No more words needed. She is perfect in every aspect. Vive Françoise Hardy! Vice ce temps-là...

Despite the fact that she( Francoise) does not like this version of the song i adore this song.It is this fast transition that breaks ''uniform''arranging this song makes me unique compared to other performers.Francoise i cant imagine autumn without you! and your song.

The different versions with Yves Montand is at a level of his own, unsurpassed.
Also Aznavour is splendid, but Hardy is beautiful and fragile in her version and the percussion addition is not an ideal solution but nevertheless gives the song somewhat a new touch.

Mon Dieu!

Correction. 1970 was presented a new sound that is a combination of this song and that presented by a composer white that had painted herself brown to represent the Netherlands. She composed a few more songs for the group...never to be heard of again...well...by the band.

Also, I forgot -- an acoustic bass that at times is fingered, jazz style, then at other times is bowed for a deeper, somberer effect.

Yes, the accompanying music is not the best; however, the general intent I think points the way: it should be a gentler samba, with maracas, guiro, congas and light brushwork on the drums, along with an acoustic guitar in the Brazilian style -- and, most of all, a deep clarinet interspersing rueful riffs here and there, and doing the solo instead of that cheesy cabaret piano.
Also, as lovely as her voice is, this song also could be done justice by Henri Salvador.

My take is that it "should be" a high theremin taking care of the "interspersing rueful riffs" over hardcore techno ;)

As beautiful as her voice is here, it figures that she hates this version. She's right; the bongos and lounge-y arrangement were cheezy and dated--just like the silly clothes of the couturiers she eventually eluded. Francoise always understood--and chose--style over fashion.
