  • This may cause quite the conversation I'm okay with that, this subject is sensitive & can cause people to be upset at me or even hate me, I'm also okay with it. I have a message to share and I'm tired of the hate, I'm also here to HELP any of you salon owners,booth renters understand that you deserve more! You don't have a retirement if your behind the chair, you don't have vacation, sick days, you know how it is. I have been working with Monat global for 3.5 years, I am treated with respect and love from this company, I have also been offered big brand deals and contracts with big company's to be a brand ambassadors. I still choose Monat! I understand that sometimes professional lines could be purchased by 3rd party company's such as Marshall's, Tj Max, Ross, even Walmart, but what's not okay is that Us hairstylist make money on our products, retail is a big part of our paychecks, this is how we pay our bills.
    We did go to school to be licensed to give our professional advice to our clients and be sure we are giving them the best hair care. But what's wrong here is that our clients can now go to any grocery store or department store and buy our "professional" products! Who knows what's in them, or how expired they are. The consumer has no idea what they are about to purchase. I also understand there is diversion and it's been happening for years, BUT this is a WAKE UP CALL, this Is WHY I work with MONAT GLOBAL as a market partner, you will never see our high quality premium anti age hair care products on shelves like this. Now don't get me wrong you may see it on amazon, SAME THING, anyone can sell anything on amazon, I could dump out all my monat shampoo and add herbal essence in it and sell the crap on amazon!!! I wouldn't trust it you guys! EDUCATE YOURSELVES! If you are someone who wants to be treated equal, earn money the way you deserve and have an opportunity to not only have the best hair products but get paid to wash people's hair with products you can't find on the shelf, then please share this video and message the person who sent this to you!
    Email me at mandieevans2@gmail.com! Best way of communication is DM me on my Instagram @mandiesuestylez

    I agree with you Mandie in saying that some products being sold at stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Burlington can't be trusted and should not be used. However, YOU are licensed and so you are educated on who should and shouldnt use what products from Monat. But Suzanne down the street from you isn't licensed and has never touched a head of hair in her life and just sold Barbara who gets chemical services every month and clarifying shampoo not safe for color treated hair. I don't agree with pushing Monat so much. Monat wants you to sell shampoo, and you to sign people up to shampoo, and those people to sign others up to sell shampoo, their shampoo, so they get the money. Monat doesn't care about your clients hair, or Suzannes hair, who Barbara just compromised by holding a Monat party in her kitchen washing hair in her kitchen sink. Thats great that you love Monat, and you are educated on which shampoo to use on what hair. But Monat is just like those other pyramid scheme brands. And if you like to use it in your salon on your clients, GREAT! You are educated. But all of these other professional products like Joico and Redken and Bed head are still professional, when purchased from the correct places. Dont make videos like this.

