      I think that's because you can not see the beauty of your own country anymore. Quasiie home blind. I once met a Brazilian woman at a conference and I told her that I would love to go up the Amazon with one of these famous transport ships and get to know the rainforest. She could not understand that at all, as I come up with such an idea to run around in the jungle voluntarily.

    When my husband received news his job was moving us to Germany I was so sad. Our 3 options were London, Japan, or Germany. Germany was our last choice. When we arrived...my jaw dropped while driving around. We arrived in May and it was gorgeous. I immediately felt like yep this is where we should be. We are in Saarland and am always blown away how beautiful it is here. Also the people! So warm and welcoming. My neighbors and us are so close. I will miss them them so much. We leave at the end of the month...let the tears fall...

      @@gustavgnoettgen german is really difficult as soon as you come in contact with dialects i grew up with for dialects (three because of were the parts of my family are from (Sächsisch, schwäbisch, berlinerisch) and one due to were i life(Kölsch)) and honestly? Simple Communication is sometimes difficult cuz when i am nervös i just mash Everything together and use words from one dialect but pronounce them as if there are from a different one.. (also a lot of germans don't know the word "schübe" that konfused me the most)

    • @zorrothebug
      @zorrothebug 6 лет назад +2

      Personally I would find it very sad if languages would die. They should progress, evolve, renew... but thex shouldn't die.
      Languages are so precious and I think also important. If in thousand years we would have only one language left, we as humans would suffer froma lack of diversity in our possibilities to express ourselves and in describing the world, the emotions, all those impressions we are exposed to every day. More languages are equal to more diversity, more possibilities which give us more life.
      Just my 2ct...

    • @meretofabydos3645
      @meretofabydos3645 6 лет назад +3

      As time went on futher language doe the same. It changes a lot. We had so many latin based words we not now recognize as foreign anymore and when you look at 18th century letters they wew nearly half in French, because it was a fashionable at that time.
      Sometimes it is makes us feeling annoyed by the huge use of denglisch words, but after a while it will be normal as always. That fact has nothing to do with dying out, it simply a change. For language dying you have to have a very litte base of speakers and we have millions of them. Look at old forms of German as Althochdeutsch or Mittelhochdeutsch you will barely understand what is written. Today we use a new form of German, does anybody care?

      In germany there are also some ugly areas - ugly from german view. So don't be surpriced when getting out of the air-port. The nice and beautyful parts are more the rural areas. Even the romans (when trying to invading germany) where surpriced about the germanic love to their forests and this is some habbit we germans still have a little bit. Therefore we love it to have a forest or "nature" close to our homes and try to keep the nature clean.

    My best friend goes to a Danish school in Germany because we live in Schleswig-Holstein next to the border of Denmark it’s actually usual that lots of german kids here first go to a Danish kindergarden and after that on a Danish school. That’s pretty cool because when she finished school she already speaks at least 3 languages!😀
    They offer Spanish at her school now so she hopefully (😆) will be very educated when she leaves school.😊👍🏻

    I got similar rude reactions in Paris when I tried to speak French so I just stuck with English. Now it's a little better since I have more experience speaking French. In Italy it's the complete opposite, they were always telling me to talk more in Italian and encouraging me to take part in conversations. I loved the experience there so much more than in France.

      Flower Dolphin i understood that, but if you ended up speaking English, ruby's comment /explanation that the French do not speak English is just absurd. Also... So not true.
      I have not had a bad reaction to my french yet, except that it triggers people in the touristy parts to reply in English, and one offered me the German map for Versailles.

    • @flowerdolphin8920
      @flowerdolphin8920 6 лет назад +1

      Carola in Paris ah ok. I get it. Yeah, in Nice it wasn't bad either. Probably because they're used to exchange students. I spoke a lot of French there, mainly because I had to. But in Paris they all looked at me like "why is this girl speaking such perfect French, we don't talk as clean as that". And that scared me off of speaking French in Paris at least.

    If you like the combination of historical architecture and nature and live in Würzburg, I would like to recommend you a weekend trip to Kassel, two ICE train stops to the north.
    During the summer months, there are the historical cascades and artificial waterfalls running in the mountain park of Wilhelmshöhe, culminating in a > 50 m high fountain, everything between 200 and 300 years old and working without any pump, just by the natural gravitational force of the water. Google it or find it on Wikipedia.

    The reason why so many fruits and vegetables are rather cheap in Germany, is because they are imported from Holland. These products are grown in greenhouses.
    And to your awe about the beauty of this country. There are so many beautiful places to go. Take a trip down the Rhein. Vineyards galor! If the Alps are too much for you, there are lower mountains and hills in central Germany with amazing forests and wildlife! I´ve never been to the coastal regions, but from what I´ve heard, they must be fantastic, as well!
    No matter where you go in Germany, I´m sure, you´ll find something to be amazed about!

The more south you travel in NZ the more old and massive buildings you'll see. I think they had to build them like that because the weather there is quite rough. Down south there are towns with a long history of shipping and one can still see that.

