Dear follower's, Good news for Yamaha riders! Worldwide Recall: Yamaha MT-07, XSR700, Tracer 700, and Ténéré 700 Due to clutch issues, tens of thousands of motorcycles are being recalled to dealerships worldwide. The recall affects models equipped with the CP2 engine, which includes the Yamaha MT-07, XSR700, Tracer 700, and Ténéré 700. The impacted models were produced from mid-December 2022 onward. In the Netherlands, Yamaha has not yet announced the recall. Yamaha Identifies Clutch Plates as Cause of Recall According to Yamaha, the issue is linked to the anti-corrosion coating used on the metal plates within the clutch assembly. Since December 2022, these plates have been supplied by a different manufacturer. When this coating mixes with clutch plate wear materials, a sticky residue forms, preventing the clutch plates from moving freely. This can result in the clutch not fully disengaging when the lever is pulled, potentially causing unintended propulsion of the motorcycle. Owners of affected models will be instructed to schedule a service appointment with their dealer. Yamaha has stated that both the metal and friction plates in the clutch will be replaced. This repair will be carried out at no cost to owners.
Sounds like you have a crappy dealer with incompetent mechanics. When I bought my KTM Duke brand new, it took a few months to realise there was a faulty spark plug and ignition coil causing shifting issues. Went to the dealer 3 times only to be told I was shifting "wrong" even though I had it on video. Eventually, after pressing the mechanic, he magically found the issue because I strongly encouraged he looked further than just making simple adjustments. They sold me a brand new bike with faulty issues. I have a 2022 MT-07 now with no issues at all. Rather than selling/trading a brand new bike and taking a loss, you should push further and possibly look at a different dealer to sort your issue out.
Hi, I had the MT07 2024 and I had no clutch issue at all. Yamaha should take your problem under warranty...you may also consider changing dealer? Incompetent mechanic? Ensure they use the right engine oil, the Yamahalube one. I changed to a Ducati 698 mono hypermotard because I wanted something lighter and more "enduro"...that was a mistake as the 698 has no power at low rpm...and when the power come you are instantly off speed limits!...It is an amazing bike but as a daily only vehicule it is unadequate...I thought about Honda Hornet 750...but there was none in stock in Belgium! Then I came back to Yamaha and I have now a black 2024 MT09! Amazing bike this MT09! So get your MT07 fixed under warranty by Yamaha or a better dealer/mechanic...I work at a Yamaha dealer a long time ago....Wish you a fixed clutch! Best, Olivier Mannie, Belgium
SAME problem! Second and up gear shifting is A PAIN! I returned mine and my dealer changed the clutch discs because they were "burned" it was under warranty. But then two days later the shifting occurred AGAIN. Got my money back and the 07 got recalled.
The Japanese tried to imitate the Harley sound on cruiser but didn't quit accomplish it. Now the are trying to do it with naked bikes. It still doesn't work. The 270 crank produces good linear power and sounds ok. But still can't equal that of a Harley. If I wan't a bike that sounds like a Harley I would buy a Harley. I have 2 of them. These bikes have low down torque but not much top end. This is what makes them street-able but boring. That's why I prefer 4 cylinders. You just can't beat the sound and top end of an inline 4. You get them past 10k and they just hit the power band. You scream off like you hit warp drive, witch is exciting. Now these are exciting bikes. That is why I traded in my MT07 for the ZX4RR.
Did you still not get it tuned? Sucks that your just got ride of it, mines coming in the middle of November. Hopefully I dont experience any of these issues.
with the clutch in?!! met de koppelingshendel in? Dat is echt raar! echt zonde. ik heb de 22 versie, die heeft t gelukkig (nog) niet. echt een geweldige motor. iets moet er niet goed zijn.
Also your cable could be incorrectly set: when you pull your clutch lever you separate the clutch plates and so disconnect engine and gear box...you lever should have small play before it does that...the gap between you lever and it support should be small, check you manual for the clearance in millimiters and ensure it is that way....if you clutch lever activate your clutch too late then the clutch plates do not separate enough and you get the exact problem you have now...wrong engine oil can also do that...let me know if that help, OK? Best, Olivier Mannie, Belgium
@@Therealmotocat Awsome! Yamaha is now clutching for you!!! The reviews are top on this Y-AMT! You are going to have the time of your life on this bike! I will watch your channel for the videos on your Y-AMT! Be ready to be amazed: the MT09 is VERY intense...and very smooth too...A double personnality bike! ADVICE: take the "traction control" OFF if you want the FULL sensation of rpm and power and "CP3 music symphony" this bike can give! In this "mode" It is like ANOTHER motorcycle! A beast! Have fun! Best, Olivier Mannie, Belgium
can't recommend the suzuki gsx-8s enough. very smooth ride every time, i'm a beginner and i never stall this thing. downsides i should mention: expensive since it's a new model. also the exhaust sound is underwhelming.
Getting rid of the bike? But I thought you could not get rid of it because its on a finance payment plan? Or did you buy it all in one full payment cash?
4 other clients who have this problem through your dealer? This sounds like a dealership problem not a bike problem brah, I've never even heard of this happening specific to the MT-07. I think their mechanics are just incompetent. If your 09 has similar issues, take it to a different garage and see what they say. It might save you a lot of money! Best of luck.
My wife's 2024 tracer 7 clutch problems disappeared with an oil change. Not with Yamalube but with Motul oil. Just a €50 fix. My own MT07 (2022) had no problems.

odd. Never seen that before. And I've riden a 2024 a few times.
But entirely understandable to get rid of a new bike with a problem like that.
Hi....I am so sorry to see there is a problem with your bike. Hope you will find the other one which will be perfect! I really like all your videos!

Thank you, I already bought a MT-09 Y-AMT. Hope Yamaha will not fail to have the same problem again with 2025 model.
