Give me a weekend with that car and I'd have it shining like a new penny!, my father had a 68 Javelin and I remember as a four year old at the dealer the posters with the AMX on them, the body and undercarriage look very solid and what your asking is not out of line, I just wish I had found it before you did!

Nice car. Sorry I missed this one. My brother had a super clean 68 in white with a red interior. We both miss that car. He also had the 390, and that engine will make that car get up and go. I'm hoping to find a green one with the X package.

the quarter is to block out the brake warning light..under the hood on the left side of the firewall, you will find the brake proportioning valve. two brake lines coming in and two going out. In the center of the block is a wire. This is plugged into the brake warning switch. Most likely while bleeding the brakes, the internal shuttle valve has moved to one side. You can center this valve by unscrewing the switch, no brake fluid will come out, then feeling with a small pick, the v-notch on the valve under that the switch, it moves left or right, depending on whether it is the front or rear bakes that have lost pressure/fluid. Center the valve, reinstall the switch so the button rides in the V groove and the light will turn off. And you will make a quarter. Your welcome

I forgot to mention there is a tool to use when bleeding the brakes on AMC's jeeps etc., that keeps the valve from moving when bleeding. Amazon maybe 4 bucks. My 69 AMX Go Package, had the same problem, lucky for me I knew what it was already having learned it in the 70's working on my dad's jeep and others.

@@bobevansclassics I hear you. We all get the occasional AMX listed through google browser. 4 speeds pop up for 'buy now' prices here and there.
That steering column utilizes an electronic city horn function. Make sure it works.
      What's your message here?
Selling a legal car is a joke?
      Your suggested remedy?
      Push button horn?
      Bicycle horn?
      AOOOGAH?
Let's do hand signals while we're at it.
      Blaming it on NADA?

@@bobevansclassics Ok so somebody "liked" my comment. But to be realistic, Bob chose to simply "flip" this AMX in order to put it right away/immediately into the possession of a caring purchaser.
The banter regarding the "horn" should be a clue. Bob, myself, and all classic enthusiasts will understand that a working horn will be a double edged sword because it will require a deep dive into the column to identify the original condition and ability of the stock horn to function *reliably.
This will add significant costs to the vehicle purchase price. My remark about a "push button" horn etc is simply to turn it over in a legal state and most importantly, a legal & trustworthy remedy.
And rightly so, because a functioning stock horn could most likely be hiding a very expensive upgrade in the near future.
Imagine if you will, buying an old classic with a working column horn. Now you're driving it but all of a sudden the horn begins blasting away at a most unfortunate time! (use your imagination here...)
Long story short, pay to restore the column horn, or otherwise include a secondary horn. But professionally installed. They will do this for you.
Bob is too busy to address these seemingly abusive comments but rest assured that his vehicles are among the finest available, as I watch them closely, and each one is an incredible example of Americana.
Me? Every time I see one, I'm busted! But don't give up folks!
      Cheers!
