Incredible work on making your own Generation 1 Autobot Hound. 👏👏👏👏👏. It least it saves the rest of us time until the official release of Hound so we plan to collect all of the Season 1 Autobots (we just need Gears, Windcharger and Dinobot Swoop).
Seeing you tackling this project reminds of the time a few years ago when i bought a second siege starscream from my local Wal-Mart just to repaint it into my on figure of skywarp just cause i didn't want to wait for the official figures or try hunting it down,sadly that figure didn't last as the small peg holding the wing backpack assembly snapped on me thus making my custom a lost dream until i can find another siege starscream for a cheep price
@@HobbieswithJose thanks for liking my comment and replying, if possible i might just do a 2.0 of that custom as when i originally made that custom i used black sharpie marker on top of a clear coat primer which was a big mistake and I'll actually try to use masking tape as well

Thank you Zach! I don't typically top coat my customs since they mainly go in the display case. It certainly wouldn't hurt but may require extra sanding of certain parts for a smooth transformation. 👍🏼
Man! Hola Jose, first of all this is a jaw dropping custom you've done!! quite talented indeed. When transforming, does the paint wears off? or scratches? how do you prevent that?
I don't think there's a way to 100% prevent the paint from rubbing or scratching off but there's some ways to try and mitigate it. Sanding down parts that are going to rub against or touch others will make room for the paint. Also, I hardly do this but a good top coat will help protect the paint too. Hey and thanks for watching!
Finally another custom! I know for a fact that the buzzworthy hound won’t be as good as this, unfortunately the mold isn’t very accurate to the jeep in the first place, just a shame it didn’t get the jeep licensing!

And considering that they seem to have butt heads with Target recently about the Ss102 Optimus Prime situation I think they’re trying to renegotiate things so might be a while before we see him

Unfortunately, Ratchet was not on sale. I'm still looking for Sludge/Slag? and Swoop and I preordered the Megatron/Shockwave/Soundwave 3 pack which will complete my collection for Tranformers Gen 1. Amazing! I had trouble at first determining which was the MP until I seen the height difference. I have plans to do the same so thanks for doing all the guess work for me. What did you use for the paint removal?
Ey thanks! This project was certainly rewarding. For paint removal I use 9 parts 91% iso alcohol and 1 part lacquer thinner. It’s pretty strong so I use it cautiously, especially on clear parts. Good luck on yours! 👍🏽

@HobbieswithJose electroplating is used for metals, but you can get coatings to brush on surfaces to electroplate plastic surfaces. If you give a youtube search for "electroplating plastic" you can find some good tutorials on how to prepare it.
What do you use to strip the paint off your figures? I am wanting to do a custom using the legacy Leadfoot and need to strip off the blue and red on the figure
How does it make Hasbro look bad? Do you think this would be a $20-$25 figure after he's customized it? It's brilliant work from an enthusiast, but not something a company can do and still sell a toy for a reasonable price.

The accuracy IS an issue, that's true, but that's why I'm glad the custom Jeep front end exists. Hopefully more folks utilize as well. 👍🏼

No, have never considered that. Isn't that only for metals though? I'm not familiar with the process.

For airbrushing, do you use a specific level of pressure in your compressor?
I kinda eyeball it, but I keep it relatively low. Too high a pressure will cause the paint to be uneven. Depends on the type of paint too.

Hey there, Jose. How did you split the head without cracking it.
I never actually split the head on this project. I pulled it off the ball joint and applied putty on the seam line to hide it. 👍🏽

Maybe I missed it, but how did you get the pin out of his knees and elbows?
Those joints have the wide pins which I tend to leave alone. Too much trouble to try and disassemble so I simply work around them. 👍🏼
