price has risen; everything else seems to have done so, during this time. Be well mate

    I know the tea tree soap from Stirling was on their sale page last summer and I haven't seen it for sale since. Not sure if it's discontinued or they couldn't get the right ingredients due to covid. I know thats why Boat Drinks isn't for sale, waiting to get the right components to make the scent again.

      I used to love face lathering and now I love bowl lathering and applying soap from the bowl. That lemon chill sounds nice but I'm a bit about using heavily mentholated products. Cheapest way to restore a straight razor is constantly increasing sandpaper grits with light pressure. Wetsand until shiny. Its very time consuming, but cheap.

    • @FriendshipShaving
      @FriendshipShaving  3 года назад

      Thanks Dan. I restored my Rubberset 400 that way, up to 5000 grit. It was time consuming! Steel is a lot harder than aluminium, so I imagine it would take longer. There's a very little bit of rust on it, not much but a lot of tarnishing. I might set up an electrolysis bath to remove the rust, using an old car battery charger. It'll be fun!