      So after reading all these comments I feel I need to reply to this one. As a disclaimer I will say that I love and promote Monat. If that disqualifies me in your eyes, so be it. But I am also a professional hairstylist with 18 years of experience behind the chair. This should count for something. I currently work full time as a stylist renting my chair. After reading your comment I have thought long and hard about the content of your argument. I believe there is some misguided logic happening. If I am correct, you are saying that because anyone can become a market partner with Monat it means that "non-professional" people can suggest said product and that this is somehow inherently wrong. But let's think about this for a minute. Until Monat, I did not market anything behind the chair because my clients could just go buy from Ulta or Sephorra or any big box store. I could not compete. Now, I know for a fact that the girl working the counter at Ultra was NOT a stylist. Yet in her position as a sales person she could recommend whatever she wanted regardless of what I told my client to purchase. She was given her own education about the products her store carries. So if I told my client she needed xyz product but she chose to listen to the sales girl about yxz product that was her choice. Often this recommendation came because of the sales girl's own experience. As a stylist I cannot tell a client that I will only do her hair if she purchases the after care I suggest, from me. I can only suggest what I believe to be the best. She is free to buy whatever. So if Ulta and Sephorra can suggest whatever, what is the difference if one of my Market Partners suggests a shampoo? If said market partner is seeking to educate themselves, just as the sales girl at Ulta is, then he or she is no less qualified to suggest a shampoo than the Ulta girl. We as stylists need to understand that we are not the only ones who can educate ourselves about products. If I took a job tomorrow at a beauty supply house I would begin learning about the products I was marketing. I would then sell to stylists. The only difference with Monat is that rather than working for someone else I do it as an entrepreneur. And as a stylist I can teach others to do the same. Actually creating an army of knowledgeable hair specialists. Our Market Partner academy teaches product knowledge just like any other company. It is arrogant and unkind to suggest as you did that "Suzanne down the street" isn't smart enough to market hair products. It's just ridiculous! None of the girls at the beauty supply house I buy color from are stylists. Yet I don't treat them with the contempt you treat your imaginary "Suzanne" with. Instead I understand that product knowledge can be learned by anyone. Also, as far as earning potential goes, in our company we make 30%-40% from retail sales. This could be even more with flash sales. So even if I chose to never recruit a single Market Partner to my team and all I wanted to do was just retail I could still make as much, if not more, than any other retail line out there, and I wouldn't have to keep an inventory! So again you are incorrect in your assumptions. To say that Monat doesn't care about your client's hair is laughable. Our scientists, dermatologists and chemists are working tirelessly to make high quality products. In fact we were able to launch in the U.K. without changing a thing. To put this in perspective, the US only bans about 30 ingredients from personal care products. The U.K. bans around 1400. Most American companies have to reformulate to launch there. But not us. So many people I see speaking against this line have never even tried it or sought to learn a thing about it. They simply regurgitate what they have heard. So I ask you. Have you ever even tried it? Or taken the time to educate yourself about it? Many of the "professional" lines you speak of have long ago sold out to larger conglomerates and they have sold us stylists down the river. Yet we don't question the professionalism of those who choose to use them. However, many stylists do just that to any of us who use Monat. Our professionalism is questioned. It is unwarranted, inappropriate and uneducated. We can like a shampoo line that is different than yours without being ridiculed as non-professional. It's just wrong. This is just my humble opinion.

      Nathan, I know many people such as myself who have tried the product at the recommendation of a stylist. I have a question for you, if someone tried the product and had a pretty bad experience what would you, as the stylist that recommend the product do? Would you defend the product and suggest to the client they were not following directions, attempt to sell them a different system, suggest they have an underlying medical condition, or even end your relationship with them? Or would you work with your client to find another product that may work for them that was not a Monat product? Its a fair question coming from a one of the unfortunate former clients who had multiple systems suggested, apparently used it wrong, went to the doctor because I was convinced I had medical issues and was fired by my stylist for following her recommendations when she ran out of things to blame it on. Just trying to understand the line of thinking from the concerned stylists that sell the stuff.

    • @geotred
      @geotred 6 лет назад +4

      The Brutal Hun
      I am so sorry you had that experience! I personally have never "fired" a client??!! I would never do such a thing. We carry multiple lines in my salon so I would definitely suggest something else if it was not right for them. The reality is that people can most certainly be allergic to natural ingredients. My godson is allergic to apples, corn, dairy etc. All of these things are perfectly healthy for the majority of the population but for him they are toxic. I had one customer who was allergic to something in our products and I told her to stop immediately. Every person will not be able to use everything. The way this person handled it unfortunate. I teach all my market partners to be educated and informed and to realize it might not be right for everyone. Unfortunately we cannot control every person and how they conduct business. This is true in every industry. Again, I am so sorry for your unpleasant experience.

    This bothers me because those products are on those shelves, not because they aren't profesional, but because there's a thing in the industry called diversion. Diversion is what happens when a salon, or stylist in most cases, buys large amount of products at a professionally discounted rate and sells it back to stores, or on facebook, or on craigslist. I work for an Aveda salon; you can't find aveda at Salon Centric or any professional distributor but it makes it's way on shelves in stores or online because of the reason I stated above. Although aveda has a team that works on diversion, it still happens. Not because the product isn't professional, but because there are unprofessional hair stylists out that that just want to make a quick buck.

    your argument with clients getting products in the drug store is played out. you know exactly how these stores get these products and what they do to them but what you’re obviously not doing is educating your clients on WHY they shouldn’t just go and buy them at a drug store. Monat is an MLM, so of course you’re getting a higher percentage from your sales especially when you get uneducated stylists to sign up and sell it to others that have no idea what they’re putting in their hair.

