If you have a Dremel tool you can just buy a $5 round 1/16" tip for engraving and just drill an elongated hole through the strap. I figured this out because I wanted to add spring bars to my stingray straps. I have a feeling this punch won't go through the calcium beads on the stingray leather. I ended up adding spring bars to all of my watches this way. I just stuck a toothpick through the strap to give it rigidity and so I wouldn't accidently go all the way through.

Thank you for sharing this, very good to know how this is done. I thought you were supposed to punch using an oblong punch before you fold, but no. This seems much more effective.

Hi, What diameter hole can the spike fit into? It looks too big to fit into a 1.5mm hole.
I've been trying to get an answer for this everywhere without any success so it would be brilliant to know before spending the coin on this. Thanks

Swiss-made products are one of the best. expensive, because min salary is 28$/hour, for a technician it will be 60-70$ per hour, why most people do not see many swiss products, but high-end people use them.

great tool that i use every day but if you don't tighten the bottom screw into the strap, you risk breaking the center pin

Wrong. If you like to do strap changes on high end watches, this tool is worth every penny. One slip with a spring bar tool can wreak havoc on the lugs or case. Especially if you're dealing with PVD or DLC coatings.
