Released in 1975, "Sholay" is a timeless classic directed by Ramesh Sippy. Set in the rugged terrain of rural India, the film follows the story of two ex-cons, Veeru (Dharmendra) and Jai (Amitabh Bachchan), who are hired by a retired police officer, Thakur (Sanjeev Kumar), to capture the ruthless dacoit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan). Filled with action, drama, romance, and unforgettable dialogues, "Sholay" has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema and continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

Basanti(Hema malini) and veeru(Dharmendra) are actual husband wife...they married each other after some year, and actor who played role of Thakur(Sanjeev kumar) he never married bcs he also loved Basanti(Hema malini) in real life and proposed her but she committed with dharmender and after hear that he never married bcs his love was true, and yes the Jai(Amithabh bacchan) and the daughter in law of thakur(jaya bhaduri) they also actual husband wife, that means in this movie both hero played role with their actual wives❤❤❤❤
Wow, I never knew this backstory about Sanjeev Kumar! Thanks for sharing!
You forgot to mention Dharmendra was already married with 4 kids. So legally him and Hema are not married. They shacked up together although they had a “ceremony”.
@@ninagill1407 Dharmendra used fault of Indian law before married with Hema he accepted Islam so he can do marriage with Hema bcs in Islam anyone legally can do 4 marriage....so the are legally husband wife
Sanjeev Kumar wanted to marry Jaya, not Hema😊
@@abhinavpatel7334 no he didn’t. He used to tie rakhi on Jaya.
Did you know there was alternative ending wherein Gabbar is not killed and taken away by police. Indian audiences saw that in theatre
Sanjeev kumar was favourite actor of my father. Whenever i watch sanjeev kumar sir on screen, i remember my father's affection and fanboying towards him😊
That is how I feel whenever I watch Paresh Rawal. My Dada loved Paresh and would always do impressions of him. 😄
@@ChaatNChat same pinch sir ✌🏻❤️😊
@@bankai786 👍
@@ChaatNChat we indians aslo die heart fan of paresh rawal dude❤
He is soooo good and funny!
Great to see reaction on this legendary movie. In terms of footfalls, this is still the biggest hit of all Indian movies with 180 million tickets sold, the second one stands on 120 million tickets, there are 2 more with 100 million tickets. rest all are less than 75 million tickets. Now a days top blockbuster movies in India sell on an average 25 - 40 million movie tickets and that too when we have so many movie theatres and the population is also more than doubled since 1975. One can imagine the kind of phenomenon this movie became. Biggest blockbuster of all times.
It was such an amazing movie. We had to prioritize watching a movie as giant as this one! Dharmendra remains one of my favorite actors of all time. Thanks for stopping by and hope you follow us for more!
I remember how it originally ended, police came and said Have you lost faith in the system Thakur Sahab, we still talk about ur integrity towards law etc. and then Thakur leaves Gabbar and hand him over to police, that ending was better
The legendary movie of indian cinema ❤No one can even come close to this movie
I agree.
This is an indianised Western spaghetti . You can see the writers took some leafs off butch Cassidy and Sundance kind and The good the bad and the ugly.
I feel Amjad Khan got the role of Gabbar singh mainly because javed Salim wanted their villian to look like Engel eyes from The good the bad and the ugly. Jai's role is taylored on Blondie - stoic , always ahead of the game. Veeru is taylored around Tuco. If one watches these two movies back to back the obvious inspirations are quite obvious.
And about the movie ending , during Indira Gandhi's license raj , media and entertainment was heavily censored and they didn't like that the movie showed vigilante justice as a moral ending. So they had it changed within few days of the release and let police handle the matter of Gabbar singh.
Great insight and info! Thank you for sharing this bit of trivia. ❤️
Dude, how do you know so much about India?? Your experience seems very organic... What's your story and connection with India ??
My family moved to India when I was younger and I became very close with an Indian family while living there. They adopted me into their family and while going to school I lived with them. I am very close with my Dadaji and he doesn't speak English so he taught me how to speak Hindi. We watched all of these classics together so they always bring back good memories. I visit India regularly (normally once per year). Thank you for watching and I hope you will subscribe if you haven't already :)
@@ChaatNChat wow, you must create one story like video as "who you are", your experience, and some vlogs while you are in India...
