In the part 1 and II of Journey to the shipwreck we started from Mount gambier about 1200 noon and traveled on the Jubilee highway towards MIllicent through pine forests and farming landscapes. The day was just picture perfect. On our journey We stopped at few different locations to make some videos that included camera, drone, gopro and iphone. We also stopped at a petrol station near Tantanoola Pine forest to fill some fuel in our carthen We drove towards the Tantanoola township and then to the Tantanoola windfarm scenic drive. The scenic drive was magnificent and took us to this great picturesque wind farm. The landscapes on both side of the road were just amazing. The road itself was very well maintained and farmers had their properties fenced off to keep their livestock in. My wife drove the car most of the way so I could concentrate on making the videos. We drove to the Carpenter Rocks beach and went to the little shop located at the beach front. There were plenty of car parks available to park your car. If we hadn't stopped anywhere on the way we could have arrived in Carpenter Rocks in about 40 minutes from Mount Gambier. Once we park the car we went inside the little deli (shop) and ordered some fish and chips and trust me they were the best fish and chips I had in a while, the customer service was exceptional. After finishing fish and chips we walked to the beach and looked at the beautiful Bucks Bay and there were some fishing Boats anchored there. I made few videos with the drone and go pro camera, walked on the beach and saw many seagulls were just sunbathing on the warm sand at the beach.
After exploring the beach we went to this scenic lookout, to get there you have to climp number of wooden stairs. Once you are upthere the views are just breathtaking. Beautiful Australian flora on one side and the scenic ocean on the other side were just magnificent. Once you reach at the top of this hill you could also see this blowhole in the one of the island rocks nearby. I nearly lost my drone while filming the blowhole due to low battery but was lucky enough to have the drone fallen on this thick bush while bringing it back frantic. We continues our journey from there we climbed down the stairs and started driving the car towards the cape banks light house and the shipwreck. Its only abour 5-10 minutes drive from the carpenter rocks, the road is unsealed and you can also take the off road along the beach. There were few other tourists at the light house and there were also few people had there cars parked on the beach. We made read the history about the light house and the Canunda national park. From there we walked around the light house and then to the shipwreck. This shipwreck was only 1 out of hundreds that sunk along this coast line in the last couple hundred years. Many lives has been lost in the rough southern ocean. Most of the ships are under the depths of ocean. Diving is also very popular in this area to explore those Shipwrecks. This journey was absolutely beautiful and I enjoyed every minute of it. Slowly we wrapped up our day and drive safely home to Mount Gambier.
