Hi guys, at the present. I cannot speak French but understand some phrases and expressions. However the city of Sherbrooke catched my attention and Gatineau.

I lived in 2 of those cities Quebec City where I am right now and Sherbrooke where I was before coming to Quebec City. It is true that for a big city Sherbrooke is very cheap to live . I found The people of Sherbrooke being more friendly than Quebec City but Sherbrooke has the highest percentage of people with mental illnesses of all Quebec with 11 %.

@@gohardorgohome7687 I think you're too hard on Canada, first of all I don't know where in Canada you live, but I live in Saskatoon, which is one of the coldest major cities in the country, and it's more like 5 months of winter, with -40 unlikely except in December through February. Significantly less in Vancouver or Eastern Canada. And even then, winter is not really that bad, just bundle up and keep moving when you have to go outside. I've spend the better part of 8 hours a day outside in -30 for days at a time and been fine. As far as infrastructure and such., it's true that we could do better. But we're still world class in those ways, we're beaten by basically a few countries in northern and Western Europe, New Zealand, and that's it.

Look for a country place in the Laurentians north west of Montreal. The property prices are affordable - there are hospitals, shopping, good roads, satelite TV, Internet, etc.
I was 9 when I moved to Maine my English was ok growing up I was treated like dirt I was called dumb A frog 🐸 still to this day don't get that one.the police would harass me driving very ignorant .but I can assure you french people will treat you respectfully if you visit Quebec

All other cities in Canada don't have cozy cafes, only those americanized sterile, impersonal cafe chains like Tom Horton and Starbucks.
