He is right, it's not because of density that the lubes didn't mix, it's because silicone is not soluble in water, it's hydrophobic. And the densities of liquids don't affect this, for example, alcohol is less dense than water but it still mixes with water.

You shouldn't have run water through it, because that lowers the density of Silicone in the lube. Element 14 is used a lot in cube lubes and is important for the lube to last more than a day
