I love this album. However, I would put Thriller, Purple Rain, What’s Going On by Marvin Gaye, and Songs In the Key of Life ahead of that album but I’m not mad at it. Congrats to Lauryn Hill on a work of art that has stood the test of time.🎉
Thriller should be somewhere in the 70s or 80s in a real list. Great album, incredibly impactful, just a bit overrated as an album. But I agree with you otherwise
Facts!
@@DonovanGG__ What? Thriller is the most impactful album there. And most memorable. 70s or 80s? Please.
Lauryn crafted a world class and clever clever clever musical, lyrical masterpiece at such a young age, and being a young mother at that too. Folks just mad because she’s no puppet and they never wanted to see her succeed.
Michael Jackson's Thriller era was the last time we all agreed on something..
Queen Lauryn Hill 👑💐🎶
Every great album is someone's perspective. There are so many great albums ❤️
Yeah, but Thriller had cultural impact globally, till to this day. But Lauryn had a great album as well.
I mean, the fact that "BREAKAWAY" by Kelly Clarkson, considered by many experts as the definition of 2000's Pop, did not even make the cut, is really sad!
“I’m gonna find you, and make you love me” ♥️
Some of the albums on the list was so questionable they forgot about a lot of people
She is # 1 and still untouched. Raw and brilliant.
I bought the album, I played the album a lot at the time.I was shocked at first to learn of this then I remember reading the lyrics at the time and thought it was genius. So yeah why not.
This list is ridiculous.
Exactly... just another load of unnecessary blah blah blah
I can't take a list seriously that has 1989 at #18 and Billie Eilish's debut at #30 higher than albums like Remain In Light, Hounds of Love, A Love Supreme, Love Deluxe, Homogenic, Innervisions and so many other groundbreaking albums.
Lmao Iost my virginity to this album
Summer of 1998 soundtrack to a very inspiring time!
Classic album 💿 astounding artist I wish she gave us more music 🎧!!!
Back to Black is a masterpiece her death or not 👏🏾🖤
The average voter for this list was probably born between 1970 and 1980. Miseducation is triggering for them. It was hitting in their glory years. So, they're passionate about it and that passion made it number one. They were kids when Thriller came out. They wouldn't feel it like those who were in the midst. I'll bet Curtis Mayfield's soundtrack to Superfly is not on the list. They don't know. The Miseducation is great but come on, Thriller had more impact, more worldwide appeal, changed how videos were made, introduced technology still used today, etc.. Thriller is definitely #1.
The difference from thriller, etc. Is that this one weaved the hip hip gospel, soul, pop etc. Here we are still talking about it twenty-six years later.
So no Paul Simon or Simon and Garfunkel in the top 100? Graceland not in the top 100? That tells me all I need to know about the validity of their list.
No Whitney or Mariah....Whateva
Even though Lauren is an emcee, I don't consider miseducation a hip-hop album. BUT that was and still is an excellent body of work that can never be duplicated. It's not a matter of taste. They are going by the numbers and the numbers don't lie. She deserves this.
This list is very questionable... No Mariah Carey , Whitney Houston or Celine Dion ?
Facts
I was so shocked and no Mariah Carey no Whitney Houston no Celine Dion and they only put one Janet Jackson album on the list and other people was missing to
They had great hits and albums but Lauren wrote all her music something the artist you mention did not achieve . Blessing
@NickVegaNYC Actually Mariah Carey writes all of her music and is in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
@@EmonBooker she’s also in Nick Cannon Hall of Fame 😂
@NickVegaNYC What does that have to do with the subject at hand? Don't down play others just to boost up your fave. I don't know what's worse, your stupidity or your ignorance. Mariah Carey has 19 # 1's on the Billboard Hot 100 and 18 of those songs she wrote.
@NickVegaNYC What does that have to do with the subject at hand? I don't know what's worse, your stupidity or your ignorance ... Mariah Carey has 19 # 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and 18 of those songs she wrote , please educate yourself and don't down play others accomplishments just to boost your fave .
