Boy, Duane was ON FIRE that night! Wow! His loss can never be overstated. He was about to take them to the top of the world. Amazing part was he knew that's where they belonged. And he was doing his part to get em there. Greatest guitar player this world has ever seen.
Duane was ALWAYS on fire. I saw the Allmans open for Buddy Guy and B.B. King at Fillmore West in mid-January 1970 and they and he FULLY stood up to those two great blues men. Duane and Jimi were two devastating losses to the music. Getting the lives tapes of both of them into wide circulation is a blessing and a challenge. Thanks for this John DuBois and all.
No doubt. Right out of the gate, too, Duane's just killing it. And he was definitely the Sun they all orbited around. A lot of particularly this show it seems the tunes are basically vehicles for Duane, but to diminish how tight they are but they all seem to follow Duane.
@@jameshurlbut4151 dickie wrote damn good songs and the way dickie let skydog do what he do, The Warehouse was a magical place, it had the best smell, fresh sticky colombian smelled so fine, the place would move up and down when a cement mixer would drive by on tchoups, crazy but true. The acoustics were second to none, there wasnt a chair to sit in, you sat on the dirty floor or stood, Lol, damn good times there
This is a stellar performance from the Brothers and the sound quality is outstanding. 'Mountain Jam' is my favourite instrumental of all time and Duane's solo at the end of 'You don't love me' is superb. I'm running out of superlatives to describe this bunch of talented guys! What I would give to have seen them play live!
Oh lordy its ten am and i got this blasting in my headphones on the bus to work. Just smoked a joint , Gonna be a long one, thank god for the allman bros
I would see this lineup 2 days later in Dayton Ohio at Hara Arena..worked for Delta and my BF The Spook had met Mike Callahan(sound board) and he said come on down to the sound check..we did and then were given tickets and The Brothers blew us away…they changed my life musically that night…have listened in some form every day since then!! This is good stuff!!!!!
I love listening to their concerts. It's always interesting to hear how they played everything at that specific show since they never played the samE thing twice and were all about improvising and playing what, they felt at the moment. That alone puts them amongst the greatest bands ever.
Odd how they showed the Hurricane Edith shot after Statesboro...I was planning on hitchhiking from Alexandria to see this show. Edith made me say, "Well, I'll catch 'em next time. Sadly, there was no next time for Duane; this was his last show at A Warehouse. I DID make it to the New Years Eve show. When we walked out at the end, it was daylight. Had a head full of "Hawaiian Woodrose". Probably just acid. Still one of the major highlights of my life. I was 17 years old at the time.
Set List: 1. Statesboro Blues 2. Trouble No More 3. Don't Keep Me Wonderin' 4. Done Somebody Wrong 5. One Way Out 6. In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed 7. Stormy Monday 8. Hot 'Lanta 9. Blue Sky 10. Midnight Rider 11. You Don't Love Me 12. Whipping Post 13. Revival 14. Mountain Jam The Band: Gregg Allman - organ, vocals; Duane Allman - guitar; Dicky Betts - guitar; Berry Oakley - bass; Butch Trucks - drums; Jai Johanny Johanson - percussion Note: One of 3 shows in which Duane plays Blue Sky.
I might have been at this concert with friends, I was 13 and saw the Allman Bros at the Warehouse in NOLA. They played there many times but this around the time frame of when I was there.
With Cowboy! Rest in Peace Tommy and Scott! I actually talked to Tommy on here last year and asked him about the beginning of Please Be With Me. He explained what, they were talking about and it was like learning insider info. I couldn't believe he actually told me! 🙏❤️
@@ledaswan5990 lol it was a signal for a part coming up in the song. Something about it comes up real fast if you aren't ready for it. I'd have to go back and read the comment to be sure but that was the gist of it. Its nothing special but it was still one of the highlights of my life to have someone who was there tell me about it. Duane Allman has been a HUGE part of my life since the day I was born and bestowed the middle name, Duane, after one Howard Duane Allman 😁
This is an incredible recording! Thanks John! Happy someone had the insight to capture some of these shows! Sound is great and you can feel it all the way to your blood & bones!

Is that Greg on the mic engaging the audience? The energy is through the roof and curious if it might be Duane? This performance is holy.
@@crb640At beginning was Duane I had this boot 25 years ago but lost now thankfully I found it here, thanks to those responsible 💯💥

Very nice remaster of this show. The Brothers always loved NOLA (even after the bust there) and it showed in their playing. 🍄

Needs to be released!
I just did !

Thank you for sharing.
The best show for Duane playing his Dark Burst!
Great show! I've had the Cool Engine label bootleg 2cd set for 25 years. Near the end!
The Live at Fillmore tapes are worth peanuts compares to these tapes
The Real Shit.
Wow.. thanx😊
A month later, he was gone.

Great stuff!

"A" Warehouse, not "The Warehouse"!!!
