I play both acoustic and electric guitar. I've seen them live as well and I can safely say that Jack does play guitar. He plays his parts just fine.
I have a strong feeling Jack is always high and restless on stage because of the "aromatic" bras on his mic stand. LOL. 😂

They have a back up; it's just not always seen. I don't think they use pre-recorded. He just doesn't play the lead depending on the song. He is usually playing rhythm.

Jack is always at a very low volume / completely turned off and replaced by a pre-recorded track live (it varies from show to show which one actually happens), basically because he doesn't bother playing his guitar properly. He's only ever turned up when all three guitars are needed (there's another guy playing guitar at the back, on the left), otherwise it's basically just Alex and the other guy.
Just a normal, 4 string, Fender American Standard Jazz Bass. The only difference is he has his in custom colours that aren't normally available.
He also changes out the pick-ups for Aguilar pick-ups, i'm not sure which exact model.

I love how everyone pretty much stays in there place but jack is every funking where XD
The tuning is in Drop D. The PRS and LTD guitars probably have a lot to do with their sound. Also their Egnater cabs and Mesa Boogie Amps. Not sure about the EQ. It sounds like they scooped the mids.

Yeah Jack is a sucky guitarist. All he does is play chords and hype the crowd. Kinda like a rhythm guitarist version of Pete Wentz. Alex has always been the better guitarist. When Alex doesn't play guitar and just sings, there's a third guitarist in the back playing lead while Jack plays rhythm. I didn't notice this until I saw them at the Warped Tour 2012. I mean hey if it works for them so be it. I still love their music and Alex's voice is real so that's great. Zack's bass is incredible too. Fingerstyle to this music? Simply amazing.
Hattie Revans they do switch roles sometimes, but jack plays the lead on some old songs like dear maria
Jack actually plays lead every live show. I've seen these guys live too many times to know the difference. A lot of people think he's a shitty guitar player, but he's not. He's been playing guitar longer than Alex has. People can talk shit all they want, he does play live and he is great at what he does. Their backing guitarist is just there for a more fuller sound. There really never was a solid purpose for it.
Taylor OBrien eh It usually depends on the tour, sometimes Jack is just barely in the mix at all on some tours, maybe even muted. Alex usually plays leads on all the old songs besides octave parts, not sure about the new songs. In recent years Jack has actually been prominent in the mix though.

Your EQ should have very little treble and bass. The cymbals cut through the high frequencies, and the bass handles the low frequencies, so if you have too much of those it will sound muddy.
Go to a concert so you can listen to the band properly. This is the soundboard channel track ;)
