This day isn’t about him, but he took over a broken program at that time-- 3 coaches in 3 years, NCAA Probation, Scholarship limitations, Roster Attrition -- that numerous elite coaches turned down because it was a graveyard. That said, Shula had neither the pedigree nor program-building knowledge to take Bama to the level that Saban did.
As a Michigan fan, I can attest that Saban was a class act along with the players and fans. Salute to the goat.
