Some of these whistles sent chills down my spine! We are going to Cass in a couple of weeks and I'm super excited about it! I can't wait to be next to these powerful whistles!
My two boys (10 & 6) are going to the Cass for the first time next week - They both are ADDICTED to trains and have no idea how fantastic this trip is going to be! Thank you for sharing the beautiful sounds of the Cass (Ghost Whistle is my personal favorite!)
Look up the Hiesler doing railfan last year.. At big cut she sounds just like the two whistles starting at 1:13.. Plus the SP six chime is my favorite whistle =) Btw thanks 4 this video!
@CassFan5150 I'm not so sure it is, if you listen it has one note distinctly higher than any other SP 6 I've heard, which gives it a certain sharp sound. Maybe it's a C&O 6? I know they're rare, and I've never heard one on a locomotive.
Shay #7 is still at Cass. However the locomotive has not ran since 1970. It has been sitting on the "deadline" track for over 40 years with an uncertain future today. It is repairable but would take a hefty amount of money and man hours to restore.

Back in 2007 or 2008 I went to Cass and loved it some day I want to go back. Did you get there? I loved the whistle echoing through the valley.
The one at 1:13 is actually an original C&O 6 Chime that was never cut down, like the one on Big 6 now...
I was right
1:13
2:00 its a Crosby 3 chime
1-C&O Single-Chime Hooter.
2-Reading 6 Chime
3-GTW 6 chime
4-L&N 3 Chime
Reading 6 chime is so beautiful

1:31 6 chime whistle voice crack lol
@02:01 that Crosby 3 chime steam whistle is my favorite! I love it!
2:02 this is the crosby tritone chime and used for the new haven train in trs2004
Correct. The real life I-5s wore Hancock 3 chimes but I think that a Crosby fits those engines very well also.
the freak haven's freaky i-5s that pull passenger trains up and down the freaky shore line
#2’s whistle is haunting when echoing through the valley even in video it’s spooky
Manns Creek 3 chime
At 1;13 that is a SP 6 chime. One similar was used on the hiseler
1:11 1:36 Dick & Dan's Whistle & Bells Dixon & Friends
1:12 I think that’s a SP 6 chime
Probably from a Cab Foward
Cass is a magical place. It is like entering a time machine! So cool....
The Reading 6 chime is the loudest whistle of the bunch. It belongs on the Big 6.
1:12 It’s a ATSF 6 chime whistle with some cracks
It sounds more like a NdeM 6 Chime whistle
I heard that it’s actually a homemade SP 6 chime. It probably follows dimensions similar to that of a cab forward whistle.
@@ScarpawMuttthe cab forwards never had whistles they had air horns
at 1:41 it sounds like the southern pacific whistle for the cab forward in train simulator 2016 if you've played it
it is
@@trainfan1206 I thought so
1:14 Sounds likes a Cheasapeak & Ohio 6 Chime
Nobody:
RDG 6 chime: *dude, its glowing.*
Nothing like a Reading 6 chime!
@00:02:01 that train whistle is my favorite!! I love it!!
It was used in Trainz
0:05 sounds like reading 2102s hooter
0:05 TRS2004 PRR 4-4-0’s C&O Single Hooter 0:51 John(RBMN 425)’s C&O/Reading 6 Chime 2:00 New Haven I-5 Trainz Driver 2 Whistle
3 chime and 6 chime are my favorite!
The fourth one is train wrecks whistle from Tidmouthworks.
That first whistle sounds like a reading hooter whistle
You can be right in a way,
That is great!!
More please!!!
Maybe some of heavily loaded engines puffing hard?
The third is home built 6 chime
It sounds like a NdeM 6 Chime whistle
@CassFan5150 Yeah it is, that one high note gives it a certain edge that I love. Does anyone know what classes of C&O power used this whistle?
Look up the Hiesler doing railfan last year.. At big cut she sounds just like the two whistles starting at 1:13.. Plus the SP six chime is my favorite whistle =) Btw thanks 4 this video!
That whistle at 1:32 is a Nathan 6 chime.
And the one at 2:00 I believe is a Crosby 3 chime.
GHOSTCOP5 The Crosby one has been used in Trainz Sim a lot.
1:32
2:01
I wonder what whistle will be given to climax#9
Geared Productions probably the C&O single hooter. That might fit it best
I think a lunkenheimer 3 chime because Cass uses them on most of their engines
I would prefer a Lunkenhiemer 3 Chime, like the one on Ex. White Pass & Yukon Scenic Railroad #190
Isnt the one at 1:13 the SP 6 chime? It sounds like the one used on hieseler six at last years railfan...
@02:01 I believe that whistle is the B&O Crosby 3 chime steam whistle
B&O Crosby 3 chime steam whistle
thanks for posting
2:00 is cool
@ThatYankeeKid I realize now its a C&O 6. Damn beautiful whistle
Cass switches the whistles often so there will probably be no whistle on there permanently.
The first whistle sounds more like a freight whistle off of Reading T1 2102
1:10 this whistle is probably close to NdeM 1356
Or any 2-8-0 of Standard or Narrow gauge
@CassFan5150 I'm not so sure it is, if you listen it has one note distinctly higher than any other SP 6 I've heard, which gives it a certain sharp sound. Maybe it's a C&O 6? I know they're rare, and I've never heard one on a locomotive.
I think a good sounding 3 chime would fit it or a hooter.
It is An SP At 1:13. Just listen to other SP's on RUclips
That is actually a banshee in the first one.
Exactly... Sorry... 2006 at big cut... But it is an SP 6 chime just from far away!
They try to restore the strip of rail from Cass to durbin
Does shay 7 locomotive still exist at cass scenic railroad?
Shay #7 is still at Cass. However the locomotive has not ran since 1970. It has been sitting on the "deadline" track for over 40 years with an uncertain future today. It is repairable but would take a hefty amount of money and man hours to restore.
2:01 Trainz 2004 anyone?
Yes
all of the whistle in the video is in trainz
@FatSeal45 I believe it is a C&O...
