- Nyíregyháza, the municipal center of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county has been, traditionally, one of the most-important cities in Northern Hungary. Located near to the Slovakian, Ukrainian and Romanian borders, it is considered to be a Gateway to Western Europe, especially in terms of rail transportation.
