Just had this added to our summer concerts program , i thought it a bit morose at first but after researching it on here and hearing it played by a really good band my mind is changing ....... an epic piece of music .

Glad you love this. Many thanks, however euphonium and baritone are very different in sound and they both have a separate part in the standard brass band orchestration.
@@TheFestivalBrassBand Oh oops I guess I need to look things up before I go sharing my rusty knowledge of orchestral instruments. My band teacher always told me they were the same. What are the separate parts they play in orchestration? I am intrigued now. I love learning new things.
@@LoveAuntAshley The bore of the lead pipe of a Baritone is a bit smaller than the lead pipe of the euphonium. The bell of the euphonium is larger. The total length of both instruments is the same, that is why they ground tone is Bb for both of them, but the sound of a Baritone is more compact as a Euphonium is more mallow. The low brass and the high brass blend together very nicely, the piece chosen compliments the main body of the band, while cornets don't overpower the band while they are still are more prominant feature. Good Job!
