    Thank you. You made that look so easy. With your instruction, I did it. Albeit, not in 10 min. My DC supply now works and the plug's end cap hides my first solder connections. Thank you.

      Thank you so much someone stole the charger for my old mobility scooter and it's no longer available but I found a charger I think I can use but I need one with neg center and i only found one with positive center . So I'll do what you did and switch wires thanks

    He's right. While it's true that the wire with the white stripe or ribbing is always supposed to be positive and the black or smooth wire negative its not always the case so check you polarity first.

    You should have Teflon taped the individual soldered points. But all good.

    Can I just connect it somewhere in the middle? I cut the wires and I just connect and solder wires in the middle of cable? I don't have the original plug, but some other plug.

    • @woodys_hobbies
      @woodys_hobbies  Год назад +1

      You can interchange the 2 wires. Please take note that you must know the polarity of your device. There are two polarity center hole of the plug is positive or center hole of the plug is negative. Please be careful.

    • @nebojsa1976
      @nebojsa1976 Год назад +1

      @@woodys_hobbies Well, yes, like most of them, center pin (I have pin) is positive and barrel around is negative. And I just figure out which one is positive and which one negative that goes to the brick charger and I just solder it somewhere in the middle and tape it with electrical tape good. It appears easier.

      @@nebojsa1976 You can check by using multi tester. Set to Voltmeter.

    Could you tell me the brand and model of your AC-DC 12V adapter?

    • @woodys_hobbies
      @woodys_hobbies  Год назад +1

      The AC/DC adapter is also my DIY I'm using 12-0-12 stepdown transformer 220 volts. The enclosure box is new you can buy this in online store or electronic store.

    • @woodys_hobbies
      @woodys_hobbies  Год назад +1

      If you need an AC/DC adapter you can just simply check your device voltage, current and polarity requirements.

      5amps If you like 10amps try to use a bigger wire.

    How many amps does the DC5525 jack handle?
    I've been told up to 20!

    • @woodys_hobbies
      @woodys_hobbies  2 года назад +1

      Yes that is the max. load but I will not go to 20amps maybe 15 to 18amps to be safe. And there are many fake dc5525 plugs and jack beware of that it has a low quality especially the metal connections sometimes its very thin and it cannot handle higher current.

      Check the size of the wire if the stands are almost the same then its fine.

    My dash cam mini usb wire has only two colours. Black and white.
    When I spliced Black with Black and White with Red to another data USB cable to get a power extension, it only gives a flickering screen. (Did not test it for volt. USB data has green, red, grey and white)
    What is the case when power USB wire has only Black and White wire as explained above? Thanks in advance.

    • @woodys_hobbies
      @woodys_hobbies  2 года назад +1

      You must be careful some USB has different wiring color. You must test first the connection on each wires. You said it is for power extension then do not use the data connections to be safe. USB power connections are on the sides. Facing the usb plug in front the white plastic is below the right pin is your B+ your ground/negative pin is left side. To be sure you can google usb connection. About flickering check your power supply voltage and the supply current. Check your polarity.

      This is DC Plug. There are many types of DC Plug especially the diameter of the plug "inner" and "outer" diameter. You can buy this kind of plug in electronic stores or hardware stores or online stores.

    Darker color is negative as a rule.

    • @woodys_hobbies
      @woodys_hobbies  Год назад +2

      The one with a stripe always negative but there some adapters it has a marking stripe but if you look closely the stripe it has a small + sign and that's positive. I will not say as a rule but mostly I encounter the one with a stripe is negative. For safety just check the output voltage the test probe leads will answer or check wire it will always connect to an electrolytic cap. Electrolytic cap has polarity you can double check which wire connected to positive or negative.
