  • IS WANO THE WORST OR BEST ARC IN ONE PIECE???
    A question I have been thinking about for some time. I love One Piece, it is my favorite anime/manga of all time. But I have not been enjoying Wano as much as every other arc in One Piece. So lets break down what I don't like about it and see if we can change how I feel about the Wano Arc in One Piece...

    I'm looking forward to this bro! I think the raid part of Wano has been a bit underwhelming. The first two acts were really good imo and then we got here and the raid has been kinda weird tonally and really all over the place lol. This part was hyped up for a while and then we got here and it's kinda like... is this mid? Lmao and Wano fatigue setting in for sure at this point. I've seen people say it's probably better as a binge read then week to week as far as the raid goes but yeah, still a good arc, it was just kind of being hyped up as being the best arc in One Piece and it's not so far

    Regardless of what you think of Wano, you gotta respect that Oda is pulling off a single arc over 4 years

    Wano by far is the worst arc. 100 chapters of filler nonsense and literally ZERO reveals. What is the point of this dragging if Oda continues to refuse to reveal anything of relevance.

    • @jeftecoutinho
      @jeftecoutinho 2 года назад +8

      It's a chronic problem with Oda's writing: Wasting time with shit nobody wants to see instead of actually developing the major characters.
      Mr Pink is probably the worst example of this.

    • @jeftecoutinho
      @jeftecoutinho 2 года назад +6

      Some of the characters in Wano could be erased from the story and i wouldn't miss them: Yasuie, Otoko and maybe 4 of the scabbards could be erased or used for other purposes.

    I don’t think the length of the arc is the problem; if you ask me water 7 all through to post-enies lobby shouldn’t really be separated. Or at least if it should be then wano should be split into wano, onigashima and post-onigashima. Based on that the water 7 storyline was 120 chapters and personally that’s my favourite story (arc) of anything ever. I think wano’s problems come from its lack of focus, emotional investment and tension in "serious" moments. (But the recent sanji stuff has been pretty great)
    Also this comment section is hilarious to me because if the majority of the one piece fandom even saw the title of this video, there would be pitchforks. And I say this with one piece being my favourite story overall.
    I’m new to your channel but I’m looking forward to this review series.

      @@Name-jw4sj which part?

    • @Name-jw4sj
      @Name-jw4sj 2 года назад

      @@Virgil_Hawkins The whole water 7 nonsense. Water 7 served as a SET UP arc for Ennies Lobby. Water 7 is where the world government, Franky past, Robin past all needed set up. Wheras Wano Oda had Punk Hazard and Zou as set up. Including 130+ chapters taht we are now. So comparing the two acting as if they are the same length is nonsese. Water 7 and Ennies is 109 total chapters whereas Wano Punk Hazard and Zou are 200+ chapters.

    • @Virgil_Hawkins
      @Virgil_Hawkins 2 года назад

      @@Name-jw4sj by that logic you could also argue that whole cake island is a set up arc for wano as well. It led to big mom coming to wano and it also led to sanji’s storyline in wano. You could say that dressrosa is a set up arc as well. Although that’s kind of besides the point.
      Those arcs are all connected but they’re connected in the same way reverse mountain all the way to drum kingdom is connected to alabasta. All those arcs act as set up arcs, but the majority of the storylines within alabasta are fleshed out and began in alabasta (you could only really argue that whiskey peak is the only one of these arcs to have storylines that don’t truly conclude). The same is true with water 7 to post enies lobby. No storyline in water 7 is complete by the time the official water 7 arc is finished, it is very different to the way that punk hazard and zou (and wci and dressrosa) are structured. Each of those arcs have individual storylines that are completed by the time the arcs are done, but they still leave some threads open for future arcs.
      Assuming the arc is ending right now, onigashima is the climactic battle on a new island just like enies lobby.

    I personally find it hard to get invested in Wano, it's so far removed from Luffy's adventure to become Pirate King, it's a bloated, meandering arc with too little plot progression, WAY too many characters, ass pull powerups, a weak villain, and zero stakes. We know Oda's not going to kill off anyone we actually care about, and he gave way too much importance to Oden. Freeing the nation should be motivation enough, avenging Oden does not matter since we know the Scabbards will fail, and Oden is nobody to Luffy.
    Plus it's the arc that robbed Carrot of her relevance, her revenge, and her character arc, and for me that's the worst thing the arc has done.

    an arc lasting FOUR YEARS i have respect for one piece as a series although i hardly follow it nowadays but this is one of the reason i have a hard time keeping up with it when you full the arc up with a lot of exposition and a lot of different plot threads going on at once.

    • @JohnnyStar
      @JohnnyStar  2 года назад +5

      Thats the reason I have an issue with Wano. Other arcs I feel have had a better time controlling all of the different plot threads, but this arc feels like too much is going on because Oda wants this to be bigger than anything he’s done before. But again I could be wrong since I forgot a lot of the material because it’s been so long

    • @LSUchiha

      @@JohnnyStar One pieces biggest strengths are the beginning and end of an arc. At the start you have a brand new area to adventure while the looming threat is in the background and at the end you have an amazing fight with said threat, check on up the world, and more revelations about the world or characters but my biggest problem with one piece is that's legitimately almost EVERY ARC post time-skip but maybe i'm tripping. 🤷🏾‍♂️

    A lot of people don't realize that the reason they don't like Wano is the fact there is no drama or tension in the arc. This is why people argue that the Raid on Onigaishima is going to fail.

    I am personally enjoying Wano. I have been a weekly reader for over 10 years. And it’s the first time I have consistently read each chapter every release since Fishman Island. I think the stakes and the tension are there but it’s just hard to feel it when you’re a weekly reader. That’s been true for me for all the post TS arcs when I became a weekly reader. But rereading all those arcs in one go, I realized that the stakes were always there. Wano is different. I am on my toes every chapter.
