Let me know what you thought of this history video and if you want see more Spore speedrunning history videos in the future! Additional notes: On the oldest version of Spore that rowrow_ was using, empires only sold Energy Packs one at a time. In later versions of Spore, empires sell 5 Energy Packs at a time. This saved about a minute in the following runs being able to buy more Energy Packs at a time. Different difficulties in Space Stage are all tracked together on the leaderboards. For a short time there used to be different categories for each difficulty, however, it was agreed that the different difficulties in Space Stage were similar enough to track them together.
People have known how to cheese frequent flyer about as long as the game has existed. I remember my brother telling me about it back when I first got to space stage and me not having the patience to do it because I was like 7. In my mid twenties now.
I always find videos about the history of speedruns so fascinating! Spore is one of my favorite childhood games, and it's so cool seeing how people developed strategies to beat a game in record time that I never even knew had an "ending" when I was younger. I love when you do longer videos like this, too, so keep up the good work! ^^
I just had this crazy glitch happen in creature stage where my first nest is in the water and the sea monster instantly triggers on land. somehow made it to the first migration thinking it world fix itself, but it didn't, i'm stuck in the water lol
I'd like to try to get this to happen to me as well, I've heard a lot of reports of this glitch occurring. What version of Spore are you playing on? If you still have the save file or at least know what planet you used from the main menu, I'd love to see a picture of the mini-map during Civ or Space to see what the planet looks like! Migrating to another nest should fix the problem. If you find another of your nests (you can use the Freecam cheat to make it easier) then your creature should respawn back on land and be safe.
@@KinglyValence I still have the save file, though I'm still in creature stage. I'll post a link to a picture of the mini-map as soon as I get there. The mini-map in creature shows plants and the home nest underwater, also whenever you respawn you have to surface for a solid 3-5 seconds. The version is 1.1.0.388, language is Russian. I've found that you mentioned this glitch in your Creature stage glitches video, I'll try the solution you've suggested here and in that video. Also funny trivia, I've had this exact Spore installation since I was 6 years old and we played it with my parents, survived countless Windows reinstalls and transfers during PC upgrades
Is this a prelude to similar videos on the other stages? Assuming those stages have as much flexibility to have this much development in the first place, of course.
I might do a full game history one day and go through the first four Stages in more depth. I think Space had enough detail to make it worth its own video, but the rest might be worth doing together!
Honestly I'm suprised you took the time to find a route yourself. It sound way easier to make a program search for it. (since someone already managed to read the star system with that program)
Sorry for seeing this late, I believe you need a CD key to register a Spore account, and I've heard a lot that Steam doesn't provide those anymore. I made my Spore account back in 2008 with the DVD install and I've been using that one since, so I'm not that familiar with the process. But getting Spore on something like GOG for a CD key seems to be how to get an account in the modern day!
Cool video I have a question, does technics like ghost ship are not allowed or not efficient? It seems that it could save time as you don’t need to buy energy refills
The ghost ship and other glitches are allowed, but driving the ghost ship with no energy is really slow, and when using the ghost ship the camera is stuck in one position and can't be rotated so it makes it harder to see the next start to jump to.
On Easy starting health for the Space ship is 1,500. This wiki page has all the spaceship health amounts for different difficulties and upgrades :) spore.fandom.com/wiki/Prime_Specimen?so=search
Hey! Randomly got recommend this and I'm wondering: are there any fixes or mods to improve all the performance and repeated crashing issues on the steam version of spore? I have been thinking of trying it again, but the game just kinda sucks in a lot of ways Also, I kinda don't like how the game takes away all the nuance of culture. You can basically only fight, only do money, or only do religion.
There are some mods that do fix some crashes! There's a Modding Discord for Spore that has them all and people to help install them! discord.gg/YUcJWtb

Insane seeing the knowledge of both needing frequent flier 2 and how to cheese getting it being almost a decade old

The great Spode has blessed us and we received his gift in a form of a long video. Also thank you Kingly
without all the nebulas the galaxy looks like it's composed of hexagonal chunks with spaces on the middle and branches joining the corners
Yes i think an analysis of this might even be worth a video
KinglyValence and Savage Brick, name a more iconic duo
I never really thought about how Spore speedruns would work, but now I know! Amazing content as always!

Man... I remember watching rowrow's youtube videos on Spore a long while ago. Fun times.
GREAT VIDEO, the segment showing the best paths was very satisfying to watch
I think space stage is quite fun, unlike some other people
I think it is cool but feels very slow unless you know what you're doing. As a kid I was completely stuck
this video was absolutely fascinating
20:21 Oh, God... Flashbacks 😂
Ohhh right! Thanks for helping me clear all those for the Finding Earth galaxy! XD
i love spore and speedruns are one of my interests so seeing this is a huge treat for me
History Lesson in Spore 😯
This was really interesting!
Your content has quickly become some of my go to comfort media when I'm feeling down. 10/10
Super interesting! Thanks for the Video :D Would love to see more speedrunning history videos :3

Great video!
You should make a video on how to get a custom planet for creature stage/tribal stage like you have in your speedruns.

👀It's cool to see a speedrun history video that doesn't copy the same narrative style that all the others do

Where all speedrun by other spore speedruners only you and SavageBrick
It's just not the same without the SummoningSalt music
Hey can you tell me on how to make a spore account? When I saw your speedruns you had one.

How is your spaceship health so high? I always get shot d9wn by the grox, near the galaxy center
On Easy starting health for the Space ship is 1,500. This wiki page has all the spaceship health amounts for different difficulties and upgrades :) spore.fandom.com/wiki/Prime_Specimen?so=search
@KinglyValence I see, my save is in hard mode. I want to get to the center without cheats if possible. Does making a rush through the grox still work?