    Yes... In France they don't like to speak English. My sister asked in Paris a waiter if he speaks English because she don't speak French. And the waiter just was unfriendly. In Italy people also don't speak good English or nothing English just Italian. That was my experience every time on vacation in Italy. But now problem for me. My family comes from Croatia and we know to speak a little bit Italiano. I grew up bilingual in Germany. English in school and job. I speak fluently 3 languages. In Germany we all younger people speak good English. Is a world language. But every where you come to vacation or for living first learn language. Especially when you live abroad. It's also a thing of respect. And it's makes you richer. Because every language knowledge is such a gift and a very good experience. Wish you and your family a wonderful life here in Germany. ❤️❤️❤️ Of course all over the world 🗺 are beautiful countries to explore. My favorite is Ireland. Loved it.

    one thing about the quality in germany it the law, that every company has to give 2 years of guarantee to private people. So when the product is not good, nobody wants to sell it, beacuse he can get into trouble with his customers. In Germany it‘s called „Gewährleistung“.

    You are such a niche person, I´m glad that you like Germany and it is interesting to see how people from other countries see us. We tend to have a negative image in the world, probably because of world war II and a lot of people think that all Germans are Nazis. It´s good that people like you show the people of the world that we are just like everybody else. What I do find strange is that when I travel around I always think that other Nations are better looking than we are.

    Food is TOO cheap in Germany, due to the industrialized farming, and that's bad for the environment. Better buy "bio" products, they cost a bit more, but they are better.

    • @arip3363
      @arip3363 4 года назад +2

      Do you think food is produced any different in any industrialized country? Its definitely not. Our groceries are cheap because agriculture is heavily subsidized by the government and Germans on an average are not willing to pay higher prices. I lived in the US and paid steep prices for food that is produces under no different conditions than it is here, actually even worse conditions. Also organic food is cheaper here as well than anywhere else.

    We returned from our holiday in New Zealand 4 days ago and I can't understand why you think Germany might be beautiful ;)
    New Zealand is just amazing and breathtaking. Yes, you don't have the long history. That is true. But that is absolutely not important if you have nature like that. Seeing forests almost untouched was stunning.
    We also liked Wellington and Queenstown as cities.
    And I have to say we were also lucky and saw a kiwi in the wilderness - so we just have to love this country ;)
    Well and getting to the point regarding the "attractive" germans: Obviously your friends and family visitied you in Würzburg when they said germans were attractive. Würzburg is a wine region. So I assume your friends/family just were drunk :D

    Hey there! Nice video! About glutenfree stuff... some people with intolerance can stomache sourdough bread that isn't marked as glutenfree. There is a nice market for that in Germany, but I would ask a doctor before trying. Because of the fermentation of the sourdough, some people can eat this without problems even with gluten intolerance. Just be careful when you try!

    @Antoinette Emily: Das geht ja runter wie Öl. 🤗
    Well about the history: Many towns and villages have indeed a very long history, for example the one where my mother grew up celebrated 1000 years anniversary a few years ago. Not uncommon. It is similar with universities: Many have a history that reaches back to the middle age.
    About the language aspect: The French are not representative. They have a reputation for not learning English or only very badly while everone else chose it as lingua franca, because it is rather easy to learn.
    Concerning Germans: Everyone learns English in school. Depending on the school type and your choices 5-8 years starting in fifth or sixth class.
    Many -again depending on school type and choices- also learn a second foreign language -usually either French or Latin (5-7 years) and if they want even a third -usually either Spanish or Italian.
    The effect is not only that we can communicate in foreign languages but that we gain a more elaborate view of our own language, become aware of many things like for example the articles that are more complicated than in other languages. That is why people are okay with you speaking broken German. They know it is complicated to learn and therefore takes time. So as long as you make the impression that you are striving for improvement they are okay with it.

    also in school its obligatory to learn englisch and later some second language, (mostly french or spanisch but also often russian and latin) it really depends on the Bundesland (state...?)
    I lately talked to a riend from NRW about choosing subjects for secundary school and she had like 8 languages she could choose from and took 5 of them (no thats not normal... she is realy great with languages and also her school is language focussed ^^)

    Prices. It would be interesting to compare taxes and prices. I guess, that the taxes lower than in Germany. Please take also in account the average hourly wage.

    • @alexanderkoller
      @alexanderkoller 6 лет назад +2

      GUFSZ The hourly wages are comparable (data.oecd.org/earnwage/average-wages.htm), and the Mehrwehrsteuer is 19% on most products compared to 15% GST, which seems to be the comparable tax in NZ. I think Antoinette‘s theory makes sense - it‘s easier to ship produce from other European countries to Germany than it is from anywhere to New Zealand. I also think that German retailers are extremely good at negotiating prices with producers and wholesalers - to the extent that Walmart left a couple of years after trying to expand into Germany, in part because they were not able to match the established retailers‘ prices (thetimchannel.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/why-walmart-failed-in-germany). This, too, is easier if you are a major retailer in Germany, with lots of stores also in neighboring EU countries, than in a comparatively small market such as NZ - you just represent so much purchasing power that a producer can‘t afford to not be sold in your stores.