Random thought, My two dream double albums would be lauren hill half hip hop and half RandB, And Andre 3000. Half hip-hop and half experimental songs 🎵
I think he's responding to the person incorrectly saying it was #1 rap album.
I think that it’s an accurate choice. 👍🏾 I would add a couple things but it’s fine.
Great TOP 10.
I think Miseducation is a great album but for me I'm not even sure if it makes my top 50. I also feel that in top 10 albums that heavily influence the direction of music should make more of a presence, while this album is very good it did not feel that groundbreaking to me.
Thriller just doesn’t have the lyrical content that Miseducation and Purple Rain do. Billy Jean is the only track that is thought provoking. The rest is pop confection. Plus, there was the conviction for inappropriate contact. No one will forget that.
MJ was never convicted. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_sexual_abuse_accusations_against_Michael_Jackson#:~:text=American%20pop%20musician%20Michael%20Jackson,during%20his%20lifetime%2C%20or%20posthumously.
Perfect point. I agree with your explication.
Conviction? He was acquited....
Absolute rubbish - first of all, Jackson was never convincted of anything. Do some research and educate yourself before making any type of bs statement on that.
Secondly, Thriller is the biggest selling album of all time spanning genres of pop, rock, soul, funk and jazz. It has a RECORD winning 8 grammys, and has some of the greatest music videos ever made associated with it. It conjures themes of gang violence, media manipulation, love deception, the paranormal… you name it… very hard to argue that there is a better (and more impactful) album than that.
Miseducation is not a deep thought provoking nor spiritual album y’all try to make it.
This list was way off for me. But I respect their opinions.
These lists are pointless, but if you're going to endeavor to do it, you should divide by genre first. Make top 10-15 lists among knowledgeable people in each genre, and finally combine those lists into a top 100. Just having random people say what they like or think is classic is how you get the recency and mainstream bias on display here. The top ten should be more diverse than what they came up with.
Alanis Morissette should have been on the list before Amy Winehouse like that’s dumb. Or maybe even Donna Summer I mean she was the queen of fucking disco and the bee gees
It is a great album.. it is not the number 1 album of all time... (time plays into this)... a top 10, yes. I would also say Lemonade shouldn't be in the top 10- and this list is written from an American (yes I know non-american's added to it) but only one none English Album, no jazz (really), no classical music (sorry, may not like it but its impact is massive), and yes Back to black should be in the bottom 50
Jeff Buckley's Grace didn't make the top 100. No Curtis Mayfield. No Al Green. No Sly & The Family Stone. No Earth, Wind & Fire. 🤷♂️
No Fiona Apple's When The Pawn, no Donna Summer, no Minnie Riperton, no Charles Mingus' Black Saint & The Sinner Lady, no Journey in Satchidanda, no Loveless etc the list left out so many great albums for questionable & ridiculous picks.
The people voted. The end.
How do you not have Ok COMPUTER in any top 10 ? Bull####
everything will be do for " delete michael jackson " ( billboard, Rolling stone, apple , etc ) how its can be number one if no one listen and know Lauren hills ( hello Europ) number one for USA ok
It is really a great album but I don’t think it should be the greatest album. The List is questionable if Beyoncé Lemonade is number 10.
🤣🤣countryonce? bleachyonce ? payonce? her and corrupt husband are clowns!
I think Lemonade is inspired by Lauryn Hill s Miseducation to be honest
@@MsDiMera2 how the stories are different. Lemonade basically focuses on a woman’s struggle with love, fighting her darkness, healing from dark side and acceptance of love that’s way different from Miseducation of Lauryn hill. Lemonade was a good album but it’s not one of the greatest albums.
Thats BS media pop garbage. I’ll name you 15,000 records better than that. Is it good ? Maybe. Not nothing magnificent. It’s all click bait .
The album is magnificent lol you can be upset it’s number 1 but come on don’t lie
@@therealwelfin not better than thriller or purple rain 😆

I've always thought the Lauryn Hill album was so overrated, now don't get me wrong I like this album, but it's still overrated. 🤷
Michael Jackson thriller the most dominant album ever. this is a bad joke and embarrassing
