In this strange game, you play a character named Plok who wants to get rid of all the fleas on his home island. Plok has the ability to shoot his arms and legs to harm enemies. To complete some stages, Plok has to kill all the fleas in the stage before the goal flag appears at the end of the stage.
Plok is in a hurry, so he looks for opportunities to travel faster. He finds slides lying around almost everywhere. He finds nice presents making him a lot faster. He finds tiny holes in the Flea Pit for big shortcuts. He finds helpful sawblades, nice guys pushing him into the right direction, and even a lovely fish which helps him climb a mountain. Even water helps him climb a mountain to discover one more slide. He also takes advantage of the fact that he can do bigger jumps without his legs.

I'm glad to see this game still getting attention. It sure had its flaws, like being _far_ too long to justify having no method of saving, but I feel it makes up for that by having a truly amazing soundtrack and being just plain fun to play.
My dad wouldn't let me get a new SNES game before I beat this game. I thought it was impossible, but I did manage to beat it after some time

It might've been a silly idea for me to come to this video so I could hear the music in this game, given that they only spend like thirty seconds on each level and boss.

Wow, this brought back memories from my childhood. I could never beat the game, but I loved it so much. Thank you very much for doing this.
I remember when this game had a sequel in the form of a webcomic. Guess the Pickfords got busy with life and stuff. But, it's nice to see this pop up in some form, again. _Plok_ is a pretty great game that was a bit too ambitious for what it ended up being.
Maybe they are getting back to the comic one day. I remember that the comic once had an hiatus that lasted nearly two years from 2015 to 2017 or so

Aaah Plok. One of my childhood games. Never completed it! Was pretty hard. And the lacking of saving didn't help either! Cool game nonetheless.
The intro pic was of flandre scarlet from touhou.

The studio behind Plok, Software Creations, was bought by Rare at a time where they were called Zippo Games. There are more details to this, so if you're interested, then you can look up the background of SC.
How to land the double hits on flea queen? i tried it alot but never actually got one, is that some frameperfect fuckery or do you think this has potential for the RTA speedrun?
Quote from my notes: "So the queen works on a set of frame rules where after the last flea is killed, she will drop at the end of the framerule. In order to pull off the trick, you need to hit her very early into a framerule otherwise she will rise to the top before you get a chance to hit her a second time. As such sometimes delaying killing a flea was necessary in order to reach the start of a new framerule." basically it's dependent on information that is invisible to RTA runners. Don't think it'd be viable but I can maybe send over the address at least.

Why Speedrunners abuse Plokontinues in Plok?
Most likely because it changes something on the map; making it faster to beat.
An example could be "Earthworm Jim 2" with the Psychro mini games. If you don't save certain puppies in that one; it can make it sooner that Psychro throws a bomb out and that's what you beat him with.
The submission notes explain it. Basically, dying and using a continue on the same stage you pick it up on will skip the level, which gets used to bypass some otherwise slow levels.
That's right, Memory and fsvgm777 did that.
