There is a silent social movement in India that has affected the lives of millions of rural women through self help and empowerment. The pioneer of this movement throws light on some of the key principles involved, the universal nature of the process of intervention and why it is urgently needed to counter the most difficult problems facing our planet, including continuing poverty, growing inequality and injustice. The process is described as a humanitarian approach to change that builds on raising self awareness and collective awareness, with the participation of all concerned citizens. There is an ongoing program of training of facilitators and mentors that has been giving consistently useful outcomes.
This event will encourage citizens to practice some of the steps described, and support facilitation methods in different communities across the world.
