i was on the fence between those 2 colors as well. a base red showed up at a dealership about an hour away and i was sold as soon as i saw it lol. been loving it so far
Nice to see that Toyo still making fun sporty cars. Getting tired of manufacturers pumping out EV’s (that are over my price range) and boring SUV’s (that are just this generations station wagon of the 70’s).
Good review and agree with most of your points - especially the annoying indicator 'action'. Slightly disagree about the gearstick though. I found it to be really nice, precise and intuitive and easy to do slick changes.
@@sammooresphoto I wouldn’t defend it as if it was a benefit, but the US auto journalists have lost their minds about it and I’ve been an early adopter (owned a 2013 and a 2017 prior to my 2022), and it baffles me how many people nit pick this amazingly fun machine that delivers huge value for the money. Even the torque dip in the gen 1 was not worth passing on this car…but now that that’s solved, it might be my favorite car that I’ve owned (besting my 981 boxster s, my 1998 integra GSR, 1997 M3 and 1989 civic si) You very much seem to get it. Thanks for the good review!
@@stms4411 yeah I like to say things as I find them in these videos (as I'm often experiencing them for the first time) before coming to an overall conclusion at the end. It's hard to knock anything on this car at the pricepoint for what it delivers.
The manual transmission GR86/BRZ is noticeably faster than the automatic versions. I know that might sound weird to people, but its due to the manual versions having short, aggressive gear ratios, while the automatics have long-ass gears tailored to getting better fuel economy.
There is no turbo car that can match it for the fun factor. The n/a motor is the way cars should be. This is why the mclaren f1 is considered the best car in the world to drive. Turbocharging ruins the driving experience regardless of how fast they are
From Australia very tempted to put an order but I’m so unsure about this RTV issue. Plan is to daily. Once a week on the weekend take it to the twisty roads for some fun. If someone with more knowledge surrounding this issue could reply and provide there thoughts it would be greatly appreciated. Should I be worried are my concerns valid ? Car will not be tracked as well. All opinions welcome as this is the only issue holding me back. Much appreciated in advance. Great video though very natural
Why wouldn't it be fine? I've had mine for a few months now and its fucking awesome to drive. I don't track it but I do mountain roads and it eats it up. The more I drive it the less I think about it. And if anything unfortunate did happen its all under warranty, the way I see that issue. Dont let 1 track pron issue from a few people discourage you. I've had a fast sti, r32 gtr, fc rx7 and dsm's. The 86 is by far the best car I've owned.
@@subiesnacks8446 Sorry I didn't get a notification that you replied! Just came back to watch the video again. Amazing mae nice to hear! I got told engine failure wasen't covered but maybe I was mislead. Amazing to hear mate! So excited to get one honestly! Apparently here in australia we get the cars from japan whereas us get them from Canada which is what i told by dealers thanks mate! Will put order shortly
Picked up my new GTS GR 86 just recently for a little over $50k. One big let down was no satellite navigation. Apple car play is great but listen Toyota engineers…..phone maps don’t work when out of mobile range which is very frequent where I drive. I had sat nav in my previous 2017 86 so very disappointed that this one very handy feature was left off the list in the upgrade. Also no spare wheel.
great vid, and btw your hoodie looks so comfy,
It is!
Got a base red GR86 on the way here but Neptune Blue was my primary choice, heavily considering the red now
Awesome, enjoy!

@@SavaJeZz How’s the insurance on the red?
@JMHall1117 I'm under a group plan with my family but I'm around $120/month for insurance

Yeah it’s great to see them making fun cars at a low price point
theyre great as long as you dont make right turns
To make any right turns you first need to be able to actually buy one.
you personally can make right turns, its the people who are actually fast on a track that can't
Put there 0,5 quart more oil and you will never have problem on normal road

I found it got better the more I used it 👍🏻
Test drove a BRZ, after about 5 minutes worked out the indicators, after 20 minutes placed an order and paid a deposit!
The (noise actor) speaker can (and should) be unplugged. The indicators are something you get used to in a very short time.
I can see how you get used to them it’s just possible to indicate the other direction when you are trying to cancel a signal. I don’t see the benefit.

The automatic was waaay too slow for me. And I didn’t even expect it to be fast. Still want to try the manual but haven’t had a chance to drive one.

Can you please do a update review of the 997.2 gt3 rs? With some proper driving?
Nice review looking fwd to getting mine.

It has like a 10 year warranty. Why would you be concerned if the engine went anyway?

So the GR98/BRZ is small but compared to the Miata the latter is tiny. In case of a an accident with a truck I would rather not be in the Miata.
This is very true. Bottom of the list would be a Caterham
Sam, Please work on camera settings next time. Car is orange on your video while it’s red in photos. Something is clearly wrong.
Yeah it’s tricky, red is an awful colour to film or photograph. I will make an effort to correct the car colour in post next time 👍🏻.
UK roads are terrifying... they look absurdly narrow
Haha, these are particularly narrow
Altho still 2 lanes, we do have single tracks
that was a wide one;
I don’t know I’ve never had a GR 86 or an engine blow on me
Until the GASKET OIL ISSUE IS RESOLVED…..PASS ….