I have been thinking about doing this. A few people have asked for something similar. I just don't know how many people would find it interesting
The regular movie has Gabbars death scene changed to him being arrested by the cops😃
Thanks for the info! Which ending do you prefer? If you haven't already please consider subscribing and sharing ☺️🙏🏼
@@ChaatNChatdefo not the kicking lmao. That was funny. Watched it first time too. PM if the time Indira Gandhi made ending changed so that, PPL wouldn't get more ideas of taking laws in their hands.
@@Mayavi_Kanyabecause at that time emergency was imposed on the people of india and this and in fear they thought it could ignite anger in people.
5:55 This scene is now cut in the modern prints of the film.
Deewaar is about 2 brothers who go through hardship and take 2 different paths in life...its a must watch 🙏🙏
My childhood Great Cinema 😂❤🎉
..India ..
Thank you for watching :)
50 years gone, all actors are even today known by their movie names. Gabbar, Jai, Veeru, jailor, kalia, sambha, thakur and Basanti. Even after Two generations, their names are still alive. Land mark movie of Indian cinema.
Jay dath scene is very emotional scene in this movie I'm always crying 😭
Where is director's cut available ??
Fact is sanjiv kumar was paid more than both leads
I guess he was bigger at the time? Amitabh and Dhatmendra's career exploded after this right?
Yes
@@ChaatNChat ye he was bigger star.
This movie "Sholay" was written by Salman Khan's father Salim Khan who is a legendary script writer of indian cinema 💯
Wow, that is crazy. I did not know the connection. Thank you for pointing that out!
@@ChaatNChat Slight correction....Salim Khan is one half of the legendary Bollywood scriptwriting duo of the 70s, popularly known as Salim-Javed, Javed Akhtar being the other half. They're responsible for creating the angry young man persona brilliantly portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan that in a span of a few years transformed him into a cultural icon.
I've always been a fan of Amitabh Bachchan! ☺️
Also Salim Khan later married Helen (Cabaret dancer in "Mehbooba" song).this was his second marriage.
@@ChaatNChatand Javed Akhtar is a great poet and scriptwriter... he's married to Shabana Azmi(wonderful actress)and their children Farhan akhtar and Zoya akhtar are amazing too.. Farhan is a great actor, writer, director, singer(Dil chahta hai is directed by him... acted in awesome movies like znmd, dil dhadakne do,luch by chance, Karthik calling Karthik, rock on),...and Zoya imo is one of the finest directors of the country (made movies like znmd, rang de Basanti,Dil dhadakne do, luck by chance, talaash, lakshya)
This is 49 year old movie Bros 😮😅😊
Still holds up. I love it
Are tuk tuk zimbu tu ihan bhi 🤣
Amazing movie !!
Even today.
Thanks guys for reacting to this movie there was two endings to this one where Gabar dies in this one the other was where police comes in and arrest Gabar and take him away. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thanks for watching!! Which ending do you prefer?
@@ChaatNChatDirector's cut was more satisfying tbh.
I felt the same! I wonder if for the time it was too violent? I wonder what would have happened to the success of this movie if this version was released instead of the first?
@@ChaatNChat It was not because of violent but it was for the image of police . The movie did golden Jubilee and I don't think either ending could have affected the success.
Ohhh I see. Thanks for the info. That's cool to know.
Great reaction. New subscriber

@@ChaatNChat 👍
When this movie released, it was deemed too violent for the audience. So if the end feels rushed, it is because many scenes were cut off...
Fellas this was a great movie and watch along and good to see you fellas going to see a classic and liking it for what it was and the groundbreaking path it took back in the day
I'd suggest watching perhaps - Jo Jeeta Woh Sikander - Usually a crowd favorite and inspired from Breaking away but That would be an excited movie to react to especially not many channels out there have done that one
I am noticing a lot of reaction channels skip over a lot of the classics and jump right into modern films. Aaron has next to no experience with Indian cinema so I wanted to show him some classics before we got into more modern things. I used to watch all of these old films with my grandpa (Aa Gale Lag Ja, Chupke Chupke, Blackmail, Mother India, etc.) I don't know if people can truly appreciate before they see what films could be without all of the cgi more modern films have. Thank you for your comment and watching along. Hopefully you continue to follow us as we release more videos weekly.