      Omg thank you.
      This is crazy.
      It's called diversion and alot of the big name brands seen in stores are actually trying to cut down on it with some new methods, and are constantly developing ways to hopefully end that.
      The corporation itself is not selling to the stores, it's crooked stylists etc. Also the products not being from a salon have no standard to uphold i.e expiration date, watered down etc. You even mentioned that.....

      Let’s just talk about how Monat is now sold on amazon, eBay, Poshmark, mercari, bayside essentials, & that’s just what popped up on the first page of google. Don’t even get me started on Craigslist of FB marketplace. So diversion in our industry isn’t a valid argument at all because clearly Monat has this issue as well. She’s so full of shit.

      I ordered Paul Mitchell on Amazon and the product was fake. It smelled different from the ones at the salon. At the salon I know what I am getting even on the bottles in fine print "not GUARANTEED unless sold by a professional could be tampered with or old." The stuff sold other than salons could be old, fake or tampered with.

    As a licensed cosmetologist you can purchase shampoo & conditioner at wholesale price at the pro beauty supply which is 50% off retail price. Then you are supposed to resell to clients at suggested retail price. If you do the math that is literally 100% profit on the stylist end. Compared to 15% to 30% Monat commission this lady is claiming. If your clients want to be cheap & purchase expired shampoo & conditioner at Marshall’s/TJMaxx, that’s their problem, not the stylist’s problem!! Also as a stylist Monat gave me hair loss after only using it a few times. And there’s no reason retail price of 8 oz Monat shampoo should be $39 when retail price of Kenra shampoo 32 ounce is $32. (just a comparison example) Monat doesn’t even sell liter bottles, what a rip off! Yes I’m a stylist!!

  • @CyanideSwtie

    It is called diversion. It is huge in the beauty industry. This is first hand knowledge to beauty professionals. Target, Walgreens etc... dont carry Multi Level Marketing products. Younique is not sold at Sephora, for example. So as far as Redken being sold in Walgreens, know that professional lines only guarantee their product when purchased by a professional stylist. This is why you should only buy professional products from a professional stylist. To do anything otherwise is pointless.

    • @CyanideSwtie

      *when purchased from a professional hairdresser

  • @MyLoveliestAddiction
    @MyLoveliestAddiction 5 лет назад +11

    This argument is null & void.
    We all know diversion is a huge issue in our industry and that’s why we educate our clients not to buy professional products from these stores.
    Monat is now sold on Facebook marketplace & Craigslist. Also a quick google search showed its being sold at:
    - Bayside essentials
    - Amazon
    - eBay
    - poshmark
    - Mercari
    - Etsy
    While people may not find it on a store shelf, it’s out there and sold in several places. Monat might not have approved this, just like big professional brands didn’t approve their products to be on those store shelves, but’s it’s now a reality.
    Do a little more research before going around and speaking such nonsense. This is almost as bad as you telling people in a prior video that Monat shampoo and conditioner has thermal protectant in it or it’s almost as bad as the video of you saying Guy Tang loves these products. He publicly came out and said he does not use nor has he tried these products.
    You should really remember that Monat will not back you up if someone ends up suing you over the lies you tell about these products.

    As a stylist I feel like part of our job is to explain diversion to our clients. The line I personally love has never been sold at Walmart or target but it my be on amazon... well on amazon it is the old pacakaging they had years ago! The company actually goes online and into stores to make sure they aren't trying to sell it and they do try and stop as much as possible. Monat to me isn't professional... this I don't know but please could someone let me know... do you go to classes to learn about monat? Because with the professional line I love we have classes offered we get to learn what ingredients are involved, what it can do for your hair, different ways to use it, and so on... classes that I've gone to would not work with a nonhairstylist because someone who didn't go to cosmetology school wouldn't be able to keep up in class... I'm sorry it's just how I feel and also one more thing....that video you just keept talking about making more money! I'm sorry but yes money is important but when it comes to sending my clients home with products I think it's more important to give them something that will make their hair beautiful and will work for them, not just making more profeit from the sale....

    Please EDUCATE yourself, Monet is all about MARKETING... OMG YOU NEED TO EDUCATE YOURSELF! So ignorant. I went to hairdressing school many years ago, used professional products like Joico etc... ITS ALL ABOUT CONVENIENCE, CLIENTS WANT CONVENIENCE. NOT A MARKETING PLOT- PLEASE EDUCATE YOURSELF.