@@ChaatNChat Tell me about it man , I grew up watching 90s movies as a 80s kid and that brings a certain charm and nostalgia . Even though the movie industry has improved leaps and bounds , the essence of Indian cinema of those times cannot be missed.
Yeah you've seen more classics than even I have tbh then haha. I'v seen more 80s and 90s , some classics for sure as well
Yeah I stumbled upon your channel and appreciate the respectful and mature review you fellas give - Not everyone's cup of tea .
Really consider Jo Jeeta Woh Sikander though - I'm sure he'll love that one ! A childhood classic for a lot of 90s kids
That really means a lot, thank you! 🙏🏼
Pls watch Dharmendra's son Sunny deol movie like damini and ghatak pls . And for akshay kumar do watch "khiladi" and "sainik"
Our list is growing really quickly but Damini is definitely on it :D (I'm a fan of the entire Deol family!) We have new episodes throughout the week so make sure you subscribe get get notified for new ones!
please watch the akshay Kumar and govinda movie bhagam bhag it is really funny and has a bunch of legendary actors you guys will really enjoy it
Thanks for the suggestion! Added it to the list! Because filming and editing takes some time it will take time to get to everyone's suggestion but please subscribe and follow and we will get to yours! :)
It was really a challenge for AB to play the co-actor roll. He was already a star at that time. He had only one single screen monologue with mosi, but his performance made him unforgettable.
Bros you guys watch one of the best movies from Bollywood..... please watch deewaar definitely take you down the rollercoaster of emotions.
I've seen this movie when I was 7/8 year old, on Doordarshan channel sunday show
This ending was original directors cut and alternate ending was released in theaters.
A good review. Your understanding was good.
In original cut gabber remains alive cops came in btw fight
Thanks for the reminder! Which ending did you prefer?
@@ChaatNChatI prefer the Director's cut.
It is a fitting end for Gabber. I think I might prefer this cut too
19:15 = That's Not The Final Published Scene They Cut That Scene Because Of Political Emergency In INDIA
Government Gives Strict Guidelines Don't Create Brutal Scene In Movie That's Why The Original Real One Scene Is Gabbar Not Dead / He Was Arrested ...
Sholay is my favorite movie from childhood❤ and i am happy to know that it's also you're childhood memory❤
Yhe puri full movie cut nahi hy kha de kh ne ko milega
This Sholay film was a Diamond Jubilee superhit in 75.
And that time was the golden time of Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan's 3 films were released in 75, Sholay, Deewaar, Don. The first number was Sholay, 2 Deewar and 3 Don.
Sholay was run in film theaters for 4 or 5 years
This movie has some impressive history. It's why it was a must to watch it. I love it and I love the actors in it.
Main hero dharmender heroine hema malini ❤
I absolutely adore Dharmendra. Ever since I saw him in Blackmail with that song "pal pal dill ke paas" That song to this day is my all time fav song and I listen to it frequently!
The actual ending in theatres is that Gabbar gets arrested by police and gets capital punishment
Reacts to "kal ho na ho" please
I can bet you cannot hold your tears 😢❤
Shootout at wadala movie reaction master piece movie in Bollywood

We are filming that this weekend! (Ek Tha Tiger is publishing this week but it's a good one!)
If you want a psychotic villian, watch Mr. India.
Definitely want to check that one out!
Wtf i never noticed or watched that spike scene ....i remember in alternative ending thakur kills gabbar but censor board at that time said its too dark and encourages vigilant behaviour
This is the director's cut that we found. I've never seen it either so I had no idea what to expect. I knew it had a different ending but I had no idea it would go that far!!!! There is a lot more content planned so if you haven't already please consider subscribing and sharing :)
Nice
Thanks for viewing :) We have more videos coming throughout the week so be sure to subscribe
Gabbar was already tired after getting beat up by viru, so he could not face thakur

It's very good movie with multiple veteran legendary actors. I would recommend it too. Hopefully you'll consider this suggestion
I wish I could do this full time and release new movies every day but I am the only one editing and it takes time to put together a nice looking video. I am trying to go as fast as I can to keep people engaged but until this channel gets much bigger I have to do everything myself. Thanks for being patient.
